What DLC should I spend the rest of my money on?

Archive: 27 posts

I currently have the Metal Gear Solid, and Pirates of the Caribbean Pack. I told myself I'd save up my money in case something huge would come up. However, since LittleBigPlanet 2 is just around the corner, I might as well spend what I have left because they likely won't add much more to the original game.

I currently have: ₤10.42

So, what should I buy?

I would get something that helps with level design. If I were to add a pack I might choose the history pack.2010-08-06 09:16:00

I wouldn't recomment the Incredibles pack because, aside from a couple of neat materials, it's pretty much worthless unless you want to make an Incredibles level. I would recomend the history pack.2010-08-06 21:04:00

Thanks a whole lot for the responses, guys. Right now, I think I'm sold on the History Pack and maybe the Monsters Pack as well. I do want to buy a costume pack for future use in LittleBigPlanet 2, though. Any ideas?2010-08-07 00:11:00

Seeing that you make levels the History and Monster packs would be good purchases. Personally, I'm not much of a creator, so I'd go with costume packs.2010-08-07 00:24:00

And it's not like LBP2 won't have DLC. It's not dramatic if you have some money left, I mean, you could use it on some interesting LBP2 DLC later this year.

Good point, maybe I should reconsider...

I would do a bit of research and find out what's in each pack and decide what's valuable to you. The monster pack has a bunch of good stuff: I love the sackboy arm and leg decos, the nails and bolt decos and so on. Those kinds of things are good for level AND costume design. It also has one of my favorite backgrounds: the cave thing. The history kit also has some good objects, decos, sounds (clock, sword, time machine warpy noise, and more), and a nice background. The Incredibles pack has some nice objects, decos and on ok background. If you're into cars, some of the decos could be good for you.

For details, descriptions, and pictures of the contents of all the dlc packs, go here (http://www.littlebigplanet.com/en-gb/game_guide/ps3/downloadable_content/). You could also search in-game: some people put up demo levels showcasing the goodies from various packs for those who are on the fence about buying them.

as a creator I'd advise staying away from the marvel pack...I can't foresee needing anything in it. the materials are rubbish, almost completely useless decos, and stickers out the wazoo, but you'd probably only use a small handful. unless you're making a comic book level, then by all means...

edit: Guess I should mention that I haven't gotten everything in the pack, still need the 4x stuffs, but after obtaining most of it, I was quite disappointed with the lack of any serious quality things. on the plus side, the music tracks are decent, though non-interactive.

The "Thing Skin" material makes a nice irregular rocky surface if you sticker it, but the rest are kinda pointless. Some of the decos are okay, but the stickers are mostly useless. Still, as DLC packs go, it's more useful than most.

The packs which contain create tools (excluding sticker-only packs) are:-

Metal Gear Solid Level Kit
Pirates of the Caribbean Level Kit
History Level Kit
Monsters Level Kit
Incredibles Level Kit
Marvel Level Kit
Valentine's Pack
Festive Pack
Music Pack #1
ICO Costume Pack (for the ICO Sound Object)

what they really need, In my opinion, is just a pack of serious. More realistic stickers, more variety in stone, metal, glass, and sponge. I guess I prefer something a lot less cartoony. I know a lot of kids play, and they might like the bright colors, but who makes a level involving the marvel collage material? I know some kids create, but the power creators I think deserve a a slightly more "dignified" package.

Anyway, not hijacking this thread. I have the history pack, the monster pack, the ICO pack, and the music pack, as well as the two you have. I like all of them, thought the costumes in the ICO pack are rather limited. Especially since the hairs can't be used at all with any of the hats from the game *cough* It would be awesome if that were fixed *cough*. some of the stickers in the music pack are useful if you want to make archaic looking writing, just requires a little patience.

Wow, this thread has really swelled up. Thanks for all your responses! Right now, I'm not sure if I should wait and save my money for LittleBigPlanet 2 DLC or spend it now on LittleBigPlanet DLC and buy another PlayStation Network Card when something comes up for the next game. What do you guys think?

Thanks in advance!

lbp2 isn't till November, at the earliest. If you seriously can't scrounge up enough before then, go ahead, wait. Of course everything you download now is still usable in lbp2, so you know it won't hurt your game at all either way. I would honestly blow it on some packs, and try and save up. it's gonna probably be at least a month after lbp2 for the first major pack, maybe longer. I didn't have intarweb connection when the first came out (oh I had the game though) so I'm not sure how long before the first packs hit.2010-08-14 06:29:00

The Marvel pack was actually super fun, in my opinion. I recommend that one.

Maybe the Incredibles pack? It's got some interesting costume pieces.
