Pineapple Planet [UPDATE]

Archive: 90 posts


After seeing the new Adventure trailer for LBP2, this idea popped into my head. Name ideas are accepted.

Sypnosis
This will be a series of levels and worlds linked by Badges (I think thats what theyre called), much like Super Mario Bros. You will have to progress through all of the levels to get to the boss of that world. There will be, say, 3-5 worlds, each consisting of like, 1 or 2 mini-bosses, if Moon space permits. With the exceptions of a few puzzles, this series is mainly a platformer.
EDIT: Power Gloves are also necessary in this game. Im gonna see if you can keep the players from unequipping the gloves. If so, things will go swimmingly.

Plot
The nefarious Senior Spinach has captured the Grand Tomato, just before the Fruit Festival! Senior Spinach, with the belief that tomatoes are a vegetable, has taken the Grand Tomato to his evil Vegetable Kingdom. And to make things even worse, he has sent his Vegetable Baddies to various areas of Pineapple Planet, each with 1 key to Senior Spinach's Castle. It is up to you to defeat the Baddies, find Senior Spinach, and retrieve the Grand Tomato!

This looks like an awesome idea,I'd love to help, 'cause I've made lot's of stuff by myself, but never as a team. If we did get together, the 7 hour time difference might be problematic, but we'd find a way round it .
And if it's going to be a Super Mario type series, I loved those games! I just had a thought! You remember the hammer throwing koopas and the red flying mystery boxes that randomly appeared in levels, you could implement those into your series! By having a (for example) 1 in 25 chance of getting one of these at the start of the level, you could hook up the randomizer to 24 blank out puts and to 1 emitter somewhere in the level that emitted a, oh, I don't know, a ****ed Daikon, the cursed radish from hell, at he start of the level, and if the player beat it, then they gained a key to a side story level, like a little puzzle, or a movie level explaining some extra part of the game. And the player could collect different beans instead of points, and they find beans by cracking open fruit baskets..... Sorry, I'm rambling.....

And random cheese falling out of the roof, or is that just me?

At the moment I'm working on a level called PURE, a platform set in a swamp/bog, so when I've finished that doing the designs for that, I'll get round to doing the design full time for this level. And I'll be posting images of my drawings either on this thread or send them direct to you, or maybe even put them on a photo storage website... Hmmmm.... I'll inform later.

I would love to help in anyway I can. I'm not very good with logic, but I could help make some creatures. I've been told I'm pretty good with crafting stories and using pot twists and using cameras when they can be used for cinematic effect. I pre-ordered the collectors edition of LBP2 and it should get to my house around November 19. I would love to help with sackbots, enemies, and cinematography. My PSN is aang1050. If you're wondering why I haven't made any levels, I have, I just haven't published them because I'm still working on getting internet in my basement (though I'm pretty sure that I will have internet by the end of this week).

P.S. If I get a microphone, I would love to help with creature sounds.

That would be awesome! There could be random fruit falling in a bowl, and you have to shoot any vegetables that try and fall into the bowl. After three vegetables fall in the bowl, you lose!

I was thinking more along the lines of a bowl full of fruit rocking back and forth, and you have to avoid getting squished or falling out . And The Wiggles are singing in the background...

Looks like Commander Cauliflower, O' Brocks, Octopotato and Raddishark are my 4 possible Veggie Villains. The 5th, of course, is Senior Spinach.

Is it possible for Controlinators to be dissolved/force out Sackpeople? Because Im planning for the ride-able partners to be programmed to get "killed" when they're hit once.

Well I don't see why not, It'd only make sense if it was an option .
And if it does'nt let you in unless its unlocked, you could always put the key at the end of first level .
However, if your aim is to make the player play it from start to finish, i'm pretty sure I heard somewhere that it does that automatically.
But it may just be an option or I just misheard it .
(Now watch rtm walk in and tell me that I'm completely wrong ._.)

Hey guys! Just finished doing a design for a guy called Sgt Pepper. A gung-ho crudit? killing bell pepper. Armed with his SubSandwichMachinegun and his lovingly dubbed semi-automatic pistol 'Pepper spray', he leads his group of expert saboteurs to destroy all that stands in there way. And I've also made a dude called Samuel, a whale who will help you through can help you through a set of underwater levels, but he better watch out for 'The Whaler' and his harpoon, both of which have pledged allegiance to Senior Spinach in return for a large supply of whale grease and hats with horns on them, so Samuel better watch out! And I've done some drawings of a char-grilled pepper catapult. And I've done some concept drawings for senior Spinach. Hope you'll excuse the rubbish drawing quality ^^ I'm not used to drawing sackboys. Go look on my profile in the album on there for the pics ^^

I think that the enemies should have 'ranks' so to speak, as in they get harder to beat as the game progresses.

Rank examples:

Weed: Puny vegetable, can be defeated with one bounce.

Pea: A little stronger, may require a combination of power gloving and jumping to defeat.

Onion: Strongest common enemy, can kill in one blow and must be power gloved 3 times.

Cabbage: Boss rank. Requires you to bounce, glove, and grapple your way to victory!

Hey guys! Just finished doing a design for a guy called Sgt Pepper. A gung-ho crudit? killing bell pepper. Armed with his SubSandwichMachinegun and his lovingly dubbed semi-automatic pistol 'Pepper spray', he leads his group of expert saboteurs to destroy all that stands in there way. And I've also made a dude called Samuel, a whale who will help you through can help you through a set of underwater levels, but he better watch out for 'The Whaler' and his harpoon, both of which have pledged allegiance to Senior Spinach in return for a large supply of whale grease and hats with horns on them, so Samuel better watch out! And I've done some drawings of a char-grilled pepper catapult. And I've done some concept drawings for senior Spinach. Hope you'll excuse the rubbish drawing quality ^^ I'm not used to drawing sackboys. Go look on my profile in the album on there for the pics ^^

Sackspearean ruff (just for a bit of character )

Real quick idea for some villains!

Dingleberry Patch: Dingleberry is a fruit that was brainwashed into thinking he was a veggie. Before this, he was the biggest breadfruit in the world, and was in record books and always won at the county fair. He is so big, he uses swings hanging birdhouses about for weapons, and picks toothpicks out of his teeth! You meet him as sort of a miniboss, but after you defeat him, he goes back to normal, and helps you through the rest of the level, and comes to visit at the final battle!

Carmelita Kaleo: A lot like Carmen Sandiego, with the sunglasses, and the red leather jacket, and the hat and all. She is a stick of Kale. She is a master of disguise, and can look exactly like any fruit or veggie she sees. She uses this ability to lure you into traps, and you have to figure out a way if its a real person, or if its Carmelita.

HornBull: Dingleberry's closest friend. He is a Horned Melon. He is not as easily swayed as Dingleberry, however, and after you defeat him, he runs off. He is a little smaller than Dingleberry. In the fight, you have to get him to charge you, swith layers,and then he gets stuck in the wall. Then get a seed that Dingleberry spits out for ya with your power gloves, and throw it at HornBull before he gets loose. You have to do this 3 times, with him getting faster each time. You all know what I'm talking about.

Ok, well that's all I got for now. Hope this makes it in!

How do you do the 3-hit logic?

What you would ordinarily do is put a mag key on the seed, and a mag switch on HornBull. Attach the mag switch to an emitter, and make the emitter emit a ball of paint. (to get this, shoot the paintinator, pause, and save the ball as an object.) Anyway, make the emitter be extremely close, but not too close, to the boss. If you wanted to get really advanced, you could hollow him out, and put an emitter on the edge so it hits him inside. Then, take a paint switch, attach it to the boss's brain, set it to 3 hits, and there you have it! Recap: The mag key on the seed makes the emitter emit a paintball, damging the boss. But who knows, they may have an awesome new simpler way in LBP2!

Well in LBP2 you could make the boss real easy. Place an impact switch on the boss. Set it so that it activates when the seed (with the corresponding mag key placed on it) hits the boss. It'll activate the impact switch. Then you could just use the paint counter so that after a number of hits it'll activate the paint switch and it'll destroy the brain and the boss is dead In LBP1 however idk I'm waaaay too lazy to think of the logic for it (aka not good so great at logic )2010-08-18 18:38:00

Wait, wouldnt the Impact Switch activate anyway?

So heres my thoughts.

The stone gets thrown at the boss, and the impact switch is activated. The Impact Switch activates an Emitter than emits a paintball. The paintball hits a block with a Paintinator Switch set to 3 hits on it. The Emitter and Impact Switch will be accordingly synced so that the Impact Switch will only activate the Emitter for however long it takes for the Emitter to hit the block. (Some help with that? Maybe like, a Sequencer Switch...?)

The Impact switch will also dissolve a block in my Sequence Tower (I kinda made it) which will activate another set of actions, so the boss gets harder. ST might be replaced by a Sequencer if it works the way it does. Somehow, Ill figure out how, Ill make some kinda defeat cutscene activated by Mag Keys, and it'll be over.

Suggestions?

Something I just thought of now: pea pods. They fall from the sky and are fairly easy to eliminate as long as you get to them quickly. Wait too long however and the pod breaks open releasing a bunch of angry peas which you have to get rid of individually.2010-08-18 20:24:00

Ive heard a bit more detail on the Sequencer, and I ask this question.

Can the Sequencer be edited so that blocks will dissolve in a certain order when activated by a switch?

I have a great idea for a supporting character. Disapear!

He is a pear, and he is hidden somewhere in every World. If you find him,-- well, I havent really thought of what you get if you find him. Maybe some Bubbles, or a Key to a minigame area, or something along those lines.

Finalization- There will be 5 Worlds, 4 Stages in each, 1-2 Minibosses per World, and the 4th stage is the boss battle.

Sunday night ill get some updated veggie-outfits for you guys, since i finally mustered up the money to rent LBP for 1 night.

Ive got the terrains sorted out to different veggie-baddies as well, so you dont only have to go through grassy terrain whilst fighting the baddies.
