A poll and some new stuff

Archive: 14 posts

Alright, first of all, we've scrapped LittleBigCreation. It didn't take off like we thought it would, so we've pruned that. However, we still wanted to give you the option to blog and store your ideas on the LBPC forums. Some of you may have noticed, but that's alright: In the navbar should be a link called "share" in the top right. You can post to your blog, manage it, categorize and tag it(with predefined categories and tags), and even keep something private by setting the publish status of a post to "draft" so you can keep your ideas to yourself. It's all integrated right into the forums, so there's no need to sign up for a new account or anything like that.

Also, there's been some slight forum reorganization. If you haven't noticed, all of the community-based LittleBigPlanet forums now have their own category, to keep things cleaner. Also, the "Projects" and "LittleBigPlanet Suggestions" subforums have been promoted to regular forums due to the reorganization.

Finally, the question for the above poll is as follows:

Should the "Site Stuff" category be moved down to make room for both of the "LittleBigPlanet" categories?

The reason I ask is, since this is first and foremost a LittleBigPlanet fansite, I'm wondering if we should give priority to the LittleBigPlanet topics. Keep in mind that means more members will miss new site updates due to it being lower in the forum. Let me know what you think. Thanks guys.

Woo first vote! LOL

I think it should stay at the top because this stuff is important and people need to see it.

Can't we have just the Site news and Important Stuff category first, then have the LBP stuff. Then have all the other site stuff? That may work.2008-10-17 03:38:00

I vote no. Whether you move the LBP sections up or down, it still remains an LBP forum. Members should be kept up-to-date about news and stuff. :] Moving the LBP section up would make little difference. But that's my opinion.

Oh, and it looks better now, by the way.

Yea I'm of the same opinion so far. Important info should be at the top. People coming here for LBP stuff will scroll down just as easily knowing the LBP info will be there. But new members will most definitely never read site stuff if it's any lower than it is.

My 2 cents

Site news should stay on top, if it was any lower, it'd just feel weird. Important info should always come first.2008-10-17 04:27:00

I say keep it as currently organized. I see it the following way:

First of all, the way it is now, it just looks nice. It's all well-balanced, whereas moving that down would make it appear lopsided.

Second, I think of it like any formal presentation of information. First, the introduction, then the main body, then the conclusion. In this case, the news is on top, showing key elements to the site, the rules, and other things essential to the forums itself. It serves as the introduction, because in ways, it really is. Then, below that, there is the largest area, the LBP-focused areas. This main body is implied, and serves to function properly with its own organization, which it does. Finally, at the end and bottom is the general section, which is in ways the conclusion, as a community-focused area. Thus it flows from news of the forum, to news on LBP, to the community of LBP, to the community of the forum. And at the bottom, as a footnote or reference, is the vault. In short, the LittleBigPlanet body gets framed by the other sections, which keeps it centered and focused on, which is what you're intending.

In short, it flows, it's efficient, and it just works.

Definitely stays at the top.

Sure, this is a LittleBigPlanet forum, but before the forum comes the management itself.

A sort of prioritization, if you will.

Alright, it's pretty clear how you guys want it. I agree, actually, but I just wondered what you thought. We've got something good coming up soon(as in before launch), so I needed to know if the current setup is good before we continue. Thanks guys.2008-10-17 05:18:00

I dont think that putting the "site news" section down below everything else is a good idea.
Site news should be seen by everyone, and everyone should check it out every now and then to know whats going on, so I vote no here.

It doesn't bother me as I hardly ever go to the front forum screen anyway (only to make a new thread) as I only ever just click new posts and scroll through that way. Never ever go to the very front screen either to that fact (as in the main site and not the forums)2008-10-17 20:44:00
