I would like to proudly present my newest level: Granite Gardens!

The setting for this level is a mysterious garden on a lost island. My focus was primarily on platforming, and I hope that players will find the elements suprising and original. Those who have played my previous level will likely find the gameplay and visual style very familiar.

However, I believe I have improved on two points in respect to my last level: the inclusion of lighting effects and multiplayer friendliness.

Moving red platforms were good.
I'm kind of sick of the whole switch/watch/jump type deal though. We need a name for that kind of level. Maybe "SwitchesOfCourse" or something.

When you have nice elements like those red platforms, I don't see why you need to fall back on the SwitchesOfCourse. My advice would be create more gameplay based around the red platforms.
I'm sure others will like it though.

Very much noted... I was thinking of trying something new for my next adventure anyway... I suppose your right that it has been used a lot.

I'll try playing it tonight. I loved A realm forgotten so I can't wait to try this out.

I played it and there was a good amount of gameplay, fantastic detail and I loved the extra space in rooms and the style. Overall, I gave it :star::star::star::star::star: and a <3

I just played this level and I must say, that it was absolutely MIND BOGGLING. As I believe someone said on the comments page of your level, you truly are the master of emmiters. It would be a learning experience to watch you create.

Anyway, the level was simply amazing. The visuals couldn't have gotten any better and everything thing worked perfectly well and polished and whatnot. Sorry, I normally say more than this but all I can think of is how amazing the level was. There were no problems whatsoever, the gameplay was fun and unique, I still don't understand how you did half the things you did, and...well yeah.

Thank you for such an AMAZING play experience and I'm looking forward to every level that you will be creating from here on out. Great job man!

And of course, I gave you five stars and a heart.

Since you told me the other day lockstich, that you had a new level coming out this week, I have literally been clicking on your creator page every-time I go on LBP; then, finally I see that you have it published! ^_^

The level was brilliant, you truly have a great way of creating contraptions, making the seemingly impossible, possible and just creating a downright great level. Everything was perfect. The style, the music, the use of emitters; everything. A flawless level that makes me look even more foreword to your next one!

What else could I do but :star::star::star::star::star: and <3

Woo-hoo!! A new level from Lockstitch!

I will definitely be playing this one sometime today, between helping my son clean his room, shopping, and generally being a non-sack person.
I haven't had nearly as much time for the game this week as I'd hoped, but there's a lot around here that I've been putting off.

Real life is annoying sometimes.

Very nice job. The art style is gorgeous and clean ,everything fits well. Great use of emitters, enough to make me look at it and say "Gee that's a good idea, why haven't I thought of that before!"

It's lacking a little... something, though. It's fun but is a little repetitive, although there are a few good ideas and well employed mechanics here and there. Could use a little more spice and excitement.

When push comes to shove though, great level, gave it a heart

This level was great fun and it deserves 5 stars. I played it together with Pickled-punk so I couldn't tag it but I'll swear you I'll be playing again. Only thing I didn't like was the visuals. Even that they fit the theme they were still a little plain colored. I liked the red ivys all around the place. They brought a little color to this too. Since you already played my level you don't need to leave feedback. It was good level still.2010-08-06 11:18:00

Just played it and i was very impressed Some of the things you did with those red platforms were just amazing! Ive never really seen stuff like that done before. I liked the whole look of the level, and the use of all three layers was very well done. Overall just a great level really, looking forward to seeing more from you

A lot of fun! Five stars & a Vehicles tag!

lol wth. A vehicles tag?

This level was pretty good. I loved the bubble placement in this level. Alot of combos to be had. I dont think level is better than A Realm Forgotten though. This level, like some people already mentioned, has some nice ideas. Like the area I call Snake Way (lol DBZ reference) because the platforms move like a snake through the air. This level is just missing something though but I dont know what. Your a very talented creator. I would like to see you make a level with a story or different type of setting with some type of hazards or danger. Something with a little more challenge. I have no suggestions on this level since this level ran smoothly. I gave it 5 stars and a <3 Loved the emitter mechanics

Could you give feedback on my level Kinetic Crisis? Would like to here your opinion on it.

I played this level with FreeAim (and I did tag it a deserved 5 hearts).
Very entertaining gameplay, innovative obstacles. Not very difficult, but with a great flow.

I really liked the visual style. The combination of materials and decorations work well. Beautiful changing scenery, your trademark I think.

I slightly prefer "A Realm Forgotten" to this level, probably because Realm has more change of pace, with the djinn-character and the suprising rotation of the chamber. It breaks up the platforming gameplay that MidnightHeist so adequately dubbed "SwitchesOfCourse".
But that's nitpicking.

All in all: awesome level, extremely entertaining.

I really really enjoyed this level. Popped my tiny little head! I have absolutely no idea what-so-ever as to how you do the moving platforms, other than the use of emitters. I have never really used emitters much in my levels, other than to re-spawn a vehicle. I don't suppose you could give me a few tips and pointers via PM as to how you do it?

The visuals were tops. I love simple, unfussy visuals that make use of the texture or colour of the material itself, without slapping stickers everywhere. The preview picture was enough to make me choose to play it.. I didn't even realise it was by the same person that had made 'A Forgotten Realm'.

I also loved how you utilise the use of a section of your levels by making the player re-use sections unlike all my levels where you do something and move on to another room.

Very surprised by the negative comments on your level.. I really don't think any half baked story could make it any better. It really is very clever and above all, fun to play. I don't really want text bubbles popping up all the time and a level like this just doesn't need them.

5 stars and a heart for creator and level. Really well done!

Hey, Lockstitch, I finally had a chance to play the level. Sorry it took so long. I've been really busy with responsibilities to real life... I'm way behind on my own current LBP project as well. I wasn't going to play at all last night, but my wife reminded me, "Didn't you want to play that guy's level?" I'm really glad she did.
I'm not going to go on and on about how beautiful the level was or how unique some of the gameplay elements are, because you already know all that stuff.

I will tell you that I got to check it out in two player, and it worked really well. I was about halfway through when I got a req to join from one of those people you're never thrilled to hear from. I had been bugging a friend of mine to get the game for a long time, and he finally did. I eagerly exchanged PSN info with him, only to discover that he never plays the game, but his annoying nine-year-old son does. He's a kid, so I won't be too harsh on him, but he's a level copier, H4H beggar, and he tends to stop gameplay to ask annoying questions like is it me or my son playing. Look, my son's five. He doesn't read or write yet, so there's no point asking him... and if my profile is active at 3:00 in the morning, chances are it is NOT HIM.
OK. I'm venting now. Way off topic. Sorry.
Anyway, he requested join, and I rolled my eyes but I was feeling generous and thought he might be gobsmacked by the awesomeness of the lvl and shut up and play. He shows up and launches right into "Hey, who is this?" and "What are you doing up so late?" (my response: "I'm a grown-up, dude. Why are YOU up so late") and "I got new costumes... Wanna see?"
...grrrrrrrr...
So I dragged him around from checkpoint to checkpoint while he showed me all the new Marvel costumes. The checkpoints were close enough and the camera angles wide enough that I could see what I was doing, and make progress even while he stopped every three steps to mess with his pop-it. I didn't score real high, but I got the satisfaction of dragging this kid around a beautiful level like a rag doll, and generally annoying him back. A rare treat.

Thanks Lockstitch!

What a wonderful created level! The moving/rotating plattforms made me grin when I saw them first - just wonderful how they behave. The visuals are also very nice - everyting fits together perfectly. This level is pure fun and I defenitely will play this again. Keep up the great work lokstitch! You're an artist! I still can't believe that this is just your third level.... amazing...

Well, I have to say, that was some experience. The visuals of the level were nice, I liked seeing all those stickers and decorations within the materials; it just added so much detail to what already looked detailed. The movement of some of the red platforms and the way certain parts of the level changed combined with the music was just a perfect combo. There was quite a bit of 2-way switch action but it didn't really detract from the experience at all.

:star::star::star::star::star: and a <3. Loved it.

I've played this level about 4 times now and i know it will never bore me.
I love the design, the materials you have used and the game play.
Its amazing how the red platforms move around the level as if they are not connected to anything.
You have created some game play that has never been seen before. You should be proud of yourself!
I gave this level a well deserved heart and i rated it 5 stars. Well done Lockstich

So I played this level because I saw it after playing "A Realm Forgotten." I am simply amazed and what you have been able to do. This is endlessly creative and wholeheartedly amazing. I really want to know how you get your platforms to follow a path the way they do. (Unless of course that is a trade secret of some sort.) :star::star::star::star::star: for an amazing level. You use of materials, thin layers, the corner editor, stickers and decorations is nothing short of breathtaking. I really love the look of all your levels. You have also incorporated some interesting game play elements that I haven't seen executed quite like you have. Your mechanics are nearly flawless. I'm amazed at how solid your snaking, spinning grab platforms are as they circulate around the level.

I would love to see what you could do with some more challenging platform elements, and/or more puzzles to solve to activate your wondering mechanics, as I agree that just running and hitting a switch. I also like more challenging platforming elements (as you've no doubt deduced from playing my levels.) However, I still enjoy an easy romp through a great looking level from time to time!!

Game play :star::star::star::star: (would have given it a 3 for being a little easy, but some of your unique elements earned another star)
Mechanics: :star::star::star::star::star::star: (yeah, that's 6 stars)
Terrain & Materials: :star::star::star::star::star:
Decoration :star::star::star::star::star:
Music :star::star::star::star::star:

Overall :star::star::star::star::star: plus a <3. I gave you a creator <3 your last level, but it would have earned another!

Hey Lockstitch, I went to play this for the umpteenth time but I was surprised to see that it was locked!
Did you lock it yourself or has it been unfairly moderated?

Edit: Nevermind, I found out in the level comments for "A Realm Forgotten". Very smart move!

Both Granite Gardens and A Realm Forgotten are superb!
I have played GG 16 times and ARF 34 times :O.

I love your use of emitters and your attention to detail in the enviroments is superb! A pleasure to play and I enjoy playing them every time, i cannot wait to see how you step it up in your next level!

I was wondering though whether there are any secret areas in GG as i am 5 on the score board with 6,540 points but the person who is first has over 9,000, so I was assuming there is a secret area or something because that score is way high, If you could let me know somehow via PM or on here id appreatiate it loads as i searched the levels loads and couldn't see any way of getting any where near that score.

Anyways it was superb you have given me inspiration to try and use emmiters more in any future levels i try to create.

Lastly how do you get those platforms to follow that specific path in GG, i cant see or think of any way you would have done it? Its very clever!

Well done and look forward to seeing you in many Community Spotlights in the future!

Another great level from Lockstitch. The gameplay is magnificent as I'm amazed with the floating platforms move like no other. The visuals are neat too. Not only does this level received 5 :star:s and a <3 but you deserved one too as an author.2010-08-12 20:16:00

I played this tonight and the level really is the brother of "A realm forgotten" and you know what? This isn't a bad thing at all because I wanted more.
I will probably repeat something similar than what I said about your other level I suppose. This is some genuinely simple + fun level. This is exactly what I feel to play sometimes in LBP. Straight forward, simple, beautiful and with contraptions making me go "woaaa" or "niiiiiiiiiice". I love the corshkrew snakes part in this one. Your 2 bridge platforms at the beginning of the level are also very cool. Well, it looks like it's a strenght of yours to come up with nice and original contraptions. I can't wait to see what you'll do in the futur. Anyhow, continue your great work!

This level gave me the same feeling of youe last. At first everything is all good and fun, but when I reached midway point into it, I thought wow, this is awesome. The first levels main draw was the emitted platforms, while this was the movement of the floating platforms, which is equally as good. I cant wait to see what you come up with next. Amazing work .2010-08-14 14:51:00

This level's amazing. So is the other one of yours I played. I wish I could reason the level of quality away in my head with "this has to be jackofcourse" but it seems not; so all I can say is congratulations on being awesome and instantaneously one of the best/my favorite creators on here.

The behind-the-scene platform movement was soooo good.

More, please.

This level is Amazing!

The platforming seen in the video at 0:40min, 1:26min, 3:52min look like platforms are connected to wheels or rockets on the back layer and emitted onto tracks...I managed to put something together but it isn't as solid as Lockstitchs...

C'mon Lock, give us a hint?

Yeah, I'm not sure which specific platforming parts you are speaking of....but basically most of my more complex ideas run on "background mechanics" which are normally a collection of mechanics connencted somehow in the back layer.2010-10-13 17:26:00

The design is top notch, and gameplay is very fun, but I have to say what grabs my attention and inspires me is your 'more complex ideas'. The more complex logic is probably easy for you, being that your a math teacher

The Mechanics I really enjoyed were at 0:40min, 1:26min, 3:52min
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kIsSQ3uE7HA&feature=player_embedded

Would you ever consider creating a basic video tutorial of some mechanics for LBPC, it doesn't have to give away all your secrets, just something that could inspire others in their level...it could even be an idea for your next contest...community can make use of one of the techs in the tutorial through out their level...who ever makes the best use of it wins.

Hey, Granite Gardens has now been updated. It had been bothering me for a while. I honestly churned this level out a bit fast at the end of the summer. Since then I have wished that I took more time on it. So anyway I just did. Main change is the inclusion of a story character and a new icon. Some more bubbles were placed as well.2010-12-26 03:01:00
