When do you think we'll unlock major stuff in Story Mode?

Archive: 8 posts

The Beta thread reminded me about how everything in LBP is from prize bubbles.

In LBP1, every major gameplay tool was included in the Gardens or tutorials- everything after that was merely decorative, nothing that really altered the actual gameplay- in the Story mode, mind you, not DLC.

However, LBP2 is adding a whole lot more major additions.

It may seem like and probably is a minor quarrel, but I hope they don't throw all the major things (like the Grappling Hook, Sackbots, DCS, ect) in the first world. Hopefully they have a "tutorial" level of sorts for every major thing, and THAT'S where you find them. for instance, we already saw the Grappling Hook was in the Dave Inchi area, so we're probably getting that thee. However, things like the Sackbots that were shown in the Fuzzy industrial levels- think we'd have to get them there?

Basically, I want every major gameplay feature to have a level in the Story Mode, spread out, so you'd have to play the whole thing to get everything major. Of course not hidden, just spread out.

Speaking of which, anyone else hoping that some prize bubbles require you to get a high score in minigames? <_< >_>

As long as it doesn't requires multiplayer challenges / acing a impossible level / collecting all items in a huge level, I'm in. They need to be easily obtainable!

For story mode objects: NOOOOOOO!!!
For community objects: Ok.

Well, Just bacause theyre seen in the fluffyhigh tech levels, that doesnt mean we are going to get them in that set of levels. By the style of the default sackbot, "Dave Inci" looks to be the one who created them. So my guess is tht we would get the grapple hook and sackbots in the first few levels we play.

OH, I forgot to add this to my thread, put they are packing 50 base story levels with the game, So we will have LOTS to collect in the game!

The major things should be gotten earlier in the game so you can get all the tutorial junk outta the way and get to pure level goodness. Some people might not want to complete story mode before starting creating, and to have a major component deep into the game would be a hassle for them. Stuff from high scores isnt a bad idea, but nothing too important.2010-08-04 23:34:00

Rather than Highscores, they could probobly put some of the prizes as "collect a certain amount of bubbles to unlock
So-and-so.

Yeah, why bother with play mode?
It's not like MM creates good levels or anything.

But yes, a tutorial grab bag of key items would be helpful for some people.

Actually giving the good stuff in the first world is not all that bad. I mean, as far as I am concerned, I wouldn't even lock anything and offer the player EVERYTHING in create mode for the start. I mean, one should be able to sort of not play the single player mode from beginning to end to get the stuff to create. So having the stuff in the first is striking a nice balance between annoying some people and giving everything away from the get go.
