Props for not following the sheep till now.

The most useful thing I have found with it is keeping up to date on Insomniac games. lol.
Saves money on texts too since everyone else is on it 24/7.

I check it once a week or so which defies the point somewhat.

Farmville!
No seriously, don't EVER start that... I haven't but I have seen how it goes...

Umm so yeah, on facebook you can write when you wake up, then update your status that you are eating breakfast, take a picture of your breakfast and maybe someone will like it. You can also tag the cereal in the picture. Oh yeah, there is also this new feature... if someone happens to write a comment about your breakfast, you can also like that comment.

Umm and when it's your birthday, every single person who has added you on FB will gratulate you, even those who added you because they know you from somewhere but have never said hi.

I have it as it is a good way to contact friends, since I have now left school (planning uni) it is nice to keep in contact with people.2010-08-04 13:24:00

My friends made me get facebook.

I think I've used it two or three times since I've had it. Just to let people know I'm attending an event.

So uh, no I can't give you any good reasons. Unless you like to read petty online arguments, that's mostly teens, but we have youtube for than anyway.

But seriously I use Facebook to view photos that my friends put on.

Bleah.. I refuse to join facebook. It's a plot! ..I have no proof, but I say it's a plot!

Just seems like yet some other software toy to maintain for the benefit of advertisers. They are the customers, facebook members are simply "data" for them to farm.

If people need to contact you, they can email, send a PM here, or your visitors page.

Yes, facebook is a plot. A plot to sell your private information to advertisers. For years now facebook has received grief regarding their privacy policies. They have been known to give out their users private information to advertisers in an attempt to track your browsing history and tailor their advertisements to best suit your interests. In may, several organizations filed complaints against facebook with the Federal Trade Commission for making previously private details available to the public. Recently, people have been deleting their facebook accounts as a response to the newly updated privacy policies that release more of peoples private information to the public.

SOURCE: This comes straight out of the July 2010 PC World magazine folks. So you know it's legit.

It's just another run-of-the-mill, social-networking site like MySpace and Bebo. The only reason I see it as useful is to be up-to-date on something you like (Ex. game companies). Either that or be social with the FaceBook community, telling about and showing pictures of yourself. A positive about it would be that you can stay in touch with the friends you know and your family. Other than that, phooey on you, FaceBook. 2010-08-04 14:49:00

Top security tip peoples: If you don't want your personal information visible on the internet, don't put it on the internet. It makes me laugh when people ***** that their profile data is not safe online. You put it there, you eejit. You know what? It's not safe to leave your baby unattended in the shopping mall, but it is not the mall's fault if you leave your baby there and something happens!

Note that the privacy policy snafu was altered pretty darn quick once it was apparent how it was too complex for people to understand and the selling of user data to advertisers appears to be a misunderstanding on a elated topic, where facebook was passing on identifiers to advertisers, which could then be used to access publicly available information - i.e. the user chose to put it out there for all and sundry to see. Ditto the recent publishing of profile data over bit-torrent, by a third party.

connect with old friends, current friends, plan gatherings, upload/view pictures... personally i find it invaluable. i dont really make new friends over it, and i dont do much internet/game friend stuff. that feels weird to me.2010-08-04 15:53:00

I admit it, facebook trolling can be hilarious. Many times have people I met once or twice gone crazy at me over the internet for no apparent reason (Well, maybe I did post offensive things on their wall, but meh).

Other than that, I just use facebook because everyone else does, I prefer bebo but barely anyone uses it, so facebook it is!

I have my profile to check out different knews and such, plus, since almost all of my school is on facebook I just have to log on and ask somebody if I need some information.

Apart from that, it is the best way to stalk people... Erm, I mean playing farmville... :kz:

1. Do not play games - these are time killers and if you tend to be competitive or compulsive they can become a real issue.... trust me on this.

2. Don't click anything that promises stuff free or take surveys - total waste of time and usually run by a 15 year old who gets lol's from wild goose chases.

3. Don't accept friend requests from random people.... they happen and they're not usually the type of person/company you'd like to have around.

4. Don't accept friend requests from old school buddies/friends if you aren't still friends with them. The laundry comes out and the guilt trips... it's messy - best avoided.

So ya, basically just connect to current friends and use the chat.... that's about all it's good for.

It's nice to get in contact with your friends and old friends, and to catch up on plenty of stuff (from your fave celerity or something like that). I like to see pictures from the latest get-together thing as well. I avoid groups and games though.

But take care with your private settings and what you put up.

Congratulations! You should probably know that eventually the facebook demons come out of the walls and will try to eat your eyeballs. This happens to everyone sooner or later. But don't worry about it, there's an easy solution: Just commit suicide! (http://suicidemachine.org/)

Just keep in mind that there's always a way out.

For, you know... When the demons come for your eyes.

1. troll pages and people (**** move but fun)
2. spam other peoples pages by linking your facebook account without your youtube account (it'll link everytime you like/favourite a video) goes under trolling though
3. use it to keep in touch with old friends; I've found a few friends who left when we were 9 or so, found the again

I troll most of the time though...

I really hate the images that make you "like" them and complete a survey just to look at them. I tried one of them once and at the end the survey it asked for my phone number and address.2010-08-06 17:40:00

I <3 fb trolling. Me and two friends trolled someone who had recently managed to get a boyfriend, and this was a comment from the boyfriend's sister:

'u three are a bunch of ***** with sad little lives and nothing better to do than comment on some **** coz u have nothin better to do !! just **** off and annoy someone else !!!!'

That's not even the best material, it's great.

Well..
Tbh..
You could spend the time you troll to learn a new trade/skill, work on your hobby or find a job.

So I kinda agree with that bf's sister on this case.

I spent maybe 15 seconds writing that comment, and over an hour on my hobby. Plus, I'm 14, so I don't have commitments like a serious job or anything.

I keep getting Friend Requests from people at school who I don't like. I'm not sure whever to accept and let them peer into my geeky life, or decline and have them irratate me asking why I declined, so I have 31 Friend Requests that I'm not sure what to do with.

Having said that, I hardly went on it and all I do when I'm there is question my friends on the usefullness of FaceBook in the first place.

If you click 'ignore' it declines them but they never find out about it.

Most my friends became against facebook ever since that south park episode came out, and when my sister blocked my family and my dad had her re-add everyone, she said "god i feel like staaan!"

so if you really wanna know what it's good for, it's a convenient way to keep track of almost every person you met in your life. it's a lot easier to get involved with than myspace, and the fact that you don't need to know advanced html or have a username or have a flashy profile background that takes minutes to load and all you see are large spam comments and annoying music you can't pause until the page fully loads certainly helps that.
i never use the games for it [i know they are addicting], and you needn't post what you ate for breakfast or how big your crap was [that's what twitter's for ]. you use it for whatever you want to use it for

Twitter?
How can people write "Im sitting on a chair watching tv".. while in fact EVERY person on twitter can only write one thing.
"sending message on twitter" "sending message in twitter" because.. thats what they are doing.
