What would you do if your the last person alive on Earth?

| This has always been an interesting and fasinating question I often ask people and most of the time their replies are stupid, e.g sit at home etc. Although imagine your sitting at home one day and poof, everyone disappears except you and other non human creatures. What do you do first? How will you survive? Can you rebuild the human population again? Please look up on Google, Life after People Channel 4 Its a 3 hour long programme about what life is like after people and it goes from 1 second to 20 million years. It is extremely interesting. | Serious: If I didn't knew that I was the last person alive, I would walk around the wastelands, screaming to see if someone was alive... After many tries I would end up dying of starvation or even boredom. If I knew I was the last one... Maybe I would enjoy these days doing what I always wanted to do but never could... And then end it all... Btw, I imagine myself doing some crazy things, like getting on my dad's car and using it to move. I can't drive, but with noboy around, who cares? If energy was still on I could stay for hours staring at my computer screen, reading the posts at LBPC and another forum I haven't visited for months (must be a desert now). How would I end it? Maybe end it in a interesting way. I've always wanted to be able to pilot planes. Maybe I would get inside a plane, and try piloting it. I will die anyway... | I concur with the raiding of the gun shops ... I'd also have to procure a good, sturdy truck. (I already have one but why not have a better one?) I would try to keep guns of common calibers so that no matter where I am I'll be able to get ammunition for it ... well... sort of. I figure there's enough ammo on the planet to last me my life if I just use it to hunt and defend myself from animals. Also, I'm sure I can also procure some very good quality knives. I also hope there's enough gasoline to last me driving around. Other than that... I'd also raid all the top secret government bases and secret holy libraries and what not, see what's going on. | My first step would be to get a dog. I get lonely easily. The next step is raid some store for some generators and get to a fuel station as fast as possible. The generators would allow me to power fuel poumps, and since no one else would be using gasoline, getting around would be pretty easy. Step 3 would be something about getting a decent amount of good medical supplies. Step 4? Some sort of RV for good mobility and decent accommodation. Step 5. Get down to NASA and send signals to see if people on the space station survived. Ahhh, this is a waste of time. | What do you do first? I know this sounds bad, but I would probably steal (or is it stealing?) as many supplies and useless objects as I can from stores and everywhere else and try to hoard them into one house. I would probably develop irrational paranoia and decide to stay in one room for as long as possible. How will you survive? Just try to learn how to prepare food through trial and error and consume anything I need to survive. I would hoard things by day in a car or truck and stay locked up in my room of choice at night. Can you rebuild the human population again? Probably not, I may end up dying from either old age, lack of proper nutrition, or suicide...My intense irrational paranoia may get the best of me... ------------------------------------- This would be my honest course of action if I was the last person alive. | I think I saw that show on TV or something similar anyawy, very interesting. I've actually thought abot the question before. I think I'd make for a pretty good last person alive. It's in a spoiler because it's pretty long Ok, where to start? If I was the last person on earth I don't think I'd go mad for quite a long time. I would probably make it a game, try and see just how long i could survive for by myself. I'd find myself a couple of nice cats, a dog and maybe a couple of of other animals. They would at least keep my same for reasonable time. Power Obviously there would be no-one to run the power stations but there's still plent of avaliable power. Firstly I would set myself up somewhere that had solar panels installed so I would have reasonably constant power. I know a few service (or gas) stations have solar panels installed. They also have petrol, deisel, LPG, and gas bottles. There would be plenty of other power supplies if I looked aound such as batteries, lighters etc. I'd stock up on as much of these as I could get my hands on. Car batteries would be good I'd collect a whole of them. And If I could get away without using the aforementioned power supplies I'd use good ol' fashion fire. Food Another advantage of setting up camp at the service station is that it will already have a whole bunch of food in it. Also I doubt the solar panels would be able to run the fridges, hopefully I would find a way to power a fridge and a freezer, so untill then I have all the bags of ice in the big cold rooms. The next thing I'd do is go down to Bunnings with a ute, or a truck. I'd fill it up with all the fruit and vegetable plants and a buch of other supplies such as gas bottles and stoves. Good thing I have a bunch of gas at the servo too. I'll probably get some eskies while i'm there as well. Next stop, suoermarket! I'd just completely raid this place of canned food and the like. Depending on how long I last eventually I'll have to start getting my own meat. Seafood would be easy to come by, just get myself a bunch of fishing rods, crab pots etc and I'm set. Oysters would be especially easy to come by, I'm sure I could teach myself to like them. Chickens would also make for easy food plenty of eggs while they're alive and when they're about to die I could cook 'em up. Then there's the crocs, bilbies, kangaroos tey're all good meat sources and I'm sure I could figure out how to kill them. Water No need for boiling water in can yet! There's plenty of places that have bottled water on there shelves. anything from 600ml bottles to 12L bottles. Those alone would last a very long time, there's only one person drinking them after all and some animals. There's plenty more water than that though. Hot water systems. Every house has at least one as well as most other buildings. Drain the water out into some containers and you'll be set. Then If I somehow manage to run out of clean water I can still go back to boiling water over a fire. Transportation Transportation would be easy. Plenty of cars, trucks, boats, motorbikes, bicycles. If I could I'd try to find an electric car. Then I could leave it at another servo or house that had solar energy and charge it up as much as I wanted. Before that though I'd use all the fuel cars already had in them an whatever the servo's around town had. Health Hopefully health shouldn't be a big issue. I'd head down to the shops get some panadol and bandaids etc. Toothbrushes, tooth paste, soap, disinfectant. Unless I get some serious illness these should sufice. Comfort Comfort would be good fun. I'd set off to the shops and get myself the best bed imaginable. Along with the best couch, chairs, tables, clothes. The servo would be a pretty comfortable place to stay. nice indoor area big enough for one and a large covered outdoor area. I would probably make a barrier around it though to keep out unwanted animals. FUN STUFF I'm the last person alive I've gotta make the most of it! First order of business, find a really fast car and just go racing all around town, maybe get a 4WD and go bush bashing. I'd also go down to the police station and get me some guns, oh the fun I could have with them, I'd get some paintball guns while I'm at it and make a fruit bazooka too. I could teach myself how to play a whole variety of instruments. Smash things, 'cause smashing stuff is always good fun. Light stuff on fire, I'd probably have a huge fire constantly burning at my new home. Of course I would contain it safely so it didn't burn anything down. Then I could do a bunch of not so destructive things like go to the beach, watch all the DVD's I wanted, play all the computer games I wanted. But i would probably do the typical thing, explore until finally ending it all.. Which makes me wonder why only every human vanished. Not other creatures, just humans. Did aliens take them away? | lots of creatures exist that dont have brains but they are alive..like germs and bacteria. life in its simplest form, like ameobas....thats where life comes from and they dont have brains but they still live. jellyfish also do not have a brain but they are alive we cant be bred from something that isnt alive, our sperm and eggs would be useless if they werent alive. if i went to a sperm bank and they didnt freeze it, it would eventually die, and then become useless and cant be used to breed. thats why they freeze it, to keep it alive for future use otherwise it goes off sperms and eggs have to be alive in order for them to work. and that is why if all huimans were taken off the planet, what they use to breed would also be taken away as its just essentially the tool kit for a human being and part of us...i mean we do make the stuff after all | 2010-08-04 14:15:00 Author: Xegethra Posts: 207 |

| They are cells. They have a nucleus. Nucleus=Brain Cells=Life are sperm and eggs cells?... I forgot Nucleus =/= brain; nucleus is merely a bubble to store DNA and other stuff in and has pores to allow the entry of ribosomes. Prokaryotes (bacteria) have ringed DNA and plasmids rather than a nucleus filled with DNA. Sperm n eggs are gametes which are cells. Each has 23 chromosomes of single chromatids if I remember correctly and so when sperm n egg join you get the full set of 46 chromosomes with single chromatids which is enough for a human cell. Interesting ones would be viruses which have DNA and very little else to my knowlege, arguable whether they are alive.
