Haunted Zombie AdventureRottinghouse
A horror stage with general puzzle solving, platforming, and zombies.
Please search for this stage under the PSN ID "Kaleena05". She came up with the idea, and 99% of the layout and asked me to build it for her. I don't need hearts or stars on my account, but I'm sure she would love some feedback on hers. This stage took about a week to build, and it was really refreshing to work on while taking a break from the stage I've been working on since LBP first launched. I hope everyone enjoys it as much as I enjoyed building it.

(Review this level as I play)
First off, I would like to say what an amaaazing use of atmosphere! I've played a lot of "scary" games in lbp but you have done an excellent job! Great choice in lighting, color, and design! CAUTION BELOW MAY SPOIL SOME PUZZLES SO DO NOT READ UNTIL YOU'VE PLAYED THE LEVEL!!!!

- Creepy tinkly music is a plus!
- NICE I've never thought about using stickers as puzzle pieces (yeah i'm pretty slow)
- Creepy boat music is a plus!
- Very nice vanishing house outside portion
-Lolz at flipping vase
- Very nice furniture (especially the couch in the second house)
- I really really like your music selection in the sewer!

Overall very very nice level, only complaint I would have was that I would've liked more, and harder puzzles near the end for an epic ending, but still this deserves a :star::star::star::star::star: and a <3!

And hey! I made a level just like yours! (99% inspired by my gf, but I made her world come to life) come check it out!
Noi World (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=34358-Noi-World)

P.S. I got first place .

Feedback here would be great, but please play it on her account so she can get some recognition for it.

Thanks for the feedback. You're right, a puzzle at the end would have been nice, but the stage overheated and I had to change materials and remove story elements to even complete the last section. There were supposed to be ghosts along with the zombies but I just didn't have room, the only ghostly parts still in the stage are the flipping vase, the banging when you enter the second house, and the whispering. There was supposed to be a story about a couple who lived there but it had to be taken out, although there is still a picture of them in the second house. I'll be playing yours in a few minutes, and I'll return the favor with some feedback.

Oh no..... That's really unfortunate because those story elements would've boosted that level over the top! Really sorry for it though , but I guess it happens. Alright thanks for the future F4F!

I'm sure it'll get updated with zombie Sackbots when LBP2 comes out, and that should leave room to add the story and puzzles back in I hope. She's got a few ideas about a sequel too, which sounds interesting so far, but she only has a basic concept in mind, without actual locations or platforming bits.

Haha, I totally forgot that lbp2 will allow you to edit your lbp1 levels. Well, whenever this happens (or a sequel comes out) I'll be sure to check it out .

Ok, so... Review....

Well, the start of the level looks awesome. I really like the hills and the fireflies, but the moon would probably look cooler if you had used the 50 layer glitch (found here (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=22765-How-to-use-the-3D-layer-glitch-video-tutorial!&highlight=glitch)) to make the moon seem a bit more real.

Getting to the house now, (nice boat by the way, music and the oar sticker work really well). Nice that there's no real storyline, just that you go home a different way, and end up in a house full of zombies (as you do). the house itself looks awesome, and the way the walls disappear is really good, and has inspired me to make something like this, but the walls disappear when you walk in the room and reappear when you leave... Anyway, nice looking house, and the zombies look really good. Nice to see them facing the player rather than the screen. One small problem though in the first room: When I destroyed the wall and killed (should that be rekilled?) all the zombies, I saw I had to get up to the top level because the door didn't open. So I pulled the chairs close to the table and jumped onto the lights above the table and then jumped up and grabbed the chandelier. This took me about 5-10 minutes, and when I replayed the level with Rottinghouse, I saw that I had been doing it all the wrong way... Maybe if you make it clearer what to do, like a little magic mouth that says something like: 'Geez, I think this wall is hollow' or something, then players could spend more time playing rather then jumping and screaming at chairs that don't move properly >_< .Still, got there in the end.

A few thinks that I really liked were the hidden points, (so devilishly hidden };D), the thunder and lightning effects, the glass that comes out of the window when you jump through, and the bouncy sofa. One thing that really got on my nerves was the camera, that sometimes didn't let me see the things I needed to, like the passage in the rising room. Speaking of which, when I played the level for the first time, I loved the way the clock struck midnight and then the whole room rose up, but unfortunately, the room jammed halfway up, but I thought that was what was meant to happen, so I spent my next quarter of an hour trying to find a way out (I thought there was a secret passage through the top of the clock >.<). When I replayed the level with Rottinghouse and he showed me the way out, I would have had problems finding my way out because of the camera angle... Still, I got to play it in the end.

I loved the little details like the cobweb on one of the street lamps, the spikes on top of the railings, and the way the light holders curve. And the street at the end looked particularly good.

So, here's my overview:
GOOD POINTS :
-fireflies
-boat and oar 'puzzle'
-details (cobwebs, etc...)
-side facing zombies
-a flippin' flipping vase!
-nice puzzle elements
-nicely made objects
-good use of lighting
-the breaking window
-thunder and lightning (very very frightning me. GALLILEO! GALLILEO! GALLILEO MAGNIFICOOOOOooooooo....)
-the clock with moving hands as part of the puzzle
-the street at the end
-the music
-the secret-dissolve wall that makes a noise when you hit it
-the whole atmosphere

BAD POINTS :
-the camera sometimes got in the way
-instructions not clear enough at times
-the moon been a bit flat (but I'm just nit-picking here )
-I think that's it...

So, all in all, a very good must play level, with some good atmosphere, ideas and undead. So I gave it :star::star::star::star::star:, a <3, and a 'Brilliant' tag, because it is!

So... Yeah, well done on reading all this, and not dying of boredom halfway through, and been resurrected as one of Rottinghouse's zombies

Yeah, whatever ^^

Glad you liked it, and sorry for the technical hiccups. I'll let her know that we have to work on a few things and hopefully we can make it a little less frustrating. Oh, and about the moon, I really don't like using glitches other than mirror glass, so it's probably going to stay flat 2010-09-05 20:32:00
