Sackboy in a Fighting Game!

I'm making Sackboy into a fighting game engine called Mugen.
The engine allows anyone to create characters, background stages and other game objects through interpreted text files, graphics, and sound compilations.
Dream battles such as Goku vs. Superman or Ryu vs. Scoprion is made possible with Mugen.

Here is a preview of my sprite sheet. Note that I put the images in JPG so that it would be very difficult for anyone to steal them from me and that was intentional. I simply wish to show my work as of now and would like any suggestions from you guys as to the kinds of things Sackboy should be able to do in a fighting game.

Well I would but I'm not sure how to take a picture of that... and that goes more towards the scripting in the game itself. I would need sprites for the fluff and stuff that comes out of sackboy when he pops.2010-08-03 15:28:00

I need suggestions for different types of attacks please.
Sackboys reach is too small and I'd like some ideas to make him more effective in COMBAT!

if you tilt the sackboy's head down, it looks like he could do a headbutt, Maybe that could be another of his attacks?

For attaking, you should trial-and-error a picture of Sackboy slapping.

wow! that looks awesome!
i noticed on psp wen u use the punching action sackboys arms get bigger. he also kicks. if u have the psp version you should check it out. if not.. youtube?
another attack could be a mario-like jumping up punch

For his death sprite, why don't you have him lying face-down, y'know, like he just got slapped? It sure looks like he'd be dead then (though I DO think that the death sprite already there works fine). And, I do agree with SH, slapping would be nice.

Otherwise, good work with what you have so far!

Sounds cool, I've played mugen before and always found it fun finding characters that don't normally belong in fighting games. As for attacks, I dunno how ambitious you want to be. If you've ever player pocket fighter the characters switch between outfits and stuff just through moves. Given we can dress sackboy up you could have costume specific attacks. But would require some effort on your part as I doubt just capturing images would do it.2010-08-09 06:49:00
