Does a non-wireless contrller work with LBP???

Archive: 16 posts

I just bought two non-wireless controllers off of ebay, and I want to know if I can play LBP with them. I know with the wireless one you can shake the siraxis to let go of the jetpack, and u move the controller to shake his head, but does anybody know from beta expereince if you can play littlebigplanet normally without a wireless controller? That is, a plug-in controller?
Thanks

Uhm, I didn't even know wired controllers existed. So unless you made a bad choice in buying something that isn't even compatible with the PS3, then does it plug into the USB ports? SIXAXIS is something special, so if I were to guess, I'd say that those controllers do not have that function, in fact, I'm not even sure those controllers will work for the PS3. Could you post some pictures of them?2008-10-16 14:43:00

Actually Clank, they make 3rd party PS3 controllers with a sixaxis-like technology that accomplishes what sixaxis does, just less accurately. A lot of them are wired, as well. I don't see why they wouldn't work, actually.2008-10-16 14:46:00

Oh, it's just that I've never seen a wired PS3 controller.

The Wired Controllers should have Six-Axis, I haven't heard any news that it doesn't.
But I did read that they don't have a PS button though, so that might be a slight problem.

I'll look more into it.

Well, just because you've never seen something, it doesn't mean it doesn't exist.

Edit: Ok so, I just did a little research. It really depends on which wired controllers you bought, because apparently there's different ones. I think all of them are non-Sony products too. Some have the SixAxis, some don't. :| So I'm not sure what you bought here.

There are also attachments to attach a PS2 controller via USB to save money on a second controller, and that has no six-axis like motion obviously.

To the original poster, my apologies, but I just can't tell you for sure.

Ok, there is no name on my PS3 controller, does anybody know of a demo game that utilizes SIXAXIS that I can install to see if the controller can handle sixaxis?2008-10-16 16:39:00

I didn't say it didn't exist, now did I? I haven't seen the Loch Ness Monster, but I believe that he/she exists.

Blast Factor Demo. You jerk the controller left or right to make a shockwave.

Uhm, sorry to burst your bubble, but that's not true. The camera view is changed with an analog stick, not the SIXAXIS.

I've bought generic 3rd party controllers like that before for my PS2, it's really not worth the money you save, trust me. They break faster and they're less accurate. Even the big brands of 3rd party controllers aren't always that great. You may want to pick up a spare DualShock 3. Amazon sells them for $45, but if you wait it's likely that Amazon will eventually drop the price (they were $40 last month).

You can get wired PS3 pads but they're not made by Sony. But I can't think why they wouldn't work with LBP!2008-10-16 18:34:00

Thank you FlakMagnet, I installed Rub-a-dub (X_x) and my third party ps3 controllers do have sixaxis capabilities, not real accurate, but I dont need it to be accurate, I just want to be able to wiggle the Sackboy's head, and shake off the jetpack. THANKS ALL WHO COMMENTED!!!

PS2 controllers (via USB converter) DOESN'T work with LBP. That's a big fail for sony Yesterday i have friends came to play 4 at the same time, and we couldn't even start playing with wired controllers. They do work with any other game, but NOT with LBP..2008-11-15 09:58:00
