This level includes:
An underground and underwater cave theme, complete with rocks and stuff.
A spinning maze bigger and more complicated than any of the previous ones. It may look simple enough, but every ring and wall of the maze is rotating at different speeds and opposite directions. What a nightmare it was to create.
Simple and addictive gameplay - bubble machines will randomly activate for several seconds before changing. Navigate your way through the maze as quickly as possible to reach the bubbles to refill your air supply. Get lost or run out of time and you'll drown. Muahahaha!
A Kraken, whom I like to call 'the Subtle Sea-Monster'. He sneaks up behind the maze, trying to get your attention, yet players rarely notice him at first because they're so busy concentrating on surviving. This makes him angry, and he'll slam his tentacles into the cave walls, which somehow simultaneously causes the maze to change direction, the water to change colour and the level to get harder. He doesn't give up, either.
Four waves of difficulty. Things start nice and easy with 3 active bubble machines at once, but after each wave this will decrease until there's only 1 at a time. They also change faster. And small rocks start falling in the maze from wave 2, which don't hurt but can block your path a bit.
A helpful miner chappie at the start and end of the level with 8 different phrases depending on how long you manage to survive.
A cameo appearance from the star of everybody's favourite (or, more likely, least favourite) Shark Survival levels.

Tips and tricks:
Don't die.
Wear a costume with something that glows. It gets rather dark in the final wave.
You don't have to be right next to a bubble machine to refill your air supply, sometimes you can still reach it from above even with a wall between you.
Point bubbles are emitted from active bubble machines. If you stay around the bubble machine you can usually get a good x3 or x4 combo.
Bonus points are awarded each time the Kraken strikes. If you've got a good combo going at this time, the extra points will boost that up, and with a bit of luck you can get x10 multipliers or higher.
Don't bother staying still hoping a bubble machine near you will activate - it probably won't.

Extra info:
The level works best with 1 player. Unfortunately the camera doesn't zoom out far enough for you to see all of the maze, so if you're playing with friends it can get tricky. Lag doesn't help either.
Huge thanks to comphermc for making the triple randomizer logic that makes the bubble machine gameplay possible! Watching this thing in action makes my brain hurt.
Thanks to BasketSnake, RazerPhoenix, Chimpanzee, jwwphotos, chrisa3211 and anyone else who popped along and helped playtest the level and give valuable feedback.
Thanks to whoever made the original shark.[/div]

Ah, but in this one you should last a bit longer than 5 seconds. The only ways you can die is either from being crushed (unlikely, but still can happen if you get trapped by rocks or the spinning walls of the maze) or by running out of air. So you should manage at least 30 seconds, anyway. 2010-08-02 19:01:00

Yes, there is plenty of air... You see those bubble machines on the back walls of the maze? When they light up, the bubble machines are active. I thought it was pretty obvious, but I guess not.

Thanks! How well did it work with 3 players? I've only tried it with 2 recently.

Beauty sleep can wait. The sea monster grows impatient.

OOooo this is up!?? Awesome!

Yup! Although the gameplay has changed quite a bit since you last saw it. No more spinny light beam laser or floaty electric things....

Awesome Awesome Awesome level!! Did I say AWESOME? Well.. it is!!

I love the entry as well as all the fun stuff happening behind the scene. Hysterical... though if you watch all that, you are dead!! DEAD I SAY!! I also like all the nice detail surrounding the level. Wonderful and quite addictive to play! Even all the funny bits depending on how long you last was a great and funny touch.

I had 2nd highest score and found it dropped a bit. Returned with a buddy and set the top 2 player score.. for now at least. lol

Great job!!! Works great, sounds great, looks amazing! I found no issues!

100 stars and 50 hearts. ...well, that doesn't quite work though does it? 5 stars and a quite soggy, but still rapidly beating heart.

Checked it out the other day with Morgana. It's truly disorienting the way they all the pieces mode independently, and it's a trip. I played with a few others, and we got the predictable camera issues. Nice job on the little details.

Did you ever manage to add that moving camera so there is vertical tracking? I can be jerky if not done properly, but it should be possible to incorporate. You just need really slow moving pistons. I didn't notice it in there when we played, but I wasn't looking very hard.

WOAH.... nuclearfish - you are one of the best - that's for sure!

I played this jewel yesterday and I really had a great time with it. Great atmosphere, great sounds, brilliant concept with these (different-speed-) rotating elements and the air-emitters. You did an really cool intro-section too - I loved the guy, he's a very cool dude ^^. Very cool backround-style, the tentacles look scarey with that screaming sounds... Awesome

I think this one is an soon-to-be spotlighted level. For my taste there is just a little "but": I personaly don't like it very much, when there is a great luck-factor. I couldn't figure out which air-emitter will be activated next (it's random, ain't it?) so I stucked very often in the dead-end sections without any chance to get to the next air-bubbles. But this is just a little "con". and based on my personal preferences - so nothing wrong with the luck-factor :-)

This level is nevertheless a masterpiece and everything else than :star::star::star::star::star: and <3 would be a shame. You deserve a for this great level.

For F4F it would be nice if you find some time to check out my "Color up your life" - thx in advance!

WOAH, awesome, best survival challenge on the market
At the beginning I thought: "aaaah, come on, how can you ever run out of air in this?" some minutes later my heart was racing as i reached the next bubble machine with only 1 second of air left. shortly after that I drowned .
I also love what happens behind the liqudizer sharks, octopus. You dont even have the time to watch the beautiful scenery in the background.
Love love loved that challenge.

Thanks for the great comments and feedback everyone!

I must admit I'm kind of suprised how difficult everyone seems to be finding it. Three days and I still have the high score! I guess I've just been playing it a bit too much. I rushed it out a bit on Monday morning without much play tetsting after I made major alterations. I think it's better to have a hard challenge than an easy one though (gives you a reason to keep retrying ), so I doubt I'm going to change the difficulty at all.

However, I may change the miner's comments when you finish the level (I don't want him sounding a bit harsh if most players actually don't survive for very long). If anyone could leave a post or level comment saying how far they made it (Wave 1 - how it starts, Wave 2 - green, Wave 3 - Purple/blue, Wave 4 - Red, dark) that might help!

I tried adding it in but it didn't make a lot of difference (assuming I did it right). When you're on your own the camera moves enough anyway for you to see the top and bottom, and I don't think a camera tracker would be much help for multiplayer. If one player goes up and the other down, the camera is still zoomed out the max and can't fit both on at once.

What I should have done is made the maze smaller, but by the time I realised it was a bit late for that!

Yeah, I know what you mean. It used to be a lot worse until a few hours beofre I published it, when comphermc showed me how to block outpouts of the randomizer, which basically means that any bubble machines you're close to won't be randomly selected. Before then the luck seemed to favour you to often - you'd desperately swim to the bubbles, almost make it and it would change... to the one right next to you. Made it a bit too easy.

Heh, until a few days ago you almost never could run out of air. Or at least you'd have to be very unlucky for that to happen. Anyway, getting your heart racing is exactly what I was trying to achive - glad it works!

Btw - about F4F's, I didn't make this an F4F because I always forget to do them. Those people who have asked I will TRY and remember to at least play them.

Wow! Very, very fun and addictive !

The background scenery is stunning. I can't imagine how many connectors are on those octopus tentacles. The wheel is boggling too. I still have no idea how you did it.

The challenge itself is fun and not overly complex. On my first try, I lasted to the 2nd wave, then to the 3rd, then to the 4th on my third try. I got the text that said "I couldn't have lasted much longer myself." Do you mind telling me if anything comes after that?

I love the replay value. All the funny phrases from that worker are enough to make you restart again and again.

Once again, you've made an outstanding survival challenge that will keep me coming back... 5 stars and a heart!

I can't imagine how many connectors are on those octopus tentacles.

One winch on each, plus a piston to push everything up. (EDIT: also one extra on the tentacles that fall down) I thought I would need loads but because they float in the water it wasn't too bad. Not nearly as bad as the plants in Sacky Potter...

The wheel is boggling too. I still have no idea how you did it.

I don't either! I know in theory how it works, but I can't remember how I actually got it to work (I made the actual maze months ago). It uses a lot of overlapping layers of thin gas.

Yep, there's one more! I've only got that far once myself, which kind of makes what he says pointless now. He has 8 phrases in total:

1 at the beginning
1 for Wave 1
1 for Wave 2
2 for Wave 3
3 for Wave 4

Once again, you've made an outstanding survival challenge that will keep me coming back... 5 stars and a heart!

Thanks!

The visuals are just amazing, with all the things happening in the background... wow!
Let?s see where you will take us next... giant spiral made of sponge with grappling hook and it gets filled with evil sackbots...
