EA Play has announced the development of ‘Create’ - available this November for the Wii, PS3 featuring Move compatibility, Xbox 360, PC and MAC.

Looking very similar to LittleBigPlanet, Create “uses families’ imaginations to develop new ways to play together that are both fun and challenging” according to Harvey Elliott, VP and General Manager at EA Bright Light.

Players are tasked with exploring the game, solving level-based challenges, and customizing their world. The more you play, the more rewards will be unlocked.

Players can design environments with easy-to-use brushes and tools which include textures, props and animating objects that bring the scene to life.

On the PS3, Xbox 360, PC and MAC players can share any of their creations, solutions or challenges with the community through the console and also via the official Create website at www.create.ea.com. Friends can download and remix solutions and set challenges for other players to download and complete.

It's funny to see how much that game looks cold and impersonnal compared to LBP.

Seriously, seems like there's a whole bunch of pre-made objects, but... that's all

You can make Create in LBP 2, but you can't make LBP 2 in Create!

At first glance, it looks way to limited to appeal to an older audience...

EA announced what certainly looks like its own take on LittleBigPlanet--a platformer with sandbox level creation named Create that's somewhat lacking in personality.

Create players can, ahem, create their own "level-based challenges" to solve, made with "easy-to-use brushes and tools, including textures, props and animating objects that bring the scene to life." Naturally, completing levels will earn you rewards and levels can be shared online.

"Create uses families' imaginations to develop new ways to play together that are both fun and challenging," said Harvey Elliott, general manager at developer EA Bright Light. "We wanted to design a game where the entire family can explore, decorate, and solve challenges where no solution is wrong and the only limit is the imagination."

Create is scheduled for release this November, with PC, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii and Mac versions in the works. The PS3 edition will boast PlayStation Move features.

LBP rip-off..... it is not. Similar ideas, executed differently. LBP's side scrolling sanbox creator isn't a copyright genre. Any developer can take the idea and use it, just like how all shooters have close similarities.2010-08-02 16:20:00

This doesn't look very good.

It looks alright though for people who don't have a PS3, so can't get LBP.
I just have no idea why they would bring out something on a console that already has something a lot better.

I don't want to say it's a rip-off, but it's obviously heavily inspired by. (E.g. 3D Dot Game Heroes and Zelda.) :/

Although this definitely isn't an LBP clone, it is coming out in November and I have this sickening feeling at the pit of my stomach that because this is on 5 platforms it'll snatch away potential LBP2 buyers.2010-08-02 17:17:00

Haha, I saw score bubbles in the trailer that looked EXACTLY like LBP's.

But... meh... I don't think I'll get the game.

Looks like a fusion of the classic PC series "The Incredible Machine" and LBP. (I still got them, and surprisingly they all work on my Vista). So i wouldn't call it a rip-off of LBP (notice how you don't actually control a person) but that doesn't really excuse them from stealing the bubbles2010-08-02 19:06:00

This looks like it can have some interesting potential but the trailer actually makes it look boring.

I have a feeling it's a lot more boxed in than LBP, but that might not totally be a bad thing. Since it has some cool animated characters and things, it could be interesting. I wonder what it'll be like on Wii.

Oh dear.

EA, if you try and copy an awesome game, at least do it well.

Seriously, the physics look awful, you don't seem to be able to 'create' anything other than placing pre-made objects into pre-made courses and it doesn't even have a real character to control!

Poor show, EA. Poor show indeed.

Even if it did snatch away buyers i'm sure they'd regret it afterwards and have their eye on LBP2 again. It does look pretty terrible in comparison.

As far as I can see you play as nothing, there's things you have to move from one side of a level to another and you have to place objects in the level that will move the thing safely when you tell it to go.

I just hope all the footage in the trailer is recorded from the wii version of the game, those graphics are not the best. You never know it might look way better and have a lot less painful physics on the PS3/X360 versions.2010-08-04 11:49:00

I think you got it backwards m8.
(Except there will be no "potential buyers" for Create. )
I mean, come on, how many "all platform" games do you know that can beat the top "exclusives" for consoles?

This is just ModNations all over, only the game doesn't seem good.

I agree. Like even with me, though I probably wouldn't be considered "an older audience" I would die without all the amazing creative tools that you can use in LBP.

I think EA's trying to have an entry to the play/create/share genre, only problems are:
- They are trying to compete with LBP2, wich is suicide;
- No online aspects. The game is about creating levels and sharing, but playing online seems to be not an option;
- No charm. What can be more charming than a sackboy?
- The graphics. If the graphics in the video are from the PS3/xbox360 version, say goodbye.
