I have alot of free time and usually I get a whole "level" done by the end of the day, but I hear that really good levels take MONTHS to make. Does it matter how fast you make your level?

Wrong forum... Well, it depends on your skills. I take alot of time creating my levels. Creating a level fast, i compare that to rushing a level

not neccisary, when i make my levels it often takes long time cus of the lack of creativity... after 10min of random doodling im back with some awesome ideas, so my levels takes long time cus i pretty much spend my create-time asking myself: "now what...?" but the more time it takes the more you see every single detail of your level... witch can be a good thing... i quess...

I wouldn't say spending a long time is necessary for a good level. But you really see the difference in quality on a level where someone has spent months and on where people have took 1 or 2 days. When you take a long time on a level you make every single thing in your level as good as you can, from something as important as a cut scene to something less important like having birds fly by. it is the small really good details that make the level a good experience for the player.

To rush a creation is useless. Let yourself express through the design, decorate at will, make it so when you look at it, you feel it's quality and that you really like playing it. The creation mode is also an extremely sane and fun way to devellop patience, thought, analytic sense and even practice some psychology!
