Hi what fears or phobias does everyone have? If you gave a strange fear or phobia, don't be afraid to share it will us all. My fears are: Needles and Injections Death Pain Terrorists Flying Getting surgury and getting cut open Finding out I have a bad disease or illness Sometimes heights Choking. (Espically when taking medication) Being in deep waters that I can't stand in. Yes it's a lot of fears and usually I freak out about a lot of stuff and worry. I usually think negative of things e.g say I have a bad stomach ache, I'd immediately think it's a disease and ill die. I guess that's just the way I am. Hopefully this will make an interesting dicussion about fears. | 2010-08-02 00:56:00 Author: Barnsy_AKA_ash Posts: 293 |
Hm... Asking someone I don't know something. It's just awkward, and especially when I need to apologize to them, I just break down into an emotional mess... but I guess that stuff is for another topic... yeah, don't feel too comfortable talking about that stuff ;-; ... but when I was younger, I was scared to death of our bathroom at night when the curtains were closed. I mean, it was just... D: | 2010-08-02 00:58:00 Author: RockSauron Posts: 10882 |

Yeah it is a lot. I'm just a worrier but I'm not sure why. When I was a child about 6 or 7, I had a great fear of this thing I called the bell which actually was a red light in my nannies hall which was for heating. I remember I used to think the bell lived in the reflection of the dark window at night of the living room. Mad imagination I guess. | 2010-08-02 01:05:00 Author: Barnsy_AKA_ash Posts: 293 |
1. Bees and Wasps. I can't stand still if there is one flying around me. 2. Like above post, I have an strange fear of going to a specific bathroom in my house when it's dark. I think it's related to a moment in my childhood when I thoungh I saw an alien in that bathroom at night. 3. Assassins / Robbers. I'm scared that they will kill me or take away all our hard earned stuff. 4. This one is strange: sometimes, when I'm in my bed, I imagine that a spear could come from below me and kill me. That doesn't terrify me, but I can't take that out of my mind... 5. When I'm playing PS3 at night, the light that comes in some windows make an image similar to a spirit, sometimes I can't stop looking at it and have to turn on the lights. | 2010-08-02 01:06:00 Author: gdn001 Posts: 5891 |

Sharks.... even pics of them (and DON'T YOU DARE!) It's practically clinical.. I freak out and not in the fun lol check her out kind of way.... good thing I don't have to deal with many of them in Wisconsin but I won't swim in freshwater lakes at night here, crazy I know but that's why it's a phobia - it makes no sense. Not a fan of death either... well, I am but not really. Terrified that when you die, you cease to be... which I think really is the reality of it all.... scares the crap outta me. | 2010-08-02 04:20:00 Author: Morgana25 Posts: 5983 |

(Removed for Morgana's sake). Technically it's not a shark. It's a megalodon. My fears? Just Xenophobia. Fear of meeting new people. I'm not really what you'd call a "social butterfly" D: | 2010-08-02 04:44:00 Author: Frinklebumper Posts: 941 |

I have had nightmares a few times where I am in the open ocean like that and I just start slowly sinking and I can't do anything about it...terrifying | 2010-08-02 09:48:00 Author: Unknown User |

Wow some crazy fears there. Did you know The fear of long words is called Hippopotomonstrosesquipedaliophobia. There is another weird fear of thinking a duck is watching you. | 2010-08-02 10:01:00 Author: Barnsy_AKA_ash Posts: 293 |
Umm I'm not really scared of anything, or am I? Umm yes, actually I am. I don't like it when it's dark, so that I can't see properly. Not even when I'm home and I just want to go to the toilet in the middle of the night... Also I have fear of drowning, I just can't imagine the feeling of knowing that there is no way to get air and you are going to die. That's why I hate diving, I can't be underwater for too long, but when I try just normally holding my breath (knowing that I can stop when I want) then I can do it for pretty long. Makes sense. http://pix.motivatedphotos.com/2009/8/14/633858675897434810-Anatidaephobia.jpg EDIT: This was mentioned in the post before me | 2010-08-02 10:03:00 Author: napero7 Posts: 1653 |

Out of curiosity, how do you know o_0 I don't know about Bremnen (I hope that this is not the case...) But there are people that have drowned but have been brought back to life. Out of curiosity, how do you know o_0 When I was about 6 I got caught in an undertow and was sucked under the water long enough that i passed out from lack of oxygen. The burning in your lungs, your brain screaming at you to get get air, knowing that within a few seconds your going to die, words can't describe all the things that race through your head. I got lucky though, some guy pulled me out at the last moment and brought me to shore before i drowned. | 2010-08-02 11:37:00 Author: Bremnen Posts: 1800 |

I got lucky though, some guy pulled me out at the last moment and brought me to shore before i drowned. The same thing happened to me almost when I was 6, I didn't pass out but my brother's friend had to pull me out. That was scary enough for me I can't imagine how you must have felt. People always think my biggest fear is lame. But my biggest fear is the human race itself. my other fears are pretty common, -getting caught in a rift -certain places when it's dark, like Rock the bathroom always creeped my out as a kid -snakes, only when they actually try to bite you | 2010-08-02 12:02:00 Author: SR20DETDOG Posts: 2431 |
Spiders.. ew ew ew.. I hate seeing a big spider in my room :s the small ones doesn't really scare me so much though. I'm also scared of having a nightmare and then it becomes real. I once dreamt I was being dragged under the water, and a few days after it happens exactly like in the dream. That was.. weird. At least it was just my brother that wanted to scare me a bit and not a psycho | 2010-08-02 12:04:00 Author: Mugsig Posts: 85 |

I have extreme fear of jellyfishes. Sometimes I'm afraid of entering the ocean even in shallow areas... Trust me, it's terrible. I was swimming in the ocean with my family when suddenly I felt like a eletrified string hit me, so I screamed and everyone got out of the water. It's terrible because you can't see it coming. I also wonder that it could hit me in the face... I don't have problem diving, but sometimes, when I go to the surface to breath, an big wave comes and I end up swallowing so much water it gets hard to breath. You can't take a breath until you're almost sufocating. I think I'm going to die when tis happens. Glass floors. When a go over one of these I fell like "whoops I almost fell there". I also have fear of really, but REALLY tiny spaces, not claustrophobia, places so tiny you can't move and get stuck. | 2010-08-02 22:27:00 Author: gdn001 Posts: 5891 |

@Morgana - death tubes! So I take it you stay away from aquariums? or if you do, you keep far away from the shark exhibits? I would just hate for you to miss out on sea otters and huge tanks full of glowing jellyfish. I've always wanted to go scuba diving/snorkelling in some coral reefs. What about friendly sharks that don't attack people like reef sharks or hammerheads or whale sharks? What about sharp-toothed demons like orcha whales? Is it the monstrous look of sharks that freaks you out? Because they really are monsters. Great whites and goblin sharks with their hideous rows of sharp teeth and wretched gums are truly beastly. Seriously, if you have a phobia of sharks and you've never seen a Goblin Shark, just google it and get it out of your system. For anyone who DOESN'T have a phobia of sharks, why not develop (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Mitsu.JPG) one (http://media.photobucket.com/image/goblin%20shark/Amaterasudesu/goblin-shark.jpg) now (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=00AUOO7BgBU)? I don't have many irrational fears that immediately come to mind. My biggest fear is looking in the mirror and suddenly realizing I'm old and my youth is forever gone. The Pink Floyd song "Time", one of my all-time favorite songs, pretty much nails my biggest fear on the head. "Tired of lying in the sunshine, staying home to watch the rain And you are young and life is long, and there is time to kill today And then one day you find: Ten years have got behind you. No one told you when to run. You missed the starting gun" | 2010-08-03 03:53:00 Author: Teebonesy Posts: 1937 |

Thought I'd add to my previous mini list with one I forgot. My main fear is becoming paralysed but still able to view the world, a prisoner inside my own body. This has been made a growing fear due to the multiple brain, spine surgeries I have had, paralysis is always a risk. A few weeks ago I had a pretty bad fall which involved me falling into a high washing basket and bouncing out and falling with all my weight onto my head. If it weren't for a small titanium rod at the base of my neck joining to the top of my spine, I probably would have broken my neck, however after the fall, when I was on the floor, my entire body went numb and I could not move my extremities, only my head remained active, voice etc. Luckily after a few minutes of this the feeling began to reassert itself. It was a terrifying experience. | 2010-08-03 08:52:00 Author: Boomy Posts: 3701 |

Giant stream of underscores? That is pretty terrifying I must admit! The Gentleman: Yeah, that can be unnerving at times, but I wouldn't really call it a phobia for myself... It's more along the lines of "it would really suck if this fell on me" than "GAH! I have to get out of here!". On a semi related note, I don't like looking up tall buildings when I'm already halfway up them. I always feel like I'm going to fall. | 2010-08-05 22:05:00 Author: microchirp Posts: 412 |

Yeh sleep paralysis is a fairly common occurrence, never had it but I heard its terrifying if in a nightmare scenario. I was under the impression that sleep paralysis is when you are unable to move after waking up. I could be misinformed, though. | 2010-08-11 11:00:00 Author: microchirp Posts: 412 |
Recently the idea of ghosts have been on my mind quite a lot, and once I get something into my head it's incredibly hard for me to let it go. One thing you should know about me is that when I think about something scary my imagination runs wild with it, for the past month or two I've been in my room at night trying to get to sleep when I start imagining there is something in the room with me. One particular thing that creeps me out is that when I turn my bedroom light off my dressing gown/robe or whatever's silhouette is similar to that of a small girls, and that seriously creeps me out. Then I get too scared to get up and take it down . The good news is that I think my mind is starting to let this whole thing go and I expect I'll have forgotten it all in a few weeks. My brain is like that. | 2010-08-12 23:39:00 Author: olit123 Posts: 1341 |

Well, in random moments in my dreams when Im there, I suddenly cant move or move very slowly for like a minute. lol I dont know what my fears are LOL | 2010-08-24 20:24:00 Author: HollieCat Posts: 197 |
Most of my fears are brought on by thinking to much. For example I started freaking out as I was going to sleep (which of course woke me up- it is a very annoying fear and I can't wait to be rid of it) because my mind wasn't working how it is normally does and was shutting down for the night. Ridiculous I know, as this happens every time you go to sleep, but it was surprisingly frightening when you notice it. Another time I got my self hyperventilating as I started thinking about how you breath, and of course you can't stop thinking about it once you start, and as you think as soon as you forget you feel you might stop breathing (I was quite young when this happened, so not so much the biology expert). The worst is when I realised how unconnected I felt in life (if you get what I mean), this was strange, although I think it is the same with everyone when you doing normal day-to-day things. But I found out why this was when I tried to pound into my head the realisation that I was HERE, NOW and ALIVE. When I did start to 'realise' this it coursed a total freak-out-overload in my head, which was terrifying. I found doing normal tasks takes your mind of it, but it has been my biggest 'fear' ever since. So I guess our kind of sub-consicousness is there for a reason, as your mind can't handle the whole, 'realness' of stuff. Whew, even if you didn't understand a word of that, it feels good telling people about it. On a more normal note, I am also afraid of choking | 2010-08-27 14:07:00 Author: PygmyOwl Posts: 1316 |
