Foto Frame FrenzyJarheadgunner514 http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=20865Jump to safety across dangerously unstable photo frames. (reverse logic, I know) I would have to say this is my best level so far! You jump across photo frames to escape the house, but is it the end? I may make a Pro Version to follow this up! Pictures! http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=20866 http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=20864 http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=20863 http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=20862 | 2010-08-01 22:41:00 Author: Emogotsaone Posts: 1030 |
Just checked out your level. I got stuck at the frame that has the ship with the blue background. How do you get across there? Not sure if I'm missing something. I'd like to check it out again if I can pass that part. I would also make the game entrance checkpoint track the player so that you do not have to repeat what you already did. Either 1 tracking checkpoint, or multiple checkpoints. It would also be neat to make the pictures more interactive. Like, what if some of the photos were portraits and had eyes that follow the player? Or what if something about the scene changes when the player lands on it? Just some ideas to liven it up a bit. | 2010-08-03 03:11:00 Author: pennydog Posts: 74 |

Great ideas, and for the blue ship (trust me) jump! You'll make it ill update it by tommorow night! | 2010-08-03 03:22:00 Author: Emogotsaone Posts: 1030 |
Overall a nice challenging level. Pros: nice platforming Nice aesthetics Cool Idea for a level series? Cons: some of the jumps were frustrating -chiefly the one shot one The swinging frame is finicky NEEDS ANOTHER CHECKPOINT! | 2010-08-04 22:12:00 Author: Unknown User |
Okay I'll try and update it. | 2010-08-04 22:52:00 Author: Emogotsaone Posts: 1030 |
Thanks for the F4F dude! played your level six times and really liked the concept but unfortunately I didn't manage to finish. Maybe my short comings as a player but on checking the completions I saw that only 1 in 18 had completed. The area I kept coming unstuc on was the fotoframe with the two strings that detach, couldn't time the jump to the next frame properly. the concept is novel and with a few adjustments could improve its ratings, I feel the two star rating it had when I was on was very unfair because obviously thought and care had gone into making it. Some suggestions: The level seems very flat physically and atmospherically, some more proximity triggered spot light and sound effects would help as would the addition of some animation/characters. Having frames located in all 3 planes would help add to the interest. Although a race it didn't seem to suggest a frenzy, maybe adding a path of bubbles glued to the frames would help make it seem more dynamic, you could even clolour code them to help the player judge when to make their jumps. Consider the foreground where you could place decorated frames to add to the detail of the level. Will happily try your level again, just message me if you need any testing. | 2010-08-05 17:13:00 Author: EnochRoot Posts: 533 |
This one sounds great! Unfortunately, my second controller died and I promised my son he could play, so it may be a bit before I check it out, but this one's definitely on my list. | 2010-08-05 18:34:00 Author: SpeedyMcKnuckles Posts: 331 |

But too bad I just updated it... I added a check point that follows you but i'm having a hard time with it. And all the pictures used are from LBPC creators such as Luos Destruc, Warlord_Evil, Comphermc, etc. I'm not sure how the game will respond with 2 players, salaciousCrumbcake. But give it a try | 2010-08-05 18:50:00 Author: Emogotsaone Posts: 1030 |
Can't play 2p. Controller's broke. I did try it out by myself when my boy was done and that follow checkpoint was working against me. Kept dropping me to my death. It did it after I fell off the swinging frame... I fell into the gap and the checkpoint kept dropping me back into it with the frame on the backswing. It did it again on my second attempt after I fell into the gap having missed the infamous jump from the blue ship painting. | 2010-08-05 20:50:00 Author: SpeedyMcKnuckles Posts: 331 |

UPDATED! Got rid of following Checkpoint Got stationary Checkpoints Added more darkness Added flood lights Doubled Flood lights. | 2010-08-06 19:03:00 Author: Emogotsaone Posts: 1030 |
Okay, it was a nice level and I took some time to look around at the photos Pros: good run, jump platforming, a very littlebigplanet level at heart. not too hard platforming (is that good or bad?) Cons: the big swinging frame, I didn't know what do do there, so I quit, I tryed jumping but I died so... over all a nice level, a little plain but you don't notice that if your doing death defying jumps over dangerously hung photo frames 4 :star:'s | 2010-08-07 09:26:00 Author: huntedstorm Posts: 488 |
What swinging photo is everyone talking about? | 2010-08-07 16:43:00 Author: Emogotsaone Posts: 1030 |
I'd have to play the level again to describe it accurately, which I hope to do later since I'm going to make some time to play the game... (been real busy the last few days) But I do know which part he's talking about, since it killed me too. | 2010-08-07 16:45:00 Author: SpeedyMcKnuckles Posts: 331 |
Just describe the Photo | 2010-08-07 16:55:00 Author: Emogotsaone Posts: 1030 |
I can't tell what the pic's supposed to be. It's the one with the grab switch. It lights up and the rest of the level gets dark. It doesn't seem to get high enough to jump to anything and the level is getting too dark to really see anyway. I'm still stuck there. I do like the new checkpoints better, though. | 2010-08-07 18:10:00 Author: SpeedyMcKnuckles Posts: 331 |
Oh, oh... um... yeah. Sorry for that, it's a blind jump up to a metal platform. | 2010-08-07 19:00:00 Author: Emogotsaone Posts: 1030 |
The one shot swinging frame that you have to time perfectly or you're screwed. | 2010-08-08 01:28:00 Author: Unknown User |
Yes, and by the looks of it. Most of you got screwed, how do i fix it? | 2010-08-08 19:28:00 Author: Emogotsaone Posts: 1030 |
I'd rework it. Find a new mechanism that you like that won't screw your players. You've got to keep in mind when making levels: Just because something seems very doable when you're testing it doesn't mean it is. This is your baby. You know all it's ticks and tocks, nooks and crannies, and everything you can and can't do in it. Just because you know that you need to go left here and jump to that thing, doesn't mean that that's what every player will do. Most won't. A lot like to jump around, explore everywhere and touch everything... So try not to get them trapped or killed while they're exploring or they're not likely to finish... Much less come back. Every player has a different style. If you want a high completion rate, you have to prepare for contingencies. | 2010-08-08 23:18:00 Author: SpeedyMcKnuckles Posts: 331 |
Well said, I'll work a way around it. | 2010-08-08 23:29:00 Author: Emogotsaone Posts: 1030 |
Lots of updates today! Fixed lighting Fixed swing Fixed Stickering | 2010-08-15 02:21:00 Author: Emogotsaone Posts: 1030 |
I'll be checking it out soonish! | 2010-08-16 03:41:00 Author: SpeedyMcKnuckles Posts: 331 |
21 hours later. Nothing. | 2010-08-17 00:45:00 Author: Emogotsaone Posts: 1030 |
Yeah, sorry. I was about to search you earlier and got distracted by a shiny thing. Anyway, it plays much better! That jump isn't blind anymore... That helps a lot. I was able to see the grab ball hanging before the next picture as I flew past it to my Sacky's demise. The hanging painting is still pretty inaccessible once it's been set off, so I had to restart, but I gotta say I didn't mind. Some might, but I didn't, because... I love the picture frames concept altogether, and some of the devices you're using to move them are really fun and interesting! The one toward the beginning I remember from playing it before, and I love how you have it falling right into place. The level is full of fun ways to get Sacky from frame to frame as he attempts to escape before everything turns dark. Much fun! Not enough people use the Little part of LittleBigPlanet, and this is a great example of how making Sacky feel tiny makes the game feel big. Thanks for the nudge. I'm glad I played. :star::star::star::star: and a <3! | 2010-08-17 01:14:00 Author: SpeedyMcKnuckles Posts: 331 |
Yay! Thank you for that, i know it not perfect but I like it. | 2010-08-18 13:13:00 Author: Emogotsaone Posts: 1030 |
