Use your PSEye as a Webcam for your PC

Archive: 14 posts

It has SUPERB quality, can capture 60fps, as well as use its built-in mic. It works like a charm. The process is REALLY simple. Here is the full post with details:
http://alexpopovich.wordpress.com/2008/10/02/sony-ps3eye-camera-directshow-capture-source-filter/

The installer (also found in his post, down at the bottom) can be found for easier access here:
http://www.codelaboratories.com/files/PS3EyeSetup.1.0b81008.exe

You just install that, restart your PC, plug it in and voila!
Enjoy!

NOTE: I looked around and found nothing on this breaking the PSEye's Terms of Use, or any other sort of rule. If you find anything regarding that, please let me or any other mod know, we'll take the thread and links down. I just thought we could get the best out of our PSEye this way. :]

I have yet to try it on Skype.

EDIT: Just tried it. Works perfectly. Well, it did show on the video settings at least, as a preview.

about time someone made the driver for this,

and no its not in any violation of anything. Just like how you can use the Sixaxis with a computer.

Thanks, then, Reshin! I'll keep the note up, just in case. You never know.

can it work for a mac?

I read somewhere it should work with most 32-bit Operating Systems, but I don't know for certain if it works on Macs.

Why do you want an EyeToy? PlayStation Eye is much better.

Why does everybody want an EyeToy? I didn't even know that it was compatible with the PS3. Is it? Anyways, we should all move onto the PS Eye, along with the rest of the new generation.

Okay. I don't understand what you mean exactly. You can use it for both. What is it about using it on your computer that won't let you use it for your PS3?

finally got the time to try this today, capture works, but the mic doesn't

strange, anyone got the mic to work?? I'll just dismiss this to my list of Vista's "protection features"
