Bug Survival (1P)LBP333

http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=20903

Defend your hill from never ending waves of other ants.
This level is top down and uses a nice chunk of logic to power it. I made this level to practice building top down levels ( it's actually pretty fun to create this way ) in anticipation for LBP2. I hope you enjoy it! Remember to leave feedback, it's always helpful.

Note: I've been busy lately so I may only get to about 15 other people on feedback.

Nice level. Couldn't even begin to understand the tech involved but everything worked bug free (no pun intended). Played it a couple of times and steadily improved my score. I was lucky enough to get some hands on time on LBP2 at the beta rooms and if you can do this on LBP then I'll love to see what you come up with using the specific toolset.
Only suggestions i would like to make is to make the black ants a little more ant like by giving them legs, and maybe a bit more decoration using leaves etc. to give the level a more organic look. Great job. When you have some time check out my ORPHAN level thread.

Gonna check out your level in a second. Thanks, I can't wait for LBP2 it'll make building something like this so easy!2010-08-02 00:19:00

Very nice level! Good idea having the enemy ants be plasma balls, I woulda never thought of that. You did a good job of making the ant hill, it looks pretty good!
Suggestions:
-Add some decorations to make it look more like a dirty yard.
-Make the life bar visible, I couldn't tell how many lives I had left.
-Make the ant weigh less, I was kinda hard to maneuver.

Over all really cool idea! 5 stars and a heart! Can't wait to see what you make in LBP2!

Can you try my LittleBigSpace level? Link in sig.

Thanks sackracer77! But I can't do some of the things you are suggesting...

-I can add more decorations, but I can't add any more layers so it would have to be sticker decorations. I will do that though in V.1.3.
-A life bar would have to either be attached to the ant or somewhere on the field. If I attached it to the ant it won't move correctly, and if I put it somewhere on the field it would require you to get it into the camera shot which would just make the level harder.
-I went onto LBP Guide and I used the Lightest material, it's just that the shape of the ant makes it level out vertically ( sorry )

Thank you for your comment. I wish I could do what you suggest, but I am working within the limitations of LBP, so it won't be perfect. Thank you for the heart to, I appreciate it!

I played the level and I really liked the concept, it's reminiscent of LBP2s top down gameplay. However I have some nit-picks.
1. Visuals- The visuals weren't bad, but they did feel a bit bland. Maybe add some more decorations? Also the game-over sign seemed a bit sloppy.
2. Difficulty- It felt like there was a sudden jump in difficulty, rather than a gradual increment. It's not a big deal though, as the level was still fun.

Other than that it's a good and unique level. I gave it 4 stars.

I know they are like little missiles . And I might make a 2P versus version.

1. I am updating it with some decorations soon...
2.I tried to make it increase gradually, and it does, but it starts out REALLY fast to begin with. I wanted to change this the first time I play tested it, but there were so many outputs in the logic that if I interfered with it than the whole system would crash, so unfortunately that's a problem I can't fix.

I am glad you enjoyed it though, it's the reason I make levels!

Just played it then, seem pretty good.
it's a shame you couldn't put in gradually increased difficulty though.

As said, the only real other thing you need to do is add more detail.

Question: Those points at the end are related to how many ants you successfully block right?

Anyway, really fun idea. Clever to use plasma balls for the black ants. To be honest I'm not sure if I'd rate the detail level as a pro or a con, I'm sure it'd make it more pretty to look at it, but it kind of has this 8-bit come 3D feel to it.

Is the camera angle intentional? If you didn't intend on making the player only able to see 1/4 of the play area at a time, then maybe you should consider putting a camera zone so you can see most of it at a time. Just food for thought, might not make it better or worse.

Hearted because I like the idea.

Thanks for the comment. Yes they are based on how many bugs you collect. And I actually did put a camera zone and it's zoomed out as far as it goes, I think it's just the scale of the level that makes it seem like it has a standard camera angle. Thank you for the heart it means a lot!

The ant was a little hard to control. I also didn't like it's antennas. Why don't you just create your own?
I liked the popping out graphics, though. Reminded me of LBP 2.
I think you should add alot more detail to the level though, since i'm sure you have plenty of thermo left over.

Okay level. I gave it :star::star::star:.

Can you leave feedback on Farewell Ruins of the Moon: Chapter Two? (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=32039-Farewell-Ruins-of-the-Moon-Chapter-Two) Thanks.

I also suggest you play the first one in the series to understand the second level.

Thanks for your feedback AbstractSam

I apologies for the awkward controls, but if I wanted to get this thing to move horizontally and vertically than I had to use the jet pack. ( so again, it's pretty unpolished due to it being made in LBP1 ) And I couldn't create my own antennas because, well...you know how if you size a material to small than it disappears? Well that kept happening, and it looked terrible. Besides I think the alerted exclamation point antennas are more appropriate for the level since it's a defense game. I will carry those 3 stars with pride!

I'll definitely check out your levels, but I am currently away from my PS3 I will get to it as soon as I can though...

Haha! This was pretty cool! I liked it! I didn't really understand what I was doing, though, at first, so maybe a quick explanation, or mention that the black ants will attack and you have to block them with your red ant, or something.

I pretty easily got second, though... so maybe I figured it out better than others anyway.

Definitely a LBP2 level in the making!

I don't really have many qualms about this. Could be prettier, so :star::star::star::star:<3! Great work!

If you would kindly give feedback on my level: Commander Keen: Goodbye Galaxy - Part I (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=32124-Commander-Keen-Goodbye-Galaxy-Part-I)
