Sackboy Sand Sculpture

Archive: 30 posts

Whenever I go on holiday, I can't help digging a big hole in the beach and creating something!

This time, I thought I would spend a few hours creating our favourite character... Sackboy!!

I do have other photos but this will do for now if anyone is interested..

Brilliant work Rhy. Sackboy looks great, you even did his zip. Do you have a more front on photo?2010-07-31 23:26:00

A perfect front-on image was tricky because of the size of it, but here's some more....

Yes, sadly, that's me...

No silly hat jokes please!

And another of me trying to create Helm's Deep (Lord of the Rings), which sadly came to a watery end...

Ha!! Awesome!

I guess to get a full on view you'd need a balloon and a rope! Great stuff.. looks like you had a great time!

We should have taken jump_button with us! lol

I would like to point out that Rhy did in fact recreate Helms deep in a spectacular fashion but it was so small that in the short time it took to pick up the camera the wind had blown a couple of grains of sand over it and it disappeared! It was too funny!

Wow, that's so cool. I'm so glad you put the additional pictures up because seeing you next to Sackboy gives a much better idea of the scale of him (as well as it being nice to see what you look like, too, lol!). He's just perfect in every detail.

Thanks for sharing.

I was very unsure about showing my ugly mug on here, but hey ho... there I is!

That's incredible, how long did it take? :o

I'm told it took about 6 hours to do from scratch, and judging from the sunburn on the back of my neck, it can't have been far off. He was about 6' high (long) and I must have shovelled about 1/2 ton of sand.... my back still aches!
