How to make a Creator Entrance

Notice: I did not create this tutorial all the credit goes to Mnniska A creator entrance is a normal checkpoint. The special thing about it though is that you will spawn from it when you enter CREATE MODE, and NOT spawn from it in play-mode. And how is this useful ,you might ask? Well, imagine you're creating a big epic level. In the very start you have a EPIC cutscene followed by some real great solid platforming that reaches to the other side of the level. Now you might have showed your dear level to a friend and decides to enter create mode. BUT WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU ENTER? The cutscene instantly activates and you'll be forced to rewind. Then once you're done with that you'll have to travel ALLLLL the way to the right to where you're creating right now! These might be small issues compared to other way more evil stuff in create mode, but once you got your creator entrance up and running you'll be burying me in thanks for the saved time, trust me! Kay, so how do I set it up? This is Really simple and once you know the way you'll be able to set one up in no time at all. Here goes! STEP ONE. So, here is our little level where we want to install a entrance. http://www.littlebigland.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/07/APhoto_8.jpg The first thing we do is to delete ALL of the checkpoints. http://www.littlebigland.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/07/APhoto_7.jpg BAM! Gone! STEP TWO. The next step is to place a ordinary every-day checkpoint anywhere in the level. This will serve as our Creator entrance! http://www.littlebigland.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/07/APhoto_6.jpg STEP THREE. Now all you have to do is to ENTER PLAYMODE and then GO BACK TO CREATE. http://www.littlebigland.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/07/APhoto_5.jpg Look at me! I'm in play-mode! STEP FOUR. Done! Feel free to replace all of the checkpoints again, you will now enter through the checkpoint you placed in the air when you spawn in create mode, and through the normal entrance checkpoint when spawning in play mode! http://www.littlebigland.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/07/APhoto_4.jpg STEP FIVE. STEP FIVE. Well technically you're all good to go now, but what's the point of having a creator entrance when you don't even know it's a creator entrance? Time to decorate your entrance! Be creative with your entrances! You will be spending ALOT of time in your level, then why not make it a bit cosy? Check this Cardboard-style entrance out! http://www.littlebigland.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/07/APhoto_3.jpg If you have a level that's played in the nature, why not ahve a nature-themed entrance? Pretty stylish don'tsha think? http://www.littlebigland.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/07/APhoto.jpg If you're feeling like boosting yourself you can always have a hot girl welcome you! If you add a LAND sign you can also tell newcomers some rules of the level by using speechbubbles. Like asking them not to land or say the word "basketbollsbajs". RIGHTY! That's all really, here's a short list on how to install one: 1. Delete all checkys 2. Place normal checky. 3. Enter play, go back to create. 4. Done! Thanks for the tip but there's one problem, a major one at that, with STEP1 i.e. You say to delete ALL checkpoints but the game won't let you do that. There always has to be at least 1 checkpoint in the level. It won't let you delete the original entrance unless you put another checkpoint in first. @ MrV and rtm . Also if you have only 1 checkpoint left. Make a copy directly in front of it and then get the drag select over both the checkpoints and delete ! I didn't really express myself clearly there. You can still have the creator entrance out and open when you're deleting checkys. I made something a bit similar. I got a circle of dark matter and attached it to an infinite life check point. Then i put a magnetic key switch on the checkpoint with a matching key next to it. Finally i wired up the switch to the checkpoint. After that i realized that you could just use a grab switch set to reverse. It is good because you can place it anywhere so you can start testing at any point in your level. Alternatively, rather than deleting all the other entrances, you could place an inverted magnetic key switch on your entrance and connect it to the door. (set to on/off). This will activate the entrance before you join and you will enter through it. Capture the whole entrance (with whatever 'creator' decor you made) and you can keep it in your popit) The advantage of this is 1. you dont have to delete all the other entrances - this can be placed at any time 2. you can delete the creator entrance, replace later - and it will still work 3. Because you can delete it, you can move this entrance inside sealed areas of your level. I think you have misunderstood the creator entrance concept a bit. If you simply activate a checkpoint with a inverted grab switch, it wont work at all. First of all, you will spawn out of the creator entrance when you enter into PLAY MODE, something that should be avoided. Secondly, once you enter create mode you will pop out of the NORMAL checkpoint rather than the your creator entrance! I mean that's the opposite from what this tutorial is trying to achive! Though, this method is very handy for testing your level from the middle rather all the way back at the start. BY THE WAY. I just noticed something! If you have a ACTIVATED creator entrance. (..which is simply another word for a working creator entrance) and CAPTURE it, you will have a activated creator entrance in your popit! This way you can simply take it out and place it in order to create a functional creatoer entrance, no need for deletion of checkpoints and such!
