Archive: 23 posts

Oh my god i know we were talking about drinks but WOW my missus just cooked me Enchiladas (i haven't had them for ages) and i forgot how much i love them
http://i176.photobucket.com/albums/w197/dorien360/enchiladas-su-1182881-l.jpg

As i've said before i'm a big lad that likes his food and it is one of the most important things in my life. When on holiday i like nothing better that sampling the local food and trying as much as i can and i'm always fascinated by the differences in food from place to place. As we are such a varied community from so many different places on this LittleBigPlanet i thought i'd ask

What's you favourite food. And if you have a popular dish in your local area, please tell us what it is mmmmm
Now for pudding lol

As for me i love cereal soooo much and eat loads of it - mainly coco pops, honey-nut cornflakes, Clusters and Wheetabix

as for dinner i mainly tend to have mix grills mmmmm lol I'm also a fish nutcase but there is not many things i don't like lol

Pudding for me is Treacle sponge witch i'm gonna have in a mo

My local dish in Bermondsey and the south-east london (and the Eastend) is Pie and mash with liquor (which is basically a parsley sauce)<<< this makes it what it is mmmmmmm I'm a 4 pie 2 mash man myself (but have been known to have 5pie 3mash or 6pie 2mash lol)

God bless you Dorien.

I'm a big lad too, and I loves my food

Favourites :

Lasagne
Piella
Curry
Those pizzas that get rolled up and you eat it like a giant pizza sausage roll
Chicken
Steak
Ham
CHICKEN TONIGHT
Crispy chilli beef

Hate :

Sweet and sour.

I'm a fish maniac, and practically full carnivore.. I eats my veg, but I love meat. I reaally, really, really love meat. Any sort. I'm a bit of an animal when I eat too...

Anyone been to one of those restaurants on holiday where they grow their own food (e.g. they have a trout farm), and then you eat the trout..

All they do is stick it on a grill and gut it, and you have the whole fish to yourself. I even ate the head, not joking either. LOL.

ALSO : When I was 11, I went to Turkey with my freind. Had an awesome massive steak meal, biggest meal they served. 18lb steak, with 3 jacket potatoes, rice, and ice cream (with chips etc of course).. Finished everything.

The manager was so impressed he even came down to shake my hand, and took my photo xD Apparently it was there when my freind went back the next year.

Joe's Ice Cream

I can safely say it is the nicest ice cream you will ever taste.

Will you guys stop creaming on the page and listen to CREATIVE

But I don't have a local dish. Maybe i'll go for the lincolnshire sausage.

I like loads food but havent tried much exotic food and won't TOUCH fish or anything seafood.

EDIT: I gots a massive sweet tooth (Not in the literal sense) but I love puddings. Don't get em much though, unfortunatly.

Some point in my life i'm going to travel the world, seeing not primarily the big cities, but the smaller cultures. Places not built for tourists. The way you described food is the way I feel about people, they fascinate me, and I'd love to sample all the different cultures

Whilst i'm there, obviously, i'll try the local food.

Guess that's your way of saying i should of searched first then ayelol
Whhoopppsss lol
Anyway this is slightly different as i mainly wanted to find out about what foods everyone has locally to them rather than just your favourite as it's interesting to me. But no one seems to be contributing to this anyway and it's just me and Miff rambling together (new there then lol)

Anyway i'm happy to let this die if no one is interested in listing they're local famous dishes if it isn't different enough to the other thread

Sorry mods but also i am doulbe posting as well so guess that was the least of my worries lol:hero:

Yay for Malt

My favorite dish is definitely spaghetti bolognese. I pour tons of melted cheese and curry into it. Makes my mouth water just to think about it.

The local food I like the most is Francesinha (translated: "Little French") It was invented in Porto (Oporto, it's 60km from where I live) in the begin of the 20th century and it quickly spread to the rest of the Portugal. The northern francesinhas are still the best though. It was invented when a Portuguese guy that had traveled to France thought of adapting "Croque-monsieur" to the Portuguese taste. It's basically a really big square sandwich filled with all sorts of meat. They vary depending on the restaurant/bar, but the most used are ham, sausages, steak and bacon. It's then covered with cheese and a big portion of salty-spicy thick hot sauce made of tomato juice, beer, onions, garlic and peppers.

Looks like this:

http://www.gastronomias.com/receitas/image_receitas/rec2018.jpg

Although it's best served with a fried egg, fries, and a lot of the sauce to drench the fries in.

Not something I could eat regularly though. I only eat francesinhas when I'm dining out with friends or family and as hungry as a wolf.

I really enjoy Tuna mayonaisse sandwiches. Om nom nom

And also, as a breakfast meal, I like Sausage and fried egg sandwich with mayonaisse too, it so yummy.

I also love lasagne, especially the kind that a friend makes (Apparently, he uses chilli sauce from our nearest pizza shop as the secret ingredient. Not so secret now, eh?)
And also Onion bahji, although I hate every other indian food.

Well, being a vegan, I can't have a lot of stuff that tastes amazing, haha. But thankfully I do love fruit and veggies. I can find vegan versions of a lot of non-vegan food, but they don't always taste quite the same. As for popular food around here, I'm not really sure.2011-09-02 17:28:00

Oh, the many, many foods a fatty like me can indulge on...

Some of my favorites are:
Chili-Cheese Dogs
Bacon Cheeseburgers
French Fries
Beef/Pork Ribs
Phở (Vietnamese soup)
P?t? (grounded-up duck liver w/ spices)
Carnitas
Belgian Waffles
Spam Musubi (Hawaiian-style sushi)
Ube (Filipino purple yam ice cream)
Smoked meats
Anything with chocolate (sad but true)

As for local food... San Diego is primarily a Mexican-influenced food culture, so obvious staples are tacos and burritos. And, since San Diego also prides in its local fishing, there are many seafood places as well. So, put the two together and you get:
Fish Tacos (Tacos de pescado)
http://www.johnevons.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/11/4640791200_2b403585d9_o.jpg

Fried fish wrapped in a corn tortilla, then usually topped with pico de gallo, cabbage and a sour cream/ citrus-mayonnaise sauce. It's impossible to say that you've tried the local cuisine around here unless you've had one. Either that, or:

California Burrito
http://www.thirdavenuevillage.com/system/files/categories/dine/mexican/don_pedro_taco_shop_california_burrito.jpg

This was INVENTED in San Diego, and you can only find them here (the good ones, at least). A carne asada burrito packed with cheese, french fries, and any combination of guacamole, pico de gallo and sour cream. Everyone around here has had one and, if you ever find yourself in San Diego, you should have one too.

Oh geez, I'm getting all hungry by just typing up all of this stuff.
