LBPCentral Logo Competition

Well seen as we have an idea to put a LBPCentral logo to our levels, but we seem to lack that, i thought it would be a good idea to make a competition out of seeing who can make the best logo.

After a certain amount of time (undetermined as of yet) i'll add a poll to this (it's possible right?) and we'll get voting!
anywho.... start paint/photoshopping/whatever people!

The logo should include the website. As obvious as it may seem, a lot of people won't think to abbreviate to lbpcentral instead of typing out littlebigplanetcentral.com

I used levenim MT font...
Gill Sans MT is good... along with Comic Sans MS

lol don't worry, i quite like seeing everyones input, so far pretty cool. to create something really good though takes alot of practice with the tools anyway, not too many people are that efficient with photoshop. my speciality is paint

Oh i know, i only did it to get it started really, as i just took the logo from the front page. I won't be doing any other purely cause i lack the skills on that front. haha okay kmills, your best bet is to give it a soft kinda look. try going for not just a plain square - something quirky would work well. and take your time - theres ages yet and no doubt the competition may get up to a high standard.
Oh - and you'll be suprised how deep photoshop is. it would take you a LONG time to learn to use it at its best. i never got the jist of it.		2008-07-30 00:52:00

I like it, but it is a bit too long. Our best bet is a logo that is near an even ratio(close to 1:1 for length to height). If you can find a way to move it around then it might look better.		2008-07-30 03:20:00

I'll try and incorporate a patch into mine. I'm not exactly sure how. But I did use a filter to make it look like a type of material in LBP.

Also...If it helps...we dont need to spell out "LittleBigPlanet"

If they don't know what LBP stands for then they should burn their copy of the game...

If you use LBPCentral...then you have alot more canvas to spiffy up your logo design...

Please correct me if I'm wrong Gods of said site...

Avoid known shapes like circles and squares, form the shape around the design...makes it look like a real sticker...

I like a few of the other entries a lot, but I feel like it'd be better if the picture wouldn't cut off suddenly. It's not going to look good when put in a level.

Therefore LittleBigFan's logo is the best, tho V3-V5 all have the same cut off problem. Then again I guess you could put frames around it, but still, I prefer something with better defined edges, if you catch my drift. Consider making a sign post in the game, where you'd put the LBPC sticker hanging, kind of like a western shop sign. Or really even numerous other places, a logo with square frames around it just doesn't work as well.		2008-07-31 10:00:00

I like this one the best, although I would place central lower so it doesn't interfere as much. Only touch the bottomside of "planet", on top it only touches the top of the B, so on the bottom it should be on the height of only touching the bottom of the p.		2008-07-31 10:41:00

For the second one, I was showing what it would look like if we used it as a sticker for a level that the board collaborated on. Or, we still could use it the first one for that, I guess. I'll work on your suggestions.

Yeah, I think pretty much every video game fan site seems to break copyright laws by using game material right in with their templates. I think it should be ok to use something like that.

I don't really know what to do for something original. Usually logos embody the feel of the actual site, such as the color scheme, text, ect. Since we really don't have an overall theme as of yet, I don't really have anything to base the logo off of. I like version 4, with version one's text, if you could extend the sketchy thing so you can see it fully, then stroke the whole image a few pixels white so it looks like a real sticker, and keep the background transparent (dont like square or cut-offs)

other than that, they are all really good Eveybody's is good, its hard to choose a favourate. One last thing though.. that render you used is massively overused I see it too much.. kinda affects the originality factor		2008-08-01 21:04:00

We could use that as our trademark, so to speak, and just place it at the end of our levels. Well, if this was going to be used for collaborations only, then it would be easy to implement. We'd just place the sign at the beginning of the level to alleviate that worry. We could make it relatively small so it wouldn't take up much room.		2008-08-02 00:41:00

I don't think we should make a thread about it though, guys. We'll wait until it releases and do it then. Yeah i prefer just the sticker idea... as i don't know if i'd wanna hang a sign or something in a level with a certain theme which would clash with the object.

I have an idea we could do for the logo (making it in-game)

We could put the logo letters on a giant cog that would spin slowly, so if the level was approved by the site/forum, it could say "LittleBigPlanet Central Approved"

So, if we wanted to approve someone's level, we just put that object at the end of their level.

Yeah, theres stickers for winners of the monthly contests, and stickers for every member of the forums to put in their level if they choose too.

That way, good people can feel rewarded, and the rest don't feel sucky if they're level isnt approved to have a sticker.		2008-08-04 18:43:00

Oh, I'm not trying to undercut everyone's efforts, but I think we need a logo that is consistent. We could do variations on it, of course(for contest winners, ect) and we could still hold a competition for those variations. Well seen as we have an idea to put a LBPCentral logo to our levels, but we seem to lack that, i thought it would be a good idea to make a competition out of seeing who can make the best logo.

After a certain amount of time (undetermined as of yet) i'll add a poll to this (it's possible right?) and we'll get voting!

That's what I'm thinking should be the official logo. Also, maybe we could sell the other logos via the vbExperience store if lbp decides to implement it(check the "Rankings" thread in "Forum Updates"). no problem. we've got a problem anyway as bbromans latest attempt now gives us an errored image. i'll PM him to see if he can reupload it - then when you've got yours sorted as well that will mean we have 10 entries.

EDIT: i've got a problem with putting in a poll. i thought this was possible but the option is not there. is it possible for you to do this cartman? if so i'll shoot you a PM with how i've changed the first post (code and everything is there too) when i want you to do it. if you can't though... i'll just have to create a new thread with a poll. or would it be tidier to do that anyway? your shout.
I would rather make a new thread altogether. Just PM me the entries and I'll whip up a thread.
