Sand Castle Chronicles (LBW7)littlebigdude805 An epic tale of a heroic sack who saved a sand castle from a seemingly unstoppable force. Take on the roll of a hero and climb your way to the top of a magnificent sand castle to vanquish the beast. Hey LBPC heres my LBW7 entry, at first it wasn't meant for LBW7 but the leveled evolved as new ideas came and it's nothing like what i originally wanted and I am glad, it turned out great and is still fun after 50 plays What I was aiming for throughout the creation of this level was "fun" ive noticed a lot of LBW7 entries where identical and lacking in fun, so i decided to stray from the path most traveled by some screenies for you visual people http://i867.photobucket.com/albums/ab236/littlebigbucket/APhoto-3.jpg http://i867.photobucket.com/albums/ab236/littlebigbucket/APhoto_1-2.jpg http://i867.photobucket.com/albums/ab236/littlebigbucket/APhoto_2.jpg http://i867.photobucket.com/albums/ab236/littlebigbucket/APhoto_3.jpg http://i867.photobucket.com/albums/ab236/littlebigbucket/APhoto_4.jpg a little peek at the boss http://i867.photobucket.com/albums/ab236/littlebigbucket/APhoto_5.jpg Thanks to Chuck_18mp for advise on colors and visuals Thanks to IStwisted for advanced visual touch ups Thanks for playing leave your F4F selection and ill get to it ASAP | 2010-07-29 20:51:00 Author: Littlebigdude805 Posts: 1924 |

This looks awesome. I've played some of your levels and they are awesome, one of them was your hungry hoppers survival challenge which was very unique but anyway, I'll try this level the next time I get on LBP. | 2010-07-29 22:07:00 Author: Dragonvarsity Posts: 5208 |
thanks, its only got like 6 plays right now but apparently people really like it, at first look it was 3 plays 3 hearts hope to see some reviews soon | 2010-07-29 22:53:00 Author: Littlebigdude805 Posts: 1924 |
I was one of those first three people(: This level rocks! I love the game play and scenery! I have a feeling that this will get in the community spotlight . Awesome job man! I gave it 5 stars and a heart. | 2010-07-29 23:38:00 Author: austimerr Posts: 385 |
I played the level and here's what I thought. Positives ------------ 1. Great scenery. 2. Awesome characters like the crab and I loved the army clams. 3. Plenty of platforming. 4. I loved the beginning with the awesome logos (especially with the title, well done) and the water flowing for a new thing to say. Negatives 5. Not amazing gameplay for boss but still some fun and the design on the boss was awesome as well. Negatives -------------- 1. Sometimes the clams were kinda tricky and could be a bit frustrating. 2. When you first go on the orange circles that spin around and you have to get to the top, I think the first and second are good but for the third one it might be a bit trickier and takes longer to get p there sometimes. 3. Not much of a story developed in the level, just the description. Before playing it, based on the description I thought I would start on an island, not in a castle and no ending really. Overall, I gave it :star::star::star::star:. Great job! Could you give some feedback on my level Platformia? The link to the thread's located in my sig. | 2010-07-30 00:17:00 Author: Dragonvarsity Posts: 5208 |

The link to the thread's located in my sig. hey thanks for the review, yea i had concerns about that third circle, ill fix it soon, the clams i can't do much about, its just the nature of the flipper as for story i tried to keep it simple like Mm levels, you know the template "oh hey your here, look you gotta help out theres a situation at the other end of the level " lol i put more energy into fun mechanics and characters, as for the boss i was originally going to have to stages (next being after you break his bucket helmet ) but i was short on thermo, time, and patients, so i cut it a tad short so i could finish up in time and have rooms for tweaks and stuff anyway thanks for the review and ill go play your level now. | 2010-07-30 00:57:00 Author: Littlebigdude805 Posts: 1924 |
Just played it, good level!! The titles with water was cool, and i enjoyed the dialogue with the army at the end, made me chuckle. My only criticism is about the clams, they were frustrating as it seems you have to hit them at exactly the right spot to get the optimum spring. If you mess this up, you have to wait 5-6 seconds for it to reset, if this happens often (it did with me) it ruins the nice flow of the level you have got going on, which is a shame. Thats my only negative thing about it, I gave it :star::star::star::star: as it is a great level!! | 2010-07-30 02:00:00 Author: Unknown User |
Very good and enjoyable level. -Loved your characters: the hermit-crab, the sneezing clams (later with helmets ), even that shrieking starfish-guide. -Visuals are very nice, the washed up debris littered around the sandcastle. Good opening sequence. Nice animated boss-fight. -Good gameplay, not too easy & not too frustrating. I like the rotating sponges and the glass tunnels. Good pinball-puzzle too. Ingenious how the sponges on the pencils realign after pulling the switch. -Nice prize. And ik like hunting for secrets (4 out of 6 bottlecaps, so I'll return later.) -Only part that I found mildly frustrating was the boss-fight. In my opinion there's not enough room to manoeuvre (especially when dodging those falling sandballs), this in combination with the one-shot paintguns (I hate those with a veneance ), makes the bossbattle just a touch less enjoyable then the rest of the level. I gave 5 stars and hearted. This is a great looking and very enjoyable level. Good luck on LBW7! If you're up for F4F, please try one of my latest levels (5, 6B or 7B). Thanks. | 2010-07-30 11:07:00 Author: pickled-punk Posts: 598 |
I loved the boss fight. even though it has an obvious pattern it's still a challenge. I was cursing you the whole time. I can see why you only gave them one shot and I think it's genius. my only criticism is I don't like arbitrary gassing. you could easily add a cut scene at the king, demit the opening sequence, and drop the player in . then emit the scoreboard area around the player at the end. I understand you were pressed for time and it's not REALLY that big of a deal. I just try not to kill the player unless they screw up. :star::star::star::star::star:<3 | 2010-07-30 14:51:00 Author: IStwisted Posts: 428 |
Just tried this with 3 players but I gave up trying to get up those spinning sponges that squish you because it's not multiplayer friendly at all. Every time one of us died the camera focused on the checkpoint and the respawning player meaning the other players couldn't see anything which caused them to die also which just created a constant loop of dying and respawning. I think moving the checkpoint out of camera view would help there. I'll try it again alone sometime and give more feedback. | 2010-07-30 14:59:00 Author: mistervista Posts: 2210 |
What a nice level, here are my feedbacks : The good : - Good screenplay (dialogues, characters etc). - Nice background (all the small objects caught in the sand). - Well designed characters (especially the King and the Boss). - The difficulty of the Boss is well balanced. The less good : - I like the idea of the clamps but sometimes the gameplay experience was cut by the time you have to wait before jumping again. - The outside areas leave an impression of emptyness (as if the level were not quite finished). http://juliade2.free.fr/LBP/littlebigdude805_1.jpg - A dark matter cube is visible if you fall at this point : http://juliade2.free.fr/LBP/littlebigdude805_2.jpg - Moreover if you try to go left at this point you fall too Anyway a deserved :star::star::star::star::star: Great job ! ok ill get on all those things, i had the gun set to one shot because with infinite or even five ammo i know people would just spaz out and hit it as much as they can, i thought that it would ruin the effect cause it would in turn launch many clams XD its a fairly large target anyway. Im not gunna mess around with the falling blocks, i actually made them easier a few times, trick isnt to try to run away from them but stand next to it as it fallis and step in behind it, the way i designed it was to hit every spot atleast once, so every spot is safe once its been hit. As for the gassing at the end i just thought of something to fix that. Oh and yes this isn't a multiplayer game, There is a ton of of gameplay in this level that is best done with your own camera so i tried my best to scare off multiplayer oh and as for the outside being visible i thought ide leave that there because its the outside of the castle buty eh ill cover it up. LBW7 is LittleBigWorkshop7 a monthly competition with a theme, at the beggining of the month a theme is revealed and you have till the last day of that month to make and submit a level. | 2010-07-30 18:40:00 Author: Littlebigdude805 Posts: 1924 |
this was a beautiful level, but as MrV has already explained, its not multiplayer friendly, it was a constant battle trying to get up the spinning sponges, i still rated it 5 stars though | 2010-07-30 18:58:00 Author: geddez12 Posts: 338 |
The boss looks, dare i say it really cute ! With the bucket on his head ^^ The whole level looks like a fun time, | 2010-07-30 19:03:00 Author: Maxi Posts: 1176 |
lol at first i juggled cute and realistic and it just came out like that lol, anyway ive made all the changes, new tube ride at the end instead of getting gassed too weeeee, it wasn't too easy to get it in but i did im gunna go post in the LBW7 thread so i can't make too many big changes after this. | 2010-07-30 19:46:00 Author: Littlebigdude805 Posts: 1924 |

That was a great LBW7 level Sack dude. The gameplay is amazing and the level design is neat. The boss battle is excellent, but I would like to see less emitting of the falling rocks. Overall great level. 5 stars and a heart. Play and F4F "The Hero Chronicles LV5 Glacier Volcano" | 2010-08-01 18:26:00 Author: JustinArt Posts: 1314 |
Hello! I tried your level: Good: +Gameplay: It was very good and fast. It was always fun and after every part I was like:''What's next?'' +Length: Level had good length. Thats all about it. +Characters: They were fun, good looking and unique. Bad: -Boring boss. It was furstrating. If there were no infinite checkpoint I would have not finished it. -I didn't like the visuals. Big clamps and pencils. They were not for me. Overall it was good level that was little randomly decorated and furstrating at some points. 4 stars. Please play my The Cellar for return | 2010-08-01 18:57:00 Author: FreeAim Posts: 2462 |
Thanks ill get to your level soon | 2010-08-03 00:12:00 Author: Littlebigdude805 Posts: 1924 |
Played again tonight. Loved the slide at the end. Got the boss with a volley over the right claw. it was a sweet shot. | 2010-08-04 04:12:00 Author: IStwisted Posts: 428 |
This was was cute, fun,, and entertaining... The little sneezing clams really made me smile. Other memorable things were the slides and use of thin objects. Boss was good too, only complaint I have is that the falling bricks were next to impossible to dodge... Overall, 5/5! Play my level if you get time, but don't worry about leaving feedback...thanks! | 2010-08-04 06:59:00 Author: Lockstitch Posts: 415 |
