Making a level help: Curse of the Sacred Crown

Plot: You start off in a room. In front of you is the sacred crown sitting on a pedestal. One step towards it. You fall into black darkness. While you are falling the words "Curse of the Sacred Crown" appear. While you are falling these words fade in and out. Then when fading out you die, and you spawn in a new room under the sacred crown room. You need to make your way through back to the crown.

Opinions on my story?

I have some questions and will post more later on:



1. How would I make the falling cutscene thing? I'm thinking they land on a slow platform, darken the screen. Slide in letters. Dissolve. Then kill the player. Activate a new checkpoint.

2. I am making a place where you hang on a rope. Hang on too long and it breaks. 3 seconds or so. How do I do this?

3. Can I hook up a sackboy tracker to a timer, which will trigger an emitter? I have a room where there is a dragon at the bottom who will follow sackboy as he traverses the roof shooting fireballs every now and then.


4. I have a room. In it is a infinite checkpoint. At the other end are locked prize bubbles. In order to get them you have to use a 4 life checkpoint. Or else you'll have to waltz by. I want to destroy the infinite life checkpoint making it so if they attempt to get the prizes, if they fail, game over.

5. I have a room with a statue. You can push and pull but not past a certain point. Would I use strings to do this?
Since I don't want to use a wall. Like the player can still go through but can't pull it through a certain spot? And can I make it impossible to tip over?

1. switch the first two, and the last two. darken room, land on slow plat. slide in letters, dissolve. activate check, and kill.

2. There are a ton of ways to do that. One would be to attach a grab switch on the piece at the end of the rope set to direction connected to a piston with a mag key switch (inverted) set to a brain that pops the whole thing.

3. Those would be separate modules that work in tandem. not directly connected, but connected to the same end product. so, yes.
I just thought, if you added a creature brain to your dragon, you can set it to follow anyway. no sack track needed.

1) Emitters would be the best looking method and you can tweak it to emit multiple times. Slow moving platform is all I can think of... but make it start fairly close to the top or you will be able to tell speed difference.

2) For the rope use a grab switch connected to a timer, you can get this from the logic pack. Set the piston to about 6.2 - 6.5 seconds and then wire that to a piece of dissolve, then shrink it until it is invisible and glue between the rope and (whatever the other end is).

the only reason I didn't say timer is that it is fully extended when it first gets put out, and that would destroy the setup before he gets to it. tweaking the timer to be contracted before you hook it up would be wise. unless there's another timer that I somehow didn't capture.2010-07-29 16:10:00

1. Well you could use the emitter blocking technique>>>>>(http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/entry.php?1041-Emitter-Blocking-Theory) to emitt walls going up at speed so that it looks like your falling down fast. Then All you would have to do is Put the title in front of this and shine some lights on it. (Put a mag key on speed setting so that you get that fade in and out thing) Set up the mag key and mag switch so that the key goes past the switch so that you get that fade in and out effect. Also you could show sackboy falling by using that glitched material where he just hovers a little above the ground. Idk how to reproduce the glitch or how to get my hands on it, but if you could manage to find some then you could do it. Or you could just hide sackboy behind a thin wall and have the title in front. Sorry if I'm not making any sense.

5. You could use the glitched Gas materials from Aya's "Garden of Goodies" lvl. They let sack people through, but they don't let materials pass. Very handy if you don't want a sack person dragging an object for too long.
