Dragons of Myth: GreeceMorgana25
http://i629.photobucket.com/albums/uu15/Morgana25_photos/Photo3-1.pngThe next chapter of the Dragons of Myth series brings you to ancient Greece and where you can platform your way through classical architecture to the scoreboard. Meet a couple of Gods that have some errands for you and come face to face with Ladon, the multi-headed dragon that guards the tree that bears the golden apples.
READY TO PLAY NOW!

http://i629.photobucket.com/albums/uu15/Morgana25_photos/ICON0-1.png

I really took the feedback from Iceland to heart and have tried to fix two things that were lacking in the previous level.

1. Gameplay - I've gone back to a stylized set up in many places to give the player lots more to interact with and some platforming challenges too. It's easy to moderate in most places and with only two areas that might be a little multiplayer tricky it should be fun in a group.

2. Lag - I went to great lenths to keep the lag outta this one. I haven't found anywhere that lags when I play it so hopefully this will meet with the communities approval. I still managed to get some pretty cool lighting I think but I did have some areas I compromised to keep it moving. Yes, even I can edit if I have to. lol

The story is very loose but the characters are based on Greek Mythology and include Zeus, Dionysis, & Ladon.

I've kept the secrets hunt in this one and there are 10 of them to find. Since bubbles are scarce finding these little beauties can get you up on that scoreboard in a hurry so hunt high and low good luck!

Huge thank you's go out to xTrophx/Joey for the dragon and tower designs, emoguy for work on the tower, Silverleon/Yarudark, chuck_18mp, & Joey for stickering dragon heads, Jaeyden for awesome sticker work on the dragon body and some logic tweaks, SLS10 for the critters in the tree, comphermc for his lighting logic, theck mastery and the tree root maze, and to jwwphotos (for pics too), claptonfann, inanimacy and a bunch of other people for countless run throughs and testing for me

THANKS YOU GUYS! YOU ROCK!

.... and with that I present Dragons of Myth: Greece. Hope you like it!

I zoomed onto this level the second I saw you published it

First off I really I'm liking this level because of it's simpleness. Unlike some of your other levels that have millions of ways to go. (The reason I don't like those as much is because it's so much harder to find the secrets ) Now the way the level was made was also very well done. I always love it when you pass by the same point in the level numerous times not for backtracking but for taking a new path past that point. It's obvious that you used your levels room well. The gameplay had a good variety or grabbing, jumping, and all that good stuff. Also, the dragon. Wow. That thing was brilliant. it looked amazing and all the heads made it even more awesome, though I was a bit sad I couldn't kill it like some of the other dragons.

Now as I played through it I did come across some things that you may want to fix. First off was easily the most annoying thing in the level for me, which is the R1 jump pad near the race gate. I spent all the time on the race's clock trying to get up to the platform, but the jump pad just wouldn't push me high enough, luckyily most of the time there was no push, but sometimes there was just enough push to trick me into thinking I could make it to the platform, only to be fooled, and fall into the electricty below. I think that if you made the jump pad activate when you are on top of it, instead of making you tap R1.

Another little nuisance I came across was when you had to make your way through the roots of the tree. There was one part where you had to jump forward to land on a root that would take you up to your right. But, 9/10 times I did this, my sackboy wouldn't land on the root, and just fall back down. Now, all the roots look the same so I really can't tell you exactly where this one is, but if you just try that part several times you may find what I'm talking about. If you do, just moving the wall on one of the roots over would let you easily drop onto the other root

Finally, near the end of the level, I came across 2 bugs. First one was when you find the apple, it tells you to stop and think, but when I saw the apple start to fly away I tried to go after it, only to find myself stuck behind and invisible wall on the top left trees. I thought that this was intentional at first so I jumped down to my left and fell back down to the dragon, where I was forced to kill myself. At this point I respawned up beside Zeus. I'm guessing that if you don't move when the apple flies away, you are killed, so maybe you want to expand that 'kill box' so that it will also kill you if you are on the left. Now, when I was up beside Zeus, I thought I was supposed to go left, and I fell all the way down. So far down that I was back at the first R1 jump pad. I was also REALLY lucky I missed one of the checkpoints, because if I hit it, I'd have to redo half the level

Overall it was a fun experience (Though I was hoping to see more than just two gods) and I gave it 4 stars and a heart

Hey there!

First off, looks amazing!
Just a couple of problems:
1. I kinda got stuck! I totally disappeared whilst crossing the bridge at the beginning, and it took me a little while of blind jumping to get out! Sorry!
2. I got to the water part - and then pushed all the sponges into the containers. What now? Nothing happened :s

Sorry! Apart from that, so far is fantastic. But I really wanna finish!

Thanks Cog - I've blocked the opening under Zeus - I had him blocked on top but missed the bottom. I think the apple thing you ended up under the platform. I gotta take a look at that. I've already boosted the r1 platform on the race. I originally had it activate when you step on it but it wasn't working right and people were having issues getting high enough. The r1 seemed to work better. I have no idea where that root your talking about is. I've run that section so many times and don't have any issues with dropping down unless I'm pushing down. I'll check it again though. Thanks for playing!

@ standby - there are lights that light up when you get them in the right order.... hint - it's not straight up for each sponge. When it's correct the camera will tilt and show you a door that opens on the top right. Good luck! If you disappear at the bridge at the front, chances are your a TheXman. The back of that building is made of theck. Run to the left to get on top of the building - it's easier.

ok - update -

- completely rebuilt the final lift and blocked all possible escape routes. I think It's unbreakable now in that part - try and prove me wrong
- boosted the r1 block on the left side of the race area. Should be able to launch no problem
- tweaked the area behind the building with the theck backing to make getting out to the right easier
- centered the sponge wheel Yaru mentioned.... even though I liked it off kilter a bit.

The level should be working fine now. It's getting hammered in terms of tags... I didn't think it was annoying and boring

Okay, so like. I thought it was awesome, but I think you can do better...

The visuals as always were pretty great. No complaints. Loved the characters. Except those bat things looked out of place.

Gameplay. I dunno. The first half of the level just felt like 'Oh hey, I can grab this' 'Something happened? Oh okay' etc. I didn't feel like I knew what I was doing (or where I was going) and I was just getting lucky. I don't mean you should tell the player exactly what to do, but I think the obstacles and devices should have better visual clues than 'Here, have a lever, pull it'. I didn't have a good reason to do most of what I did.

The gameplay was also slower than I like. Especially underwater - grabbing to change layers was interesting but at times frustrating. The boss though was pretty cool, I liked climbing all over that sucker. And I loved the rotating rings, how did you get them to glow like that? Lastly, it was a tad anti-climactic.. is there a way to make bringing the apple to Zeus more engaging?

All in all I can't say i enjoyed it as much as the other Dragon levels, and I can see where the negative tags are coming from.
4 stars and a heart.

Feel free to disagree with me, I guess.

As expected I really enjoyed this level. The scenery was great, especially the background stuff. The design of Zeus was fantastic. The dragon section was clever and inspirational, especially when you're going up the tree branches.

I found this level to be a little trickier than your previous levels. It's both good and bad. I was confused in a couple of sections. The underwater parts in particular. I was stuck in the part where you have to grab the fabric in order to shift into the next layer. I couldn't see that I needed to grab that because it was maybe too dark. I would suggest either dropping the "R1" hint like you have later on or maybe make the grab-able stuff brighter. Also it took me a while to figure out that I needed to spin the those fabric wheel things--I thought I had to use them to shift into the next layer.

Another section that gave me trouble was once I reached the apple atop of the dragons. My first time through I couldn't grab the apple in time, it went up and stranded me. I had to restart and bolted for the apple next time through. You might have already fixed that I don't know but just thought I'd report the problem.

Overall, this was a great level. Scenery was beautiful and the level design and platforming was clever and well done. I gave it 5 stars and a heart.

Omg, this does look epic... what caught my eye was the Giant tree roots-Jungle like picture, didnt know how you made that for awhile until I realized their actually clouds. Im assuming they took quite alot of the thermo, but you've also used pictures of lots of leaves to make up for it. Iv'e done that before . Also in the first picture the lighting looks pro, I'll be sure to play this soon.2010-07-29 08:09:00

Hey Morgana, played your level. I love secret point areas as usual and I liked how you used grapes. Near the beginning when you go underwater and put three circles in the objects above each one of them, nothing happens and I'm stuck in the water since when I dropped dow I went to a project and there's no ladder to get back up to around the greece logo. What do I do?2010-07-29 12:09:00

Those don't go into the ones above them, try mixing them up.

As usual the visuals we off the chart.
The bats did seem out of place though. Also I think that the part with the tree roots could be brighter as it took me longer than the run-up to Zeus to get past it.

It's definatly a players level, not for the spammy kiddywinkles at all!

Anyway, I did my share of bug fixing last night , and as those were the only cons I had for the level, I gotta' say I really enjoyed it!

The custom textures, the secrets shaped as grapes, the tree root sections, the dragon, the zeus character, everything. Was supreme.

Did you use the thermo glitch to sqeeuze all that in or was it down to a very tight selection of materials?

I really don't understand the negativity about this level. Boring? Slow? Annoying?

FTW! It's your best yet!!

Many sections had me tearing my hair out trying to figure out the way forward, and I thought some of the secrets were really dastardly, with the way I could see them but not get to them. The whole thing felt like one giant, archeological puzzle, oozing atmosphere and packed with hidden nooks and crannies to explore. In that respect, the level is right up there with one my all time faves Tomb Raider. The visuals once again were jaw dropping, the foliage, the architechture, the dragon, Zeus....everything. The subtle touch that really made me smile though was the way you turned a cluster of score bubbles into a bunch of grapes to compliment the Grecian theme. Genius.

How embarrassing! It turned out to be my skill that was at fault...
Great level though! I replayed it, this time finishing the level, and whenever I have played any of the levels of this series, I am never ceased to be amazed at the quality of the level itself - especially the dragons, and the characters! This level was truly stunning, in terms of both gameplay, and appearances. You seem to live up to your title of lighting queen, and I had no choice but to heart this level and give it the 5 stars that it deserves!
But, in terms of the part I had trouble with, would it be wise to add a hint somewhere? Such as a sticker switch that kind of says what you told me? Because when I played last night, I noticed that at the time there had been around 40 plays or something, but only 4 had completed it, and I think it is a shame that others haven't been able to finish it, as they are truly missing out. Well, it's up to you!

Great level - can't wait to see what you create next! More dragons I hope!

First of all, it's great that you took in the feedback from the community and are trying to make your levels even better.
Yay more gameplay and no/less lag! My cuppa tea.

Here are my notes:

+ grape bonus/chomp sfx is a nice touch.

- I realise and intro is an intro, and you want some epic scope, but instead of just making the player walk, you could have some exposed pillar platforms or something, just to break it up a little. Jumping over a block is more fun than walking.

- The first underwater part. The moving pillars don't come down far enough to squash sackboy, and I can't see them adding to any visual element, so I don't know what purpose they serve.

- Also, they don't line up with the decorations above, I feel it would look nicer balanced. Either having 4 pillars lined up with above decorations, or cutting out one of the crests/decs and lining them up with the pillars.

- The underwater puzzle. Hmm, all the buoys look the same to me, as do the semicircles you place them in. If I was a random kiddie gadder playing this level via cool pages or what-not, I would simply release the buoys (they float right up into the semicircles) and assume that is it and that the puzzle must be broken . To cater to this player, I would add symbols to match up (not lights/colours as that is pretty chich? in LBP imo) to make it clearer. I understand the experimental puzzle thing you've got going here, but the kiddies may not. But like many elements in LBP, this is a personal preference thing and totally up to you. Also, why is one light green and the other two blue? :/

- Chain/string combo. Interesting. Personally I don't like this, as I like my LBP elements consistant. Chains should pull and sting should stay the same length. If you like the visuals of the string, I would suggest attaching that end piece to some cardboard and pulling that up with a chain or something.

- I think here is where that "annoying" tag comes up. I feel the timing of these electrified roating circles are a bit um...annoying. Players have a tendancy to jump (big) to the next circle, which in this case doesn't work out so hot. The majority are also somewhat impatient which doesn't help here either. The timing of the first-second circle is always changing, so I found it harder to judge, it should be eaiser for this stage in the level imo. There are several ways to inmprove this section (make first circle rotate anti-clockwise, or sync up the circles so they are consistant on every attempt, another solution would to make it more forgiving with more sponge and less electricity.) cont:

In my first attempt of most LBP platformers I tend to run like a madman because of the infinite checkpoints. With the circle section I died a lot, losing count of how many deaths I racked up. Spawning over and over, the simple act of being unable to switch foward layers at the checkpoint became a source of further frustation. My advice would be to make the area between the checkpoint and circle hazards 2 layers thick, instead of 1 that opens into 2. I assume you purposely made it this way so the player doesn't just run off the edge, but I think the delay of switching layers is enough. I hope you can understand my picky jibberish.

- Second water switch part. After you open the back layer path, I feel it is too obscured. First play through I didn't see it at all, jumped foward a layer and reactivated the old checkpoint. Big mistake. Little did I know the pull up sponge was permanent, so I couldn't get back to the door room. Since I didn't know the back path existed at this point, I didn't test for that, but if you can't get back into that back layer the player has to restart the level.
Also the grabbable layer you use to move between sections could be highlighted somehow.

- After my replay I get to the next section. There is a checkpoint to the right, and very annoying use of the 3rd glitch/thin gas. Directly infront of said checkpoint, there is a ledge. A ledge that looks like you can move foward into, but cannot. I could go into a full blind rage rant about the 3D glitch (or thin gas) use in situations like this and how it causes more problems than it solves, but I'll just take a deep breath an continue. Long story short: if I see 3 layers (the staple of LBP, which I don't believe should be messed with), I expect to be able to move between them. Please, please, please fix.

+ Ha. The next part is an example of how to use the 3D glitch correctly. There are three layers in front, all walkable. In the background, there are pillars. These pillars do not have any platforms that look attainable. They look good while player is in motion. End of story.

- Next checkpoint. See that pillar in the forground. Sure looks attainable. I wonder if there are any secret grapes up ther..arh! I fell. Down to the bottom of the stair no less. You see my point?

- The tree tops (after branch maze) are hard. The camera is awkward and doesn't let you see the one you need above your head. It's very easy to grab the cloud you don't want. Plus it's too dark. I know a level is too dark when I take off all the decorations and sticker each layer a different primary colour. I had to do that here.

- The checkpoint at the top of the trees after the bright green roating donuts. Only by complete fluke did I grab that grassy sponge.

+ The next set of platform trees are much clearer than the previous section.

- There were a few other minor things that I didn't care much for(for example length of grabbable sponge during race), but they are pretty much just based on personal preference.

Good/memorable:
- Branch maze.
- Dragon. It felt like I was climbing a fricking dinosaur.
- All visuals. As usual. Best visual element imo was the custom textured clouds.

If you ever need a playtester who is overly critical and will scrutinise your every design decision, gimme a call

Kudos once again for your effort to add more gameplay and cut the lag. I think this is the first level thread I have ever thanked.

@ Asbestos - nope, no thermo glitch here. Believe me, I thought about it. lol I'm hesitant to use it because I don't know how it will react with LBP2, plus my stuff already runs the risk of lag with the lights so I thought it best not to tempt the fates on this one.

About the underwater puzzle - Maybe I'll add stickers or something - I liked that you had to think it through but the typical player is probably giving up there.... alas, a compromise probably needs to be made.

@ Midnight-Heist - wow, that's some detailed and well thought out feedback! Thanks! I see your points for most of what you said and get where your coming from on all of it. Some of the suggestions I can't change because of the way it's set up but I'll keep it in mind for the next build.

Thanks everyone for the positivity. I was feeling pretty low about it last night.

Hey, I played your level and it was fun even though I still am not even close to the end so I'll try another time. I love the underwater challenges, although I would like some checkpoints underwater unless your meaning to make it kinda tricky which is fine. Secrets are awesome as usual and the story rocks even though whe going on the platform above the water after getting through it, i pulled the switch, didn't know what to do, when right and accidentally ended right back where I was so I had to do it again. When I did, the thing I grabbed thatpulled me up was up too high for me to reach so I'll just have to try again later. Overall, I gave it :star::star::star::star: for what I've played so far. Typically, harder and more tricky levels are always pelted with bad tags. Especially if they have played something of yours that wasn't that hard the last time.

Ok, I reached the end on my own and now feel qualified to comment... Bear with me won't you? I don't play your levels for the platforming or the ememies! There I said it. To be all too frank, they are all quite similar. All levels generally have similar mechanics for navigating the corridors. (unique to level) device 'A' opens door 'B'. All generally have me running more than platforming. R1 inverted grabs. There is generally some square 'ooga-booga' running about that I wince at, all have their share of secrets, and all are some of the most freaking beautiful creations I have ever laid my eyes on! Ok, so they lag a little... I dont care I like 'em.

I play your levels and heart them for the sheer majestry and pagentry of them... and Greece is short on neither! The characters are neither simple or overly complex... they are smartly designed and brilliant! The lighting alone on ZEUS is better than I could ever muster and that doesn't take into account the other 99% of the level. The characters, the trees, the design, material choices, even the fruit make you so very unique and... so far separated from the crowd... I think, your just not that unique in comparison to yourself-

If I've got this right you released DOM:Iceland on 6/5... had like 2 weeks of block... and released DOM:Greece, like 3 weeks later... on top of DOM2 in April.

I just think there hasn't been enough time between releases... Absence makes the heart grow fonder... I still remember the spinning circles last time... and now I've got more. For me, it didn't all feel as fresh as normal... It didn't feel as fresh as 'Playgamer' with it's pretty yet sterile, stark masculine beauty. For the first time since before ChromaStone1 (...excluding Yarudark's Lab) I only had a good time and not great.

(I'm cuppin' da 'nads... plz do't wand too harshly!)

I do love your Dragons series. This level was every bit as good as the others and, like them, it looked stunning. I spend a lot of the time playing your levels just running around saying "Wow, look at that! It's just gorgeous!". Your use of materials and decorations is simply second to none, not to mention your lighting. I loved all the different uses you made of the cloud object in this level ? they looked so good as trees and as Zeus?s beard! The character work on the two Gods was superb and Zeus in particular was very lively with his glowing eyes and all his lightning bolts. The dragons were really effective too. You got them to move really fluidly (and threateningly!).

The temple was gorgeous. The buildings had lovely detail wherever you looked and that massive colonnade section with the 3d arches in the background was amazing and beautifully lit too. I also loved the top section of the tree with those green clouds and the amazing snake coils like Elvenbane?s.

The gameplay was good too. I enjoyed tracking down the secrets and eventually found all of them ? woot! The race certainly added to the tension and I loved climbing the dragons at the end. I did not find the pace too slow and I thought it was a good thing that you raised the difficulty.

I had only a couple of issues. The first time I played the level I was rushing through rather and ran so quickly towards the race gates that I triggered them before Zeus appeared, at which point the speech bubbles froze me so that I couldn?t move away from the gates without closing down all four bubbles first. As I didn?t want to miss the speech, I just had to let the clock tick agonisingly away until I had read all the text. It may not be something that would happen to anyone else but I thought I would mention it anyway.

The second thing was the checkpoint at the end of the water section. If you swing to the left at the top of the shaft you don't necessarily trigger the check point and clumsily I often manage to fall back down the hole when I jump back to the right. As the sponge does not come back down, if you haven?t triggered the checkpoint, you can?t re-spawn back at the top. The first time this happened I almost re-started the whole level but then guessed that the switch below is what makes the sponge drop (as you don't have a cutscene showing what the switch does, this wasn?t immediately obvious). I think someone else on here also thought they had to quit the level in these circumstances. Even if you do realise about the switch, it's still a pain (though admittedly a deserved one!) to have to go back and re-do that section. Again most people probably don't fall in the hole  but it should be easy to tweak the checkpoint so it triggers even if you go left.

Oh and really gorgeous title too!

Well oh well, let me just comment about this level.

It was wonderful. I felt like you went back to the DOM roots to create this level, the square-y structure, solid gameplay and nifty, well placed lightning. I liked the freshness of the "pool" part
The Dragon(s) were wonderful, such a hard time to decide how to make it! lol

Though, I wont leave here without telling you about the music dilemma. The first Marvel song just didn't felt right, this song is mostly used to be in epic scenes, like climbing the huge tree( ) but swimming through to get grapes? I don't know to be honest, haha.
So, a calm punchy song would be great, maybe i could try to tweak an INT song to try something...

Overall, everything felt right into place and even if you had to threw a lot, it still is great for what we get. Making sequels ISN'T easy, so just don't listen to anybody saying the series' fading out... m'kay?

ok - few more changes

- changed the speed on the sponge wheels so they are much easier now - hoping that will cut down on the tricky tags
- stickered the sponge puzzle in the underwater section so it's painfully clear what goes where - see above comment about tricky tags
- activated the checkpoint above the water area by the raising sponge so a quick pop can fix the falling problem.
- backlit the sponges underwater so they are much more visible. Hope that makes it less annoying.

This is stunning, really beautiful!
As always, the design is 1st rate (I love the counter at the end for the hidden grapes!)
And I love the shifts in atmosphere in your levels - here its the awe of the Greek architecture and the dark claustrophobic tree section - and that immense Dragon! As with Iceland (I think those 1st shots of the boat are my all time favourite LBP opening sequence!) - there are some truly epic cinematic scenes that really burn into the memory.

Shame you had to water down a few elements to appease the cripple minded masses M. I loved the fact that it was a constant challenge to figure out the path forward rather than being led by the hand all the way. And that tree root section everyone seems to hate? That's one of my favourite bits, so please don't give in and ditch it altogether!

The one and only gamplay blooper I do agree with though is the underwater section where you can accidentally set yourself back by grabbing the first sponge lever, thus layer shifting and returning to the foreground where you have to go all the way around again. I played in a group of 4 last night and they all did it by mistake, then got frustrated and confused about it. That kinda thing can easily spoil the overall experience of a level for some people.

Hey Morgana, I thought I would pop by and say hello.

What a superb level you have here, it was really fun, the platforms felt well planned out. I loved the race, where it goes up and up and up using the same mechanics.
The character design was fantastic, I never go near that part of level design because I'm so bad at it, but I know which is bad or good and yours was brilliant.

The only nitpick I have is that sometimes, I got stuck. I didn't know where to go, and the bouncy bits that flung you up in the air were abit tricky and hard to spot, but thats it. Well done.

PS - The lighting was good, as always.

Wow. You are a level creating monster! You put these quality levels out so fast I sometimes don't realize it's a new one!

Well, as usual - fantastic job. Platforming wise, this was my favorite one. The gameplay was great, and the visuals were stunning. My favorite part was working through the tangled roots - kind of a flashback to the below the root series for me.

I agree with Ungreth in that it isn't totally mass friendly, but that's why I enjoyed it so much. Maybe make a backup that you can restore after cool pages if you plan on dumbing it down.

Just played this yesterday and really liked it! My feedback:

Gameplay
It stayed true to the DoM-style (i.e. platforming with puzzles and bosses etc), which I really enjoy. I was expecting a boss battle with the dragon, but instead it was a challenging bit of platforming. I enjoyed trying to collect the grapes (I found all of them except a few) and the water sections were creative. The only issue I had with the gameplay was that there were a few layer-switching issues in the apple tree part. (I know it's not your fault and you can't fix it, I'm just pointing it out :/ ) I had to try about 6 times before I could jump down through the middle layer to get the grapes on the far left of the tree. :/

Visuals and Story
The visuals looked fantastic and very Ancient Greek (the art style reminded me a lot of the Disney version of Hercules actually! ) All the characters looked fantastic and as usual the humor was charming and there were many laugh-out-loud moments in both Zeus' and Dionysus' dialogue. The story was easy to understand and you didn't need to know much (if anything) about Greek mythology to understand who the Gods were etc.

Rating
I really enjoyed this level, :star::star::star::star::star: and a <3

Awesome level, again. I'd say that it's my favorite one in the series so far. The end was absolutely epic, the sense of scale was great.

I'd say it's probably my favorite because it has more variety than the last ones, imo. You go from some Greek city to some more ruin-type places into a mystical giant forest and finally reach heaven/Mount Olympus/whatever it is. I don't know what did it, but it was also my favorite to search for secrets in. I still haven't found 'em all though. I think this level has a great build-up to the epic boss fight. The giant tree section was amazing.

Oh, and great job on the dragon, Joey. It went super ham.

I hooked up a sensor to the checkpoint so as long as you make it to that first ledge below the sponge the checkpoint gets activated. No more getting stuck if you drop back down. You could always go grab the lever again and it will come back since it's set up on a set/reset but now you don't need to if you don't want to. Pop and you'll be on the platform above.

Wow. You are a level creating monster! You put these quality levels out so fast I sometimes don't realize it's a new one!

Yea, this one came together pretty fast. The longest part was getting the tree set up and trying to fit in the ending after I'd used way too much thermo on the tree. lol

I agree with Ungreth in that it isn't totally mass friendly, but that's why I enjoyed it so much. Maybe make a backup that you can restore after cool pages if you plan on dumbing it down.

Well so far it's the sponge puzzle that got stickered and the rotating sponges that got "dumbed" down. I've got the original settings saved on a backup level... I might bring those back after it gets a little stale and the average player forgets about it. lol

Thanks for the plays and kind words guys.

I was stunned by this level. I really didn't know where my eyeballs were at the end of it. They had probably been absorbed into the screen as eye-candy.

The story was amazing, as was the difficulty, and placement of thin gas (yes, I know you did!!). The use of materials was not only very wise, but you managed to sticker them in the right way so that it gave enough variety to the level. Sometimes it was a bit hard to see where I was going, but that was okay. I was amazed that you didn't use the thermo glitch on this level, as the amount of stuff in it boggled me. Brilliant use of space, and the boss(ses) was(were) amazing... Pity I didn't get to fight it. Not enough thermo left?
Zeus's character design was fun; clouds are awesome!
I got all but two grapes... WHERE ARE THEY MORGANA?? I can pay you moneys. :3

I gave this brilliant level :star::star::star::star::star: and a <3!
Now give this level a spotlight! *wink wink*

This is the best of your level series yet Morgana. The ruins design is magnificent and the lighting is great. The gameplay is also ingenious especially if you're underwater and the character designs are well made. This level deserves 5 :star:s and a <3 just like your other 3 "Dragons of Myth" levels.

By the way, one of the rotation tools on one of the dragon's heads is visible.

One of my favorite series' in the game.

I thought the first half while very beautiful and designed well was kinda boring or not memorable. Maybe its just me though, my friend had the same feelings though. I think the level turns around after you meet Zeus, the forest design in wonderful and very detailed. I love every single part of the forest.

I especially enjoyed the root maze and the tail part. I was a bit disappointed in how easy the boss was, but cool idea nonetheless.

Oh, and during the race I noticed that when you jump and grab onto the spinning sponge you can just jump ontop of it and jump onto the moving columns above, skipping the entire section. Don't know if you can understand what I mean though, lol

I gave it 5 stars and a heart~

Yep I understand where you mean. I actually designed the columns first and when I discovered you could essentially skip half that section if you could platform well I decided to make it a race. If your clever and good at exploiting jumps you get a higher score 2010-07-31 05:36:00

Wow i spent so much time in that level finding all the secrets (which i havent :/ I missed 2) that I can remember every single bit of it.
And every single bit was great (except the secrets I havent found :/ ) Is it worth it to find all? will there be an epic reward or just bubbles?
Using clouds as trees was a great idea. I loves how many different areas the level had to offer.

Wow the lighting in the beginning was enough for a heart . the gameplay was nice and the character design was outstanding. Loved the dragon heads. I think I seen all the grape bunches but I couldnt figure out a way to get to some of them. Ill play it until I find them all . Nice use of using the MM clouds as trees. 5 stars and a <3. I dont get how this level has a main tag of annoying though. We need to fix that as its in no way annoying.

I played it alone yesterday evening in order to appreciate it more. It's another great Morgana level there. I freaking love your Zeus and yet again you pulled off great visuals. You greatly improved the slowdown wich is a very nice thing for me. I love your characters in general and greek dude eating raisins was ace and so fitting! lol.

My only downside to this experience was the amount of "layer change messing around" there was. I like it but at a smaller dose than here. I suppose this is also why you got that "annoying" tag from the general (and quite tasteless) LBP audience. Regardless the layer messing, the level had a good rythm to it and wasn't bored or discouraged going through it. I have to mention that all that "grab to pass" underwater gameplay felt original to me. Nice touch!

Another great level, morgana I found this one especially interesting since I kind of have a thing for Greek / Roman architecture. The visuals were great, the gameplay was solid, and I really liked the boss! he wasnt al lthat challenging but it was stilll a fun guy to jump around on. I will sheepishly admit that I gave up during the race...not sure what I was doing wrong with the R1 block...I assume I was supposed to get to the wheels on the columns.,,not cool to put something so fiddly in a race! The level was excellent up to that point with nicely placed secrets. Zeus was indeed amazing, I did trigger the race before he had a chance to pop up though. I liked the wheel for changing planes underwater, the places where you just grabed a wall were a little awkward and so were the wheels to open the passages...but it was functional and different. Oh yeah...best use of the cloud item ever!2010-08-01 01:42:00

Don't feel too bad fullofwin... I had to quit there too. The double jump R1 mechanic has never worked well for me. I just can never time it right, and when I finally do I am so surprised that I typically don't manage to stick the landing (or even move for that matter, since I've been struggling over and over just going straight up). When I finally made the landing and transported myself across the tops with the spinners, I missed the first jump in the stair-stepping levels at the right - and there I was back at the start again. I just couldn't stand the thought of trying it again (I was on try # 15-20 at that point). It's too bad - I think I was doing pretty good on the secrets, and I really wanted to see your new dragon.

Aside from the race section being impossibly frustrating for me, the remainder of the level was beautiful and fun. I usually don't like underwater sections, but you made them just long enough (or short enough??) to be fun without cramping up my hands. Personally I liked all the mechanics - the wheely switches, the underwater wall crawls, even the spinners (I know, right?). And of course, your trademark lighting and character design, as well as your pro-quality use of the layer glitch, make it a splendid beauty to behold.

I did get stuck at the beginning and had to pop. I took a pic, but I forgot to export it before I turned off the PS3. It was at the GREECE intro. I walked to the right, rather than jumping up onto the wall behind the GREECE lettering, and somehow I became stuck behind the wall. Not really sure where I was, but sacky could not be seen and I was vertically at about the same level as the platform prior (to the left from the approach) and horizontally I was very near the large column in the foreground on the left. (Hope that helps).

I try never to rate a level for my shortcomings as a player, but I found the jumping at the race section to just be too exacting, so I gave it:

I'm not sure where you mean on the stuck part Vortex - maybe you can show me in game? Also - I don't know why that r1 is giving people so much trouble. It's powerful enough to sent you almost to the next checkpoint above most of the times you hit it. Any more power and I'll shoot you up into the finish gate. lol. I had it as a player sensor switch, which is havock in multiplayer and wasn't as reliable as the grab..... not sure what I can do there.....

If you want to finish it Vortex - hop over - I'll give you the tour.

EDIT: OK - I've changed the nasty r1 in question to a player prox sensor.... might give multiplayer a bit of trouble but it will work. If you guys that quit could try it again and report back if it's better or worse than your r1 experience - I'd appreciate it

I found 7 secrets, got only 6 of them though, I have no idea how you get that one that you see but can't reach.
This level is my favourite one of the dragons of myth series, the marvel music fits in really well and the visuals are just... *head apslodes* I wrote that wrong on purpose for no reason
Really clever use of the clouds, too. I have never seen that before, but that looks great.
The puzzles were hard but not too hard, just perfect.
Zeus looks amazing, it might be a little confusing if you are playing with the Kratos costume... good thing I don't have it, you would have gooten a really cool pic uploaded.
Speking of pics, I took one and uploaded it, it's from the part where you spawn into the level. I usually take a pic on the part that I think looks amazing and impresses me.

I don't think I have to say how I rated this level

With the revised race section I was able to finish easily with time on the clock. The treetop canopy w/the dragon was just beautiful and also a lot of fun. For some reason the R1 grab blocks here didn't pose a problem. Lots of cool stuff in this level...and some really nice background work. Not quite as fun as some of the other entries in the series but still a great 5 star level.2010-08-01 17:52:00

Ok, so I finally got my internet connection fixed and my first order of business was playing this level! All I can say it's wow...this is surely my favorite level from the 'Dragons of Myth' series. One of the things I loved the most was that root maze section. The lighting and colors that you used there were simply perfect! Very very pretty! Also, every time you create a new level I'm more and more impressed by your clever use of odd objects... this time it was those clouds that you used as leaves. Freakin' genius!
I was a bit hesitant when you first started creating this level and told me that you were going to build a dragon of 1000 heads! It obviously doesn't have 1000, but its one of the coolest ones I've seen, so congrats!

Can't wait to see what you build next! Great great level!

Well I finally got around to playing this and I was not disappointed! In my opinion, it's by far the best entry into the Dragons of Myth series. The character design is fantastic (I especially love the graph eating guy!) and the theme was extremely well done. Starting out in the town with all the columns and working your way up to Zeus and then into the forest and up to the dragon felt very epic! The dragon was also very cool, it was a bit tricky moving from head to head, but nothing too frustrating. Overall, very well done and my personal favorite in this series. Keep it up!2010-08-02 14:14:00

I thought it was absolutely wonderful.. I don't get why people have hammered it with the tags :/ Jealousy?? Ignorance?? Conspiracy?!
I agree with msc above. I think this is your best yet in terms of variety of environments, characterisations, slick visuals and general gameplay. Your lighting this time round was very subtle. I was thinking there wasn't nearly as much, but there was indeed on reflection, it was just integrated so seamlessly into the environments, so congratulations on that achievement!

Anyhow, I felt you managed a good balance between easy and difficult platforming - there's plenty of variety for everyone. Those semi-electrified, rotating circles were HARD, esp with 4 players and navigating that root maze was HARD, but that increased the enjoyment for me, really. And the fact you cut so much of it out of blocks.. that blows my mind, honestly.

There was only one section where I had difficulty in managing the gameplay and that was in the sprung platform that shoots you up to the tops of the columns. With more than 1 player it was impossible to see where you were when you were up in the air as the camera remained on the player/s who didn't manage to get on the platform with you, so I couldn't navigate my jump to the columns. Max got it by sheer happenstance, but it took us quite a few goes as we could not all get on it at the same time (incompetence? Most likely). Anyhow, there's nowt much to be done about that as it's just the hazard of multi-playing. BUT I WANTED THAT SECRET .. jk. I'll go get it on my own sometime.

I really had fun traversing the dragon heads. There's been a definite 'progression away from aggression' in our dealings with the focal points of this series I'm predicting that in your next Dragons of Myth installment we'll have to actively save dragons! Lol!

I thought your tree foliage was stylised and gorgeous and was a nice counterpoint to the crisp edges of the Greek architecture. Kinda reminded me of Hercules, one of my favourite Disney moves of all time.

Now I sound like I'm waffling so, I'll stop. 5 stars and a heart. Easily. I loved it, Morgana. Thanks for sharing your immense talent with us so readily

Thanks MRSC & BabyDoll and everyone else who's posted So glad you guys liked it!

@ BabyDoll - you can still get that secret by jumping left from the second non moving platform you reach after the swaying columns. The one in front of the checkpoint.... just saying

Catching up with some levels having been taking a long break from LBP. This was a stunner. Looked great with superb characters and set pieces. Definitely had issues with layer changing but not enough to lessen the experience.

I was going to warn you about the short cut through the race, but you already know about it so not much to say other than your level is amazing!

Wow, Matt - I thought you were busy on your new moped riding through the rainy mountains of Scotland in your kilt.... well, good to see you around!

Back on topic....
dragon head climbing was awesome, however this level had no feeshe.... I gave it 5 stars instead of my usual 6 (the last level got an extra star for the inclusion of feeshe).

Also, this level was seriously missing lag - you'll need to work on that for the next one.

I tried to think of a feeshe reference CCubbage - I really did.... alas she's feeshe-less.

The loss of lag is most un-Morgana like CCubbage - I know.... I caved in to the masses... I'm such a sell out.

Ya - glad to see ya around Matt I consider it a personal victory to have dragged you back to the forums Thanks for the play and the nice comments. Always love to hear from you.

Hi Morgana! I played this level and I have this to say:
I loved the style of that guy who tells you about secrets. I also was impressed from the way you used clouds to bring more 'Greecish' atmosphere. Zeus looked good and he was a little bit funny as a character. But still the levels name is 'Dragons of the Myth' so I expected a little more... dragonish feeling. After beating the part with water I was kinda lost. I couldn't find a way to move on in 10 minutes and I was about to give up. Also all 'spinning sponge switches' at the water part were all the same so I found it very repetitive. At the big tree part there was a layer problem, wich caused me to fall down over and over again. It made that part frustrating. Still I won't say that it ruined the level. Overall the level was good and its visuals were good also. I didn't know how to rate level because it was very much between 3 and 4 stars. I gave it a heart for a reason that I like greece mythology very much and this level had it. If I would make any changes to the level they would have be too big for me to tell them all. I finaly decided to give level 3 stars and beautiful tag. Level was good but still a bit frustrating. I'm waiting for next DoM level.

Moped??? Do not speak of 'The Beast' like this. You're not wrong about the rain though. I had hoped to get a wee bit of weekend riding done (behave) but as usual the sun, or even a dry day, is nowhere to be seen.

Well Morgana, this level was worth coming back for. As much as I thought your previous levels looked great, I felt that this, and the others in the series, are a step up visually. The big dragon at the end was just awesome. I kinda wanted to kill it though haha!

Ya I hear ya about not being able to kill the dragon. Here's how that all came about.....

Initial plan was to make a multi-headed dragon that spewed multicolor plasma at the player and they'd have a knock down drag out paintinator battle where they had to knock out the heads one by one all while avoiding falling branches too.....

The reality became....

1. It was way too much fun climbing and getting flung around on the heads after Joey got the movements done and I couldn't figure out a way to let the player do that without it becoming a brain hunting expedition again. Plus since there's no ground or branches in that area, once the last brain was popped you'd fall into the gas below OR I'd have to use force gassing (which I hate) to teleport the player to the next area.

2. By the time I had the tree worked out there was woefully little thermo to play with. I had to scrimp and save to get the stuff after the dragon in the level at all. This is partially due to bad planning on my part and falling in love with the dang tree and not wanting to compromise on it to attempt to make the boss a battle style boss.

So ya, I've learned a few things making this level. I knew to do the boss early on, I did that with Iceland and Teotihuacan, but what I didn't do this time was nail down an attack plan before getting too close to the end of the thermo.

Still, I think climbing over the heads is really fun and makes for fun gameplay. I guess I can live with that

Well even with little thermo you can do wonderfull things but the problem must have been that you used many different materials and that's why thermo maxxed out. Level was long enough and it could have been a bit shorter from tree part. It doesn't matter if it goes fast but it could be much better with a little bit more gameplay. Not just moving from layer to another. You should at least put few signs in tree and water puzzle parts if not changing them otherwise.2010-08-08 07:57:00

Yikes.. so sorry for not posting comments earlier, but you sorta already know what I think!! lol So you are welcome for the bump.

Really though I loved this one. Even though I have enjoyed all the Myths series thus far, this to me was more back to the Egypt level with lots of varied platforming, wonderful scenery, freaking wild dragon and tons of great stuff to peek and look around in. Awesome job! Parts may be tricky, but by golly.. it is worth the few extra tries in finding the way up to the top to find the scoreboard.

Loved all the nice touches.. especially the use of grapes for the secrets and cool cool scoreboard. The characters were incredible and even using the clouds for trees and nifty bits on Zeus himself. Congrats!

15 stars and a 4 hears no matter what anyone else comments on the level!!!! Phooey on them!! ...though I could only give you 5 and a heart.

Very, very nice. Definitely my favorite of yours so far. I was going to comment about the great platforming and lack of lag, but I noticed you explained in your post how you've worked towards those things. Thanks!

Once I went up from the roots and saw the treetops and snake/dragon coils along with that heavy Marvel music, I was amazed. The entire tree section blew me away (and I don't get blown away often.) But, everything in the level was great. I love how planned-out the level looks and how well all the backtracking and platforming fit together.

One thing: On either of the two far-right coils, if you grab the outside and then let go when you're on the right, you can fall back to the tree root section and even land right over its checkpoint. Also... I really dislike the look of the gigantic blob of yellow gas. Have you considered using invisible gas or something?

Anyway, 5 Stars and a heart from me!

I'm not a fan of random gas either. I suppose I could make it black but I think my reasoning behind the green was it would sort of be more tree-ish. I suppose I could make it invisible too but knowing it's there helps the player to know if you fall, you die. So I think it needs to be visible.

Thanks for the nice comments though - glad you guys are enjoying it!

I'm sorry it's taken me so long Morgana, but at last I am here to say how stunning the latest level in your series is.

Absolutely stunning visuals. The characters are sublime and the stage is authentic and beautiful. I love the colours and the crispness of the architecture is superb.

I admire your talent for combining gorgeousness with actual playability!

I had a little trouble with the gameplay aspect, my skills at fault, so sadly I didn't get to the end but someone somewhere is sure to take pity on me and help me through it at some point, hopefully!

Fantastic work Morgana.

I got to play this before I went away on holidays. Just had to pop by and say it blew me away.

The level structure is the best for any of the other dragon levels (which are still awesome) The boss wasn't as good as the last one, but I really don't think anything could be.

5 stars and a <3

I played this earlier and for the most part i enjoyed it. The tree part with dragon/dragons and clouds with stickers on them and apples looked very nice.

In the begining of the level I got a little confused when pulling some of the switches, it was kind of hard to tell exactly what they did, but that also added to the feel of the level. It felt like I was in some old greek temple figuring things out.

A part that bothered me a little was in the begining of the tree It was a little annoying to jump where you wanted to. I'd sometimes get lodged onto a layer I didn't want to. Seems like you were going for a sort of little maze type thing there, but after a while it got a little tiresome.

Aside from that it was a nice level with top notch visuals.

The design was amazing as usual, and the secret bunches of grapes were cool, so well done on that front once again. The gameplay was greatly improved since Iceland, thanks a million for a fun level! I agree that the maze at the start of the tree was dimly lit and hard to navigate, it took a while to figure out the system. The dragon was awesome and climbing over it was really awesome, I've never seen anything like that! I felt a boss battle was missing, maybe next time? Over all it was great, I liked the water sequence a lot. Your gameplay is coming on in leaps and bounds, keep up the good work! =D
