How similar is this game to the Red Alert/C&C series?

I haven't played many RTS's, and of the latest ones I've only played RA3. However, from that I found the style of the game fairly similar. In SC you just need to get used to using the 3 races.

And by style i mean how the game plays, not looks. For example, I'd say RUSE is totally different (I don't like it).

Really? I was gonna buy RUSE on my 360 just because it was a WW2 RTS...2010-07-29 15:39:00

It's in it's box, lying on the computer desk, already installed. One problem - I can't play it until my holidays which is about 9 weeks away... 2010-07-29 15:58:00

The game is fantastic. If you played the original the new game will feel very familiar...but they've also made lots of changes to both units and tech trees...and the graphics are stunning. I've played multi-player only for a few hours using a guest pass...but I'm not sure I'll actually pick this up (I need a new computer). I played the original almost every day for 2 years when it came out...not sure I'm willing to invest that kind of time to get competitive in this new version.2010-07-29 16:28:00

well, it looks like a good game, i like that they dont merge into eachother when near eachother like the first. Though i think supreme commander has to take 1rst place for sci fi rts. I love the way starcraft is though, it looks easy to make units and bases.2010-07-29 17:27:00

I know a few people who like it so it may still be a good game, but the kind of RTS it is isn't too much like C&C and SC. I played it a bit when they did a free weekend a few weeks ago, and it just wasn't my thing. I think i prefer Sci-Fi RTS's as I liked Company of Heroes but couldn't stick with it.

EDIT: Im on the last 3 missions of SC2 now and it is awesome! I also have a spare Guest Pass if anyone wants it, though please make sure you can actually play the game lol (use this if your unsure: http://cyri.systemrequirementslab.com/CYRI/ ).

Oooh, I got this a couple days ago, and it's absolutely fantastic! Have yet to check out the multiplayer, but soon as I'm done the campaign I'm gonna be taking people on there. If anyone wants to play a friendly match or try to team up against other people / computers, send me a message! Let's be friends 2010-08-03 00:21:00

Guest card isn't that good, it's expires after 7 hours or 14 days. Kind of lame but better then nothing.2010-08-08 10:19:00

Hey, I purchased this game recently, but I really suck! If you have this game send me a friend invite and maybe you could help me improve.

Starcraft 2 name- TD_Jolly

And I also have my brother (who is much more skilled than me... and who convienced me to play Starcraft 2). He is TD_Chilly.

Really fun game so far. But hard to master!

Yes I'm bumping a 3 week old thread. But it's better then starting a new one IMO. Anyone want to get some practice 1v1s going? PM me and I'll send you my information.2010-09-24 20:50:00
