Games in LBP2

Archive: 16 posts

Well, I've always wanted to make this thread... And considering that LBP2 is supposed to be based around the idea of making full games...

Why have we not seen more level packs made by a group of users? I don't really know if I've heard of any besides LBPC: The Game (which still isn't out yet, though it's finally almost here >_>). I don't really count the Logic Pack because, well, it's tutorials. I'm talking about actual games.

Now, I don't expect any last minute games to be made in LBP1 since LBP2 is only three and a half months away (which kinda means that LBPC :The Game will be the "last hurrah" of LBP1... I unno, just me thinking). Though I think there was also that ClockWork Chronicles that I know little about...

ANYWAY, so people are talking about making games in LBP2...

I've just always wondered why there haven't been more attempts to do so. Or attempts that have gone anywhere, there have been many attempts, but, to be honest, it doesn't seem like many people are interested :/

Which brings me to my main question: why don't we see more creators band together to make full games in LBP, and is there a chance that more people will try to do so in LBP2?

By now, most people will have lost the excitement of creating in LBP1.

But after fiddling with all the new tools for 24 hours straight, I'd probably start to work on a collaborative project in LBP2.

And I point you to AmazingFlyingPoo. Go play his series. And love it's epic story.
Or CaptainCowboyhats and his series for a more gameplay based experience.
There are a few other ones too, but I don't feel like turning on my PS3 to find out who created them.
Point is. They are out there. You just gotta search

Well the simple answer for me is that online create just doesn't work. As I have a slow connection, which cannot be changed, online create is impossible due to terrible lag. I can't even invite people or join them in create just to help out for a bit because it's just hopeless. That's the reason I have to make everything in my levels on my own.2010-08-01 15:43:00

A group I'm in: Pixel Project Studios, seems like one of the most active groups here and we've started planning a level series. I'm sure we'll go through with it too as a good amount of us are active and willing.2010-08-02 01:25:00

It's not that people don't band together it happens. The problem is that they have real lives and sometimes all of the people in the creating group don't show up so it gets put off until all of them have time until slowly it just starts to go away.....yeah At least that's what I think happens.2010-08-02 01:44:00

Ther more something is long, complex, demanding or the more organisation it needs, the less you will see that something happen. It's that simple.
Since a series of level is complicated and needs organisation to a certain extent, only a small portions of users will do that.

I've found a lot of series out there, only one I can remember though is,"Sack, The Legendary" which was long, but fun.2010-08-02 04:06:00

Another problem is that you can't chain levels together as well a Mm did in the story levels. You also can't save different games which makes it hard to find where you left of when you come back to it. Of course all that will change with LBP2!2010-08-04 16:19:00

Well, either twice or 3 times LittleBigNetwork has tried to make a level series. First try got quite far but the leader left and the rest disbanded.
The other time(s) I led it at first, but stepped down as I knew I couldn't get on the PS3 enough to be much help. I was later kicked from the project, even though I had made the whole story...

So... I hope it will be easier to band together and make something wonderful in LBP2.
