Little Big Animal Crossing

Archive: 8 posts

I'm pretty sure you can guess what this is about by reading the title. If anyone has ever played the Animal Crossing games, it's a sort of life-simulation thing. You play as your own little character, getting money, buying clothes and furniture, helping neighbors, and upgrading your town.

What I wanna do is re-create that in LBP2. You start off as a Sackbot with poor clothes and little money. As you progress more through the game, you have options to add better clothes or upgrade town buildings. I'm sure LBP2 will have the logic available for all the customization, and if not, let's hope they add more in the future, with patches or DLC.

I'd wanna base it around the story for Animal Crossing: Wild World. I'm not sure how it would work if was more than one player though. :/

So, thoughts, comments, questions, concerns?

Hm... Well, I love the idea, but you'd have to change it a LOT.

Like the real time clock thing is an obvious no.

I wonder if there will be a way to save progress in levels, like a cookie setting for switches... Otherwise the level would be kinda hard.

And there should be some way to obtain said furniture and clothes...

Maybe you could make other levels besides your town, so you can go into them and do some platforming/ exploring to find various furniture and clothes and stuff for the museum... Nothing too hard, those levels would be based off exploring just so you could find new stuff for your town...

Not too sure how or even if it's possible in LBP2, but I hope it is because it sounds really cool. :kz:

True, I mean, it wouldn't be EXACTLY like AC, but I could keep the same general idea.

Like a director from The Sims once said "You can have a copy of your wedding ring, but even that copy is just as important, as the meaning expressed is just as well"..
(Or something like that)

Yeah, if I'm going along with this, I'm using that level badge/teleporter to go straight to the next level/part of town.

Thanks for your ideas/concerns.

If you want to be able to save your progress you could try to implement a code type system. Basically depending on what's been done you enter a certain code. Like say the store is upgraded to the fullest and you have a two story house you could have some code show up before finishing and then when you return enter that and the town will be set to what it was

But that might take a while and need loads of testing to ensure it works properly.

For the level saving i imagine it would work like this: Depending on the progress you make in a level, a certain amount of switches are pressed, these switches can be reset. Whenever you save your level a sticker is generated to bring the switch set back to the way it was.2010-07-31 20:03:00

This'll be great if you can pull it off!
I'm assuming you will use a top-down view?

Well... i've been thinking about saving the progress and stuff..( i really hope theres a switch that you can use or something )
BUT, if there isn't any... you could use STICKERS! Like this: sackboy played a RPG level and leveled up to level 3. sackboy gets a sticker which says "level 3"... in the begging of the level theres a special place that you can place your sticker, then the level will warp you to where you were... ( i hope somebody understands what i mean XD )

Oh... i didn't notice that i was the only one with this idea... sorry
(i must read all post before i reply :/ )
