Want to make your level memorable? One way to leave a lasting impression is by spicing up your scoreboard with exquisite visuals or presenting it in novel and interesting ways. After all, this is the pedestal players stand proudly on, where an overwhelming sense of accomplishment culminates, where their PSN gleams and rises above all others.

They can look so divine that you ascend to gamers' heaven like in Botafumeiro by salieri/SalieriAAX:

For this challenge, we ask you to design a scoreboard that is so mind-blowingly awesome that it gets etched into our memories for a very long time. Go big and be original: that's how to score in this contest!


The Rules


You may use any material or sticker to decorate and/or construct your scoreboard designs, including those from DLC.
You may submit your scoreboard entry as part of a full level that has not been previously published. However, a full level is NOT required. If part of a full level, only the scoreboard area and objects attached to it will be considered for judging.
You can submit as many scoreboards as you can produce within the given time period.
Participants cannot win twice in a row, but winners of the previous round may submit entries for fun.
Judges may participate in the contest but are ineligible to claim the prize.
Participating levels must be posted on this thread by the deadline (see below). Please provide your PSN username and level title on your entry post.
If you're not sure what to name your level, call it 'LBPC Scoreboard Contest'. Otherwise the title is up to you!
By posting your scoreboard on this thread, you agree to the fine print stated below.

The deadline for this contest is 27 August 2010 at 11:59 PM GMT. Late Scoreboards will not be crossed.

If I can get a downloadable version of lbp, I will enter. My psp's umd reader is cursed and will never read umds ever again. *Cough*I knew I should of gotten a GO*Cough*

Without lbp I have had a ton of ideas flowing through my head and some of them are for decorating scoreboards.

I also have brilliant ideas for levels and vehicles.

It's great to see all the excitement around here.


a few questions! the dlc prize, how dose that work? can you send them to nz?

Unfortunately, the DLC prize only applies to those registered in the NA region. This is coming out of my own pocket, and I purchase the codes off of Amazon. To the best of my knowledge, these codes only work for the NA region, which includes US and Canada. Sorry.

There are still other great prize options though.


oh and what kind of bonus features do you get with one free membership month?Perhaps the best feature, at least for me, is getting rid of the ads. Another great feature is the ability to see invisible people. No, not in real life, but invisible members in the forum. Hehe. You know exactly who's online and where they are so you can stalk them better. Just kidding. This is useful for when you want to exchange levels discreetly with someone else.

Hmm. What else? Well, I'm not sure if these are already included in the profile upgrades, but your avatar space becomes bigger, you can use animated avatars, you get to customize your title, use font type, size, and color on your signature, and a whole bunch more perks! Best of all, you get to support the best LBP site ever!


oooooh and what kind of things can you buy with exp at the lbpc store?Let's see if I remember. You see where your trophies are displayed now? This used to be a space where you can display "stickers" you buy at the store--small square icons with different pictures of sack people or other video game characters/objects--or for a heftier price, bundles that give you more features on the site like those that come with donor status. However, we now have a new version of vBulletin, so we may get new stuff in the store.

Sketch is right here again. Unfortunately, a full level will NOT give you an advantage over others because it wouldn't be fair. We only gave this option because we wanted these awesome scoreboards to be put to good use.

Nope, not at all. As I said before, the only reason we allow full levels is because we wanted these awesome scoreboards to be put to good use. However, only the scoreboard will be judged, so a level with only a scoreboard still qualifies.


I'm thinking I may just enter! I don't know, though; I'm not the best with visuals, which seems to be what this is focusing on...

Visuals aren't everything you know. Being innovative doesn't have to look good. If you look at Lleonard's scoreboard, it's pretty plain visually but it was one of the first times I've ever seen an upside down scoreboard, and the floating effect complimented the theme very well.

I have now 1 problem. I almost finished my level and i tested it, but when i went to edit the psp turned off. I didint play psp for 3 hours and then i went again play LBP PSP and again it turned off in the same part. I tried 6 times nothing didint work. i cant play it or edit it. It was my biggest level yet. Thank you for the kind words.

As for secrets, well, I don't have any that you don't already know. I'm not invincible to corrupt data, and I get the red screen of death a lot when making really complex shapes with a lot of vertices.

However, I have two weapons that have always came to the rescue when I needed them. First, I backup my entire profile before each long session of creating by following these simple steps here (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=19461-The-corrupt-profile-thread-%28Back-up-your-data-NOW%21%29). This can get tedious, so if I feel lazy, I merely backup my level by making a lot of copies on my moon like Taffey suggested here (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=23990-The-corrupt-*level*-thread-%28Copy-your-creations-and-don-t-lose-your-work%21%29). I usually make copies after I finish a section or making an object I can't bear to recreate again should it corrupt.

Lastly, you can also do an online backup as suggested by The Forgotten here (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=27969-Online-Backup%21-sort-of). Other than those strategies, you just need to be passionate and patient with your level, and you'll be publishing beautiful artworks too in no time! Good luck, and remember to backup in any of the three ways listed here. The more, the merrier.

Not only will this make the corner editor easier to work with, but it also gives you finer control over the detail. Once you're done you can shrink it down and it will look really detailed.

Just in case you aren't already doing it, stop work every 30 minutes and place a copy of your level in a different crater of My Moon. At least once every day or two make sure to back up your entire profile via USB cable on your computer.

Encompassing is easier then it seems, (I was screwing around with corner editing and accidentally did that) but the REAL hard part is getting to perfectly encompass it like The Nerd did and encompassing the bottom. (good job )2010-08-29 06:04:00

To clarify things, the judges and I were busy on another project, so this one slipped by us by accident.

As for releasing our results, we feel it is best not to. Some may not take our scores too kindly, so there's no reason why we should release them at all.
