****, I hate it when i'm trying to listen to the radio and that happens! But anyway your level was pretty fun for a disaster level. Stuff fell apart and blew up real nice! Ok, feedback time! (please ignore any typos, I jsut woke up ) Gameplay I really enjoyed the gameplay in this level. I was actually quite surprised how little platforming there was in it, when usually your levels tend to be platformers. But I think that you must've worked really hard on this new genre, and you've mastered it perfectly. I loved how the fire obstacles were actually bits of glass, but they still burnt you, I had absoloutely no idea how that was done! It was fantastic, and really original! The chase scene with the explosion was also fantastic and I really enjoyed it Visuals Again, your classic 'cartoony' visulas were absent, and instead you focused on making it relastic, to great success! (I'd just like to quickly take this time to congratulate you on your excellent change of style, you really are very versatile ) Anyway, the lighting was, as always, fantastic! Morgana would be proud The slight red wash really conveyed the 'disaster' theme you were going for. All the explosions were nicely timed and looked great in the final product. Okay, I played it and here's what i thought The Good, -------------- 1. Amazing detail and I just love the scenery 2. Explosions were top notch and I love how they affected everything like making things flip in the air, sink in the ground or just explode into different parts 3. I loved the glass fire, haven't seen that in a lot of other levels 4. Although a bit challenging, the gameplay was great and I had a lot of fun 5. Nice boss fight, not too unique but still fun. The Bad, ------------- 1. It took me while to find out there was a button on the car that pushes you up to the other platform like in the story mode. Played this the other night and really liked it! You have a flair for the dramatic in this level and that opening is full of "what the heck is going on out there" tension. The lamp falling on the floor was a nice detail. I loved the orange lighting but the ash is an especially nice touch. Found the platforming to be pretty easy, the exception being the car hood and the chase scene. Those are a little tricky but two harder things in an otherwise easy level doesn't bother me at all. Love the explosion of the plane.... great effects! The bus is a really nice set piece too. So ya, great visuals, easy platforming, fun to play. I like it Wish there were a little more to do and it was a bit longer but thermo prevents this I'm sure. Well now that I reached the scoreboard, I'll comment. This level seems like a real departure for you... no cartoony... nothing, no real odd landscaping... I liked it so much I instantly wanted to rush out to my moon and develope my own end of days level... butt, plug away as I might-- the only name I can come away with is 'The **** HOUR'... which I think might be banned in several countries. So i like the mystery, general lack of a story. I like the opening, the 'R1' door, the lamp, the rocker box, the invisible checkpoints. The platforming is just ok (again, unusual for you). What is phenomenal is the set pieces! The telephone poles, the transformers, jet engines, rooftop compressor units, cars, trolley/bus, tanker... incredible builds... I had a little plane shifting problems this play through that I didn't on the beta... and early on after something explodes outside the apartment complex I ran into some invisible fire... but not on my second play-through. I can still not navigate the chase, not one bit, but have decided that bit may be on me! All in all a terrorific set piece with oddles of atmosphere... that definitely had me wondering aloud... Really cool level Joey! Sort of another take on an early level by you and much improved! I have to agree with Morgana that I do like quite a bit of your stuff in this, however I wish there was a bit more detail as well as things to do. Though the ending bit probably killed your thermo as well as tons of corners throughout the level. I'd love to see what you would end up with if you took your time and spent a month or two rather than popping it out the door. Still a brilliantly done level though. Fire-riffic. What was the fire at the end made of? That torch decoration? And was it emitted for each step? Why didn't you go for a piston with a bit of wobble? Not so much gameplay, but cool visuals and nice effects. I liked the detail for the exposed wires on the telephone pole. I'm sure there were many other little things like that that I missed too. What can I say? Joey you're an amazing special effects maker. Every level you make has its own mood, it's own style. I really liked this one because its different from your other levels, it has this realistic yet surreal setting. Another awesome level Joey. It's not quite as great as "The Lost Planets: Red Zone", but the fire designs are brilliant and the apocalyptic atmosphere is exhilarating. Hello joey, I played our level ahwile ago and I forgot to give feedback. : Here I go... The post apocalyptic feel of this level is maintained with the slight MM style of challenges. Swinging from fallen buildings, dodging explosions, and manuvering tricky landscapes is the name of the game here, and it certainly doesnt dissapoint. The obstacles are persistant throughout the level, which gives the strong feeling of navigating a destroyed city. Visuals were a unique style of half realistic and half craft world-ish (is that a word? ) Anyway, this is a top notch level, if your looking for hectic fun, with some unique visuals, check this one out follks!
