Hi pickled! I played the level and here is what I think:
Good:
+Story: You keep it on with those diary pages and in the end...? of the level the mask tells you clearly what happened to Kurtz.
+Puzzle gameplay was satisfying. They were a little complicated, but easy to understand.
+level outfit: It looks much more complicated than it is. At the water part I kinda wondered around and suddenly found myself in the right place.
Bad:
-Visuals were still not very good but much better than in puzzle garden.
-I was unable to finish level. In part where mask tells you how Kurtz ''died'' in the temple'' and there were those pieces of cardboard on the water and then few on higher round I couldnt get forward.
Critic: :star::star::star: You should change that part. If I would have finished it would have been 4.

Rise of the machines, Austimerr: beware!!
Just had some free time on my hands, so I could get some work done ;-)

Glad you liked the story, FreeAim.
A waterswitch strangely malfunctioned when I republished (after only correcting a spelling mistake!)
Machines can't be trusted...

I just fixed the switch, so if you've got the time, please try again and hopefully enjoy the ending.

Hey punk! I received your message, but didn't have a chance to play your new level before I had to leave for work this morning. I'll give you my feedback this evening.2010-07-27 17:50:00

Positives:
Still love your ideas and apparent never ending ability to come up with new platforming/puzzle ideas. I love the music you've selected and the mosiac materials. I liked how you had some paths in the back layer to move through areas that you started in. I got a kick out of the the rotating masks and the crushed skeleton. Nice use of the cartoon box material in the sanctuary! I really like your story telling as well.

Suggestions.
I think I would have liked the overall aesthetics if you had done a little more corner editing to get "off the grid", from a terrain perspective it feels like you took a step back. Did you intend to leave the piston visible in the spike block in the first water area? In the area where you have to set three sponges on a bridge, there is a sponge on a chain to take you up. I inadvertently got it stuck on the low platform at the top. I had to pop myself to get to the checkpoint. I wonder if you could add an object to prevent the sponge from getting onto the platform.

Puzzles/gameplay :star::star::star::star:
Terrain :star::star:
Story :star::star::star::star:
Music/effects :star::star::star::star:

Overall I gave it :star::star::star::star: another solid effort, but I would have liked it better if you spent a little more time tweaking the terrain.

Thanks for the feedback, Rohar. Good you liked it!

The straight angles in this level were probably a subconsious reaction to all the crumbling & crooked spires and ruins I did in Fabul.
I like to keep experimenting. I'm starting on a crowded bazaar for the next level (6A. Night Market), and I'm trying out some material-combinations for the level after that. (7A. The Secret Workshop of Master Origami)

The graphics really need improving. The characters were a bit basic and I'm sure you could've made custom masks. In the pictures which tell you about Kurtz and stuff, instead of using stickers, you could've built the scene then taken a picture of it. The scenery was very square-ish. You could've added pillars, made parts look crumbled, added vines and moss, etc.

The gameplay was a bit plain, and it was very unclear what you had to do. A tip is to activate a magic mouth cutscene when a door or something opens far away.

The story was good though. I liked the little twist.

Thanks for the feedback, Paddy.

Actually I thought the gameplay in this one was rather straightforward...

Hey pickled. It's me again. I just thought I'd take a wack at this level. So starting off I can tell this level has great level design. The puzzles so far aren't too hard or too easy. I really like the windows. You could add some sound effect here and there for switches. The masks are reaaaaally eerie. Ugh, I got to the water part and I couldn't figure out where to put the sponge. I thought I had to backtrack with it but ended up getting stuck at the block with the spikes and breaking it. I was pretty sure I had to restart the level, and I did. Playing it through the second time now, and through some insight, I managed to figure out the puzzle. It was really tricky... probably because I wasn't expecting something as tricky as that . I got to Mr.Kurtz and I have to say that's pretty awesome lol. Oh my god. I totally LOVE the part where u have to stand on that big sponge to get the smaller sponge down. That's geniussssssssssss. Love the story/pictures at the end. Aw, is that the end of the series? Well, that was awesome. 5/5 and a heart for the brilliant puzzles and story!2010-07-31 03:32:00

Nice Level, I liked the lighting but I don't really like your choice of material in the blue/green stone.F4F in signature.2010-07-31 15:06:00

Thanks, MrTran. Good you enjoyed yourself.

Very good ideas. I'll be adding some more sound effects. Also add another clue on the underwater-puzzle, it's probably to subtle as is.

Geniussss.... I like the sound of that

Rest assured, the end of the series is nowhere in sight. At the moment I'm doing the alternative path, if you choose to follow Master Origami in 'Drones of Genius Loci'. That route runs along the busy bazaar of the Night Market, which I'm working on now.
I crave more characters after all these eerie & forlorn places. (And I'll be sure to hide some talking mushrooms in there.)

The level could use more visual boost by adding color stickers to some jade stone materials since the level is completely filled with it but it's an interesting level. Got stuck on the underwater puzzle part where you rise and lower the water because the box blocks the button switch. I may not be able to finish this level but I gave it 4 stars.

Hi JustinArt, thanks for the comment. I?ll check out your level soon.

The second waterpuzzle is really not that hard.
SPOILER. Look for the switch on the right to lower the water again.

Hey bud, nice level. The best part was the puzzles, very fun. Worst part was probably the initial visuals... imo those materials were not so pretty for you level. I liked the visuals much more toward the end. Overall fun temple level...4/5!2010-08-07 01:00:00

Thanks Lockstitch.
I know what you mean with the jade materials, I'm rather ambivalent about them myself. (I really like the way how the material changes colour when you light it, but I hate the fact that you can't get a nice effect when stickering it. Just doesn't work in my opinion.) I'll play around with the lighting some more.

Great you liked the puzzles.

Just tried this out, very creative to say the least. My only main gripe is that the biggest challenge of the level comes out of the design, it's kind of hard to see where to go when everything is the same color. That might be more LBP's fault than yours though, there's no depth to anything in the engine. Poop.

Aside from that, the challenges were nicely put together and I love the mask on eye effect, I actually had wanted to use that in my latest level but decided against it.

I just wish there was a little more... pizazz?
