Shoot it out with your friends in this unique take on paintball. For 2-4 players, each team shoots at his opponents coloured blocks, whilst trying to protect there own. Cower behind cover, or stand on the front line all guns blazing? The choice is yours...
Hi everybody, thanks for reading this!

This was the first level to come from The Shed which focused on a level with a lot of logic. I'd just got the paintball gun off the MGS pack, and was raring to go! At first I thought about a deathmatch style paintball shoot-out level, but quickly realised that this was completely impossible (but I bet I can do that in LBP2 !! ), and so decided to try out a points based system, in that when one of your blocks was destroyed, you gained a point, and at a certain amount of points, you lose, and the opponent wins. So I set out to do just this.

The first incarnation was a sketchy, cardboard filled, no frills, paintball shoot-out, and I was very pleased with the results, and my brother and I played it for hours on end, hurling abuse at each other (stuff along the line of: 'Eat paint, and here's a side-order of PAIN!'; 'Take this, and that, and one of these, and THIS!'; 'DIE! DIE! DIE! ' ), mashing the R1 button 'till it stuck, howling with glee at a victory, crying with shame at a defeat... Ahhh... Good times ...

For the second incarnation I decided I really needed to revamp the whole style. I played around with all the materials in my popit, trawled through the stickers, played with decorations, and even considered adding water to it at one point. It was during this time that I decided to add the cover blocks, that also serve as points, to add an element of 'cower or fire'. These worked well, and I went with a bunker type look, with bullet-hole riddled walls, and warning signs on the walls. Looked good, worked well, and I was chuffed .

After a few updates over the next weeks working out a few kinks, I decided to completely change the style. I got rid of the bunker wall paper, and instead opted for a metal and that-light-up-metal-from-VR-training (you know the one that I mean, don't you?) look instead. Loved it, loved it, loved it!

After playing Poms' Bunker II, and seeing teleports for the first time, I made a workshop and played with the idea for a bit, before finally implementing them into Paintball Arena. Worked like a charm ^^

308 plays, 15 <3 , 4 :star: . My most played level and my favourite, but something was missing. What was it, WHAT? Oh yeah! Flashing lights! I added them, and then completely changed the entire logic system, just for kicks , and I knew it was complete, for the time being. A touch of 3D and plenty of photo booths, but still something is missing but what is it this time? Only time will tell... Well, that and a rummage around The Shed...

Rummage over, and I found some interesting nik naks, Mmmm... *chomp* Cheesy.... I also found some cool ideas for Paintball arena. You've probably noticed that I've changed the name to 'Paintball arena V1: Original Deathmatch' , this is because I have a second version published! *cheers* The second one is 'Paintball arena V2: Bunker Storm' and incorporates a paint bazooka thing (still looking for a name for it, ideas below please!) that adds a nice element of choice to the game, either concentrate on the moving bazooka switch, or hit your enemy whilst there distracted? Hmmm.... And I've also added a few secret point bubbles to the levels, but I won't say how to get 'em ^^. All I'm saying is Green box; Sticker; Second plain, Got it?

I will be making a V3 version, thanks to Lockstitch (see below), and I'll tell you all when I get it up and running. Right, now to work out the logic....

Please feel free to leave any feedback if you think something is missing, 'cause I'm sure there is!

Thanks for reading this to the end, and enjoy the level ^^

This level looks awesome, can't wait to play it. I always love a good multiplayer level, where my friends and I can goof off...2010-07-26 22:20:00

Multiplayer levels that are competetive are interesting to me. This level obviously has potential to be really fun if its what you like. Reminded me of a fusion frenzy type game. One thing i thought of was that it would've been cool if you had multiple rooms, and like a best outta three finish. Overall 4/5 for the idea that you went for!2010-07-29 16:52:00

Nice idea Lockstitch, but I don't think I'll incorporate it into Original Deathmatch, rather incorporate it into a Paintball arena V3. Thanks a ton ^^
