Mr. Pollock's Dreamdr_murk
file:///F:/PICTURE/A%20Photo_1.jpgMr. Pollock's Dream is a level that looks different every time you play it! The art style changes based upon the color of your paint balls. It sounds odd, but it makes perfect sense once you start playing it! Using the paintinator as a physical flashlight, you must find where you need to get to before you actually get there! Screen shots make this more clear. Its a fairly difficult level and takes around 5 to 8 minutes to complete depending on your skill level. Enjoy!

Beautiful. I really enjoyed the level. It looked really nice with the blue paint, too, lol. It wasn't too difficult, and at first when I found the first of the four buttons I thought it was just a hidden treat or something. Still, it's pretty much perfect for what it is.

Thank you Force Ten!!

Its not supposed to be too deep of a level. It is simplistic, but i really like the look of it (especially when you have two people with different colored paint playing).

Seeing as you thought that 4 way point was a treat and not part of the actual level, do you think there is some text I could add to help people out?

Also, did you have hints on or off?

Very nice!

i found this to be kinda hard, - maybe i should've selected hints (i appreciate that though!) some of it seemed to be trial and error, run along paint some areas and miss a block above me jump hit my head and fall to my doom! - very creative, the dark and light mixed with the paint gave a great dynamic effect! really enjoyed it, - got frustrated on some of the spinning block though, made it to the end! was great. ..:star::star::star::star::star:

I had hints off, but I also think you shouldn't really add any text to that part, seeing as there's probably hints for that section anyway with hints enabled.

Thanks for all the feedback guys! Im thinking of making a sequel, that takes place in a cave or something. Might be cool. But in the mean time, im hoping more people play this. Im bumping this up cause so far, everybody who's played it has really liked it, and i want more people to be able to find and enjoy it.2010-07-30 19:25:00

I really liked the concept of finding the route in which you must take; it was a lot of fun. My favorite platforming part would've been the L shaped blocks that rotate when you shoot them. I didn't find anything wrong with the level, and I enjoyed the challenge that it provided. Well I take that back, one thing which I think could be improved is the timing of your moving platforms that take you from place to place in the green light searching part; the platforms just don't seem to be in sync with each other unless you wanted the player to have to wait to make a tricky jump, then by all means keep it that way. I was just unsure whether or not the odd timing was purposeful or not. Anyway, really great level, 4/5 and a heart.2010-08-28 19:21:00

Actually, the purpose was for the platform to not start moving until they were shot. It makes it a little easier for the players to find them. The ones that you have to jump from one to another are intentionally set to different times so that players can't break the level by having them perpetually too far apart. I hope that makes sense,2010-08-28 19:48:00

You can still make this thread an F4F! Just edit your Original Post, and you'll see an option to make it F4F!

This level has my interest. I do not have the ability to play levels online at this time, but I'll be definitely checking this out!

I really enjoyed the visuals of this level and the platforming was really nicely done. My only complaint would be the length and the 4 paths... From the text is sounds like an extra challenge not a requirement "can you get all 4" makes it feel like its offering you to try, not telling you you need to.
Other then that very well put together 4/5 stars.

Wow, I just had a look at your screenshots. Very original idea. Like Laharl, my PS3 is AWOL, so I'll give this a look when I finally get it back.
First impression, very cool. (Here's an idea, perhaps you could make a section where you needed to grab a rotating platform of something to get to a switch to start something else. Forcing the player to scan ahead for where to go and leave his paintinator behind for a moment).

Played your level a while back and didn't comment. >.< Well here it is now!

Pros
- The paintinator usage to reveal platforms is a neat way to play through the level.
- The platforming was handled quite nicely and made me smile a few times.

Cons
- It was very repetitive. I found myself spraying my paint gun and awful lot instead of actual platforming. I suggest maybe incorporating some basic platforming in the level as well that doesn't require the paint gun. I know there were some parts where we lacked the paint gun and had to platform a bit, but it wasn't enough to keep me away from the monotony of pressing R1 as fast as I can. xD

Overall it was a great level and I have to say that it's neat how the level looks different depending on your popit color. xD I just find that interesting.
:star::star::star::star:! Can't wait to see more platformers from you in the future!

F4F is in my sig. :3

I apologize to all of you for not immediately fulfilling my F4F promise. I'm moving in to college tomorrow, and have been wicked busy lately. I'll get to them as soon as possible.2010-09-04 15:41:00

Pros:
-Creative Concept
-Challenging
-Simple
-Fun

Cons:
-The 4 spinning platforms towards the end were crooked (idk if you meant for that or not.. but usually that happens because the game glitches)
-You made me decorate the level for you... you lazy @$$ lol
-I like the concept of having basic shapes, but i think if you made your own custom shapes, the level would be even better

Overall Score::star::star::star::star::star: <3

I love this concept! Gave it a full rating and hearted it, too. I honestly can't suggest anything because the level is such an elegant idea, I can't find any flaws. Platforming is good, music is appropriate, visuals are great just because of the whole paint-to-find-your-way concept. The only suggestion I can make is: please do a sequel!

I just played your level.

It is a great idea which i have never seen before in that way. using the paintballs as a kind of light or marker. Great idea.
Just shoot around and watch what you'll see
I like the gameplay a lot. Not too hard but still hard enough .

I have nothing bad to say. maybe the music doesn't really fit the atmosphere but that's not too important.

5 stars and a heart from me
