LBP2 Coming to the EuroGamer Expo

Archive: 317 posts

It has just been confirmed via @MediaMolecule's (http://twitter.com/mediamolecule) twitter account that they will be at the Expo. For all of you waiting on UK LBP2 CE I am speculating that this is why and your announcement will come when they are there or for some sort of lead-in to the Expo since it is in October which is a good distance off.

Confirmed, LBP2 will be at the @eurogamer_expo in London this October, and so will we. Which day? Probably all of them More details soon.

If that's the case, we have to wait untill October to even hear anything about it? Geez, so much for pre-orders. By the time we hear anything the game is almost released.2010-07-26 19:39:00

I'd love to go down and see the Molecules, but it's in London, and nobody in my family really cares about games, so they'd not take me (I'm 16, so no car)

Ah well. Hope you guys have a good time that go

So, is this leaked info, that "Yes, you ARE getting a CE."?
Or is it just that you're hoping along side of us that we're getting one?

I might go by train (If my mum lets me (wish me luck D: )) but the ticket prices are confusing, The more days you spend there the less money it costs!?

Oh yeah and will we be able to acctually play lbp2 there?, if so im there!!!

Doesn't look like it from what I can see, discounts aren't based on the number days you attend they're based on the number of tickets you buy.

To be honest we should get a CE because LittleBigPlanet 1 and 2 are both made in England, why the hell do they announce CE in America first. And another thing....Why the hell do they have their freaking release date and we don't!!!!!(does Europe have a release date yet because I've been searching all over for one) I mean yeah they're going get more sales in America but surely they should put their country before their profit.(:L)2010-07-27 17:17:00

Sony is the publisher.
If Sony decides it's not cost-efficient to release the Collector's Edition in Europe then we're **** out of luck.
Hell, Sony could decide it's not cost-efficient to release the game itself in Europe, and there's nothing we can do about it. (Besides import, but then you'd have troubles with the DLC...)

Also, last I heard, Europe is actually a bigger (or a faster growing. One or the other...) market than the US.

The reason why these things usually pass us by, is because publishers find the logistics a hassle.
Which should be a ******** reason, since 51 States plus another country (Canada, IF they don't get screwed out of this as well...) should be more of a hassle than 27 members, but I can kinda see where they're coming from. I still find it one of the stupidest reasons to mention, though.

EDIT: But, despite me having started shouting at Sony, I'm going to be more positive from now on.
LBP2 is huge. Sony wants my money. I'm sure they'll work it out.

'Sony' does not exist.

SCE is made of regional companies. SCEA SCEE, etc.

SCEE Sony computer entertainment Europe owns MM and LBP...

... so, you guys still don't consider Iraq the 51st state?
Huh. My bad!

EDIT: Okay, so after checking some facts, I realized where I went wrong.
I counted Washington DC as well.

EDIT2: As for Fishrock: I know that. Sony is easier to remember.

No but we have militant control over Puerto Rico and drove their economy into the ground by bringing in big businesses like wal-mart so the farmers have trouble selling crops, and stole their farmland to sell crops back to ourselves for cheap so they have nowheres to plant. We also rigged their government and have riot police shoot live ammo at them if they ever say anything the fat cats in D.C don't like. If thats any better for you.

"If you appear to be under 15 you will be asked to provide photographic ID when collecting your entrance band." I think you would have to look quite a bit older than 15 to be sure. You don't want to buy a ticket and then be turned away at the entrance.

I think I will bring my passport with me at all times... Just in case. Most people thinks that I am in 10th grade (Well, I start this year, but when I was in 9th grade everybody who did not know me thought that), so I think I will be able to enter
I am currently going to get my parents order flight tickets and etc by this or next day I hope, and then get my tickets for Eurogamer. So I will go, as long as they tickets are not sold out.
...
So who is going now? A list maybe? Allright, I will make one ...
-Me (ticket not ordered yet though)
-Leather-Monkey
-Moleynator
-The Forgotten (maybe)
-Nuclearfish
-Joruto (maybe)
-chimpskylark (at least it looks like it, or hints towards it)
-Coxy224
-Sackcast (consists of... DanC... Who else?)
-GruntosUK (seems like it)
-Jackofcourse
-CrazeAlec (maybe)
-Olit123 (sackcast yes?)
-rtm223 (probably?)
-Mastercreator (asking for information)

The definition of maybe has to do with parents, I think :/

That's all, unless I missed some... Maybe edit this in the thread, or just make a thread for "who is attending?", hmm?

I am taking a plane from Norway to England, which costs e 2000 NOK, which I think now would equal 200 english pounds, for my plane ticket. I am paying for my own ticket, but I still need a parent to accompany me, so either my dad or mom is coming. Plus, they pay for the hotel and etc. And I am also paying for my eurogamer ticket, which I am about to buy soon.

I guess you have to walk then... D: You could also calculate how much fuel you will use by driving, if you have a car and see if that is any cheaper as well. Anyway, good luck!

I guess you have to walk then... D: You could also calculate how much fuel you will use by driving, if you have a car and see if that is any cheaper as well. Anyway, good luck!

Driving to earls court probably isn't too advisable However, if you're coming down the M1, parking up at cockfosters is a good option (just park in the residential area down the road from the station), then it'll just be a zone 1-5 travelcard, which I think is about a fiver.

How quickly do tickets sell out for these things? I haven't decided if I wanna go or not yet.....

If it's anything like PAX or PAX East, you should make sure you have tickets at least a month in advance.

?20 !! How the ****.

I've spent the last 3 days searching the net for travel options from where I live to Earls court and the cheapest train fare I've found is ?113 and that involves 3 changes of train, doesn't depart from my local station which would mean getting a taxi to chesterfield, and goes to St.Pancras ! No idea how to get to Earls court from there.

I don't know how people find cheap travel on the net, I can't get anything. Anyway it looks like you can count me out. The cost of getting there to 'possibly' play LBP2 for 10 minutes just isn't worth it as I have no interest at all in any other game that may or may not be there.

I guess I'll just have to wait for release and save up some money for the game and DLC.

St Pancras is right next to Kings Cross Mr Vista

I'd have a look around again, try the east coast trains (I forget the name but it does have east coast in it I think), I'm going to London this weekend, booked two days ago, return for ?109 from Newcastle mate. That seems steep one way.

EDIT: Doncaster is the closest station to you it stops at. Try Superbreak.com and thomas cook around here do return train and two nights B&B for ?100, I'd say it should work nationwide??

LOL thanks but I don't know where Kings cross is either. Is that near Earls court ? Anyway there's no way I could afford anywhere near that as I've been unemployed for almost 2 years and I don't get any dole money at all now. They stop it after 6 months so I don't get 1 penny now. If I was working I'd book the weekend as I've actually seen a weekend break staying in a 4 star hotel for 2 nights, including train fare, for ?99 return. ( crazy ain't it? cheaper than train fare on it's own ). I just wish I could afford it.

EDIT : I think I'm a jinx on the net! No wonder I get so many bugs in LBP, I must attract them! I just tried that superbreak.com you mentioned Grant and keep getting: SERVER ERROR- 404 - File or directory not found after I put all the details in the boxes provided.

There's always booking up as a senior citizen, it's worked for me in the past, Eurogamer last year actually when the wife wasn't paying attention to what she was buying

Superbreak is working fine here mate. I don't think you'll get it any less than ?100 TBH mate, unless you go the OAP route

EDIT: the wife says she booked the OAP tickets on Grand Central trains, and they are the cheapest anyway she thinks.

Exactly the same for me! Living the complete opposite side of the country and it only costs me ?20! Though I have to get the train at 6 in the morning. I don't get up for anyone at that time. Like today, my friend came round at 12, I was still in bed, he was outside my bedroom waiting for me to get up and I just ignored him until I could be bothered to move. Anyway, what? Yeh, ?28 to play LBP2 early and meet Mm/ a load of LBPC'ers! Bargain.

@Alexbulluk:
What about all those cheap trains there have been talk about? And I do believe you can drag a parent with you. It is not only LBP that will go on, so maybe something will pick up their interest?

Can you rephrase your question rogar, I am not entirely sure what you are talking about. I assume it has something to do with switches across levels maybe? Or that your progress is saved so you can leave and then come back and continue from where you left?

If so, maybe both. We got the crossing-levels gate already so I do believe with such a thing you should have switches and stuff that go through levels and that rembembers where you were and etc. Not sure though.
My answer is that you got to wait...

No, we don't have those, and furthermore, they would not work. (switches cannot actively transfer data between levels.)

Rogar means like some type of microchip that remembers it's value each time you go to the level, which should be possible, but we don't know if such thing exists yet.
(if such thing does exist, I hope you can link the value to the variable storer to the ones in other levels. What I mean here is that you could give the variable storer a name, and each time it's value is updated, it updates all the variable storer values in your profile.)

Simple version:
You cannot transfer data between levels.
Logic in the level cannot communicate with logic in a different level.
You cannot store data for when the player returns to the level at a later time.

Simpler version:
No change from what we have now.

And I don't expect to see these features added in by release time....

Yeah, that's what I meant. Because Evans claimed it's possible to make RPG's with LBP2, I was sort of expecting a persistency tool. I mean, what self-respecting RPG is finishable in one sitting?

Anyway, I guess we'll have to make do with stickers. Thanks for answering all the same, it was the last remaining mystery for me.

The only logical way to do this is with multiple stickers and switches and a bunch of logic of some sort.

We need a subtle clothing protocol to indicate that we're LBPC goers.

Add to that a tweed jacket and a dickie-bow and I think you are on to a winner.

Maybe add a mini top hat and you would all look like Teebonesy's LBP character.

Oh, thanks JWW, that reference to teebs makes me realise I forgot to add moustaches to the list. Yes, moustaches must be worn by all. Especially by any ladies coming.

Note: a moustache and goatee combo is also acceptable. Full beards are not.

Last year I only heard about the Eurogamer Expo the day it was happening. But I jumped on a train anyway, and managed to buy a ticket at the door without any difficulties.

seeing as you're in London, well.... it might be worth a try, if you didn't have any plans for that day anyway...

Rtm - why not stay in Manchester overnight and get a direct train into London early the next day? They have luggage holding at the expo.

Also... I may need an alternative means of LBPC identification. Growing a beard is prooving difficult for me.

The trouble is the show starts at 11 and the developer session is at 11:30 and the organisers said it takes an hour to disperse the queue so if you're at the back of the queue then you can't get to see the developer session.2010-09-25 15:11:00

Okay, so I've blatantly stolen this from Envisager who made an almost identical one for OPC people (I literally copied and pasted it and changed a few things, so all credit really goes to him).

Eurogamer LBPC Attendees Spreadsheet (https://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?key=0Ar61DDuZmN0AdEVWbzZjTUY5LU9mQjV3TG56VUItY 2c&hl=en&authkey=COycoJ4K)

I've put everyone on from moonwire's list (except those who I'm not sure which day they're going). Names in red aren't confirmed in moonwire's list. Anyone can edit it so just add yourself on.

'How will the queuing work for each game?
For the biggest games there will be queues. Our volunteers will help manage these to make sure people don't hog the systems. We want to strike a balance between getting a good amount of time to play but also making sure everybody gets to play the games they want. We think 20 minutes on a game is about right before moving on.'

Better than nothing, aye?

Am I the only one suspecting we may get the EU CE information (as Spaff previously told us he did not hope it would get to) over there at the developer session on Saturday?

Grant and I will now be there with Spaff and Tom at the LBP2 area for all 3 days so I will look forward to seeing all of you!

Hopefully we'll be able to make some cool things right there and show off some of the new stuff that's possible with the new tools and features

Also, I've joined twitter (simply for something else to play with on my iPhone) so if you are coming and want to give us the heads up that'd be cool username thingy is 'jackobviously'.
*In no way is this an attempt to add to my already massive amount of followers (5)

That whole thing about email MM for extra details seems pretty pointless I emailed them 5 days ago and I've still had no response!2010-09-30 20:06:00

We got an email through today.

Also, there are loads of engineering works on the Underground this weekend and you won't be able to access Earls Court from the district line. You can still get to it by the picadilly line, or by the Kensington Olympia/West Brompton district line loop (at least that's what it looks like), but for any non-Londoners be aware that district loop is infrequent even on weekdays. I have no idea what it is like on weekends. Anyway, like the posters say check your route for distruptions before you go: http://www.tfl.gov.uk/tfl/livetravelnews/realtime/track.aspx?offset=weekend
