PS3 Down Undercjs2370
This is for all those who love the idea of the first zone of LBP PSP getting supersized. After weeks of switching my view between the PSP screen and the Sony Bravia LCD and humiliating myself by learning how to navigate two Popits at the same time, I welcome you to Down Under PS3. As of July 23, Walkabout is online; Search "LBP PSP Level 1: Walkabout" if you're intrugued. Gift of the Grab, Didgeridoo Didgeridon't and maybe Shear Madness on the way soon-ish; I've decided to keep Dreamtime on hold until LBP 2.
Now if only I knew how to work these bloody screenshots...

Wow a most excellent recreation! I've been debating buying a PSP to play these levels, but now I can just wait for your levels. From what I remember from watching this one online your level stays very true to the original PSP. So, overall, to me the only thing really to be scored here is how well you recreated the level acurately...and for that I give you 5/5

I know your not doing F4F, but if you get a chance please try my "A Realm Forgotten" Thanks!

Thx for the feedback, guys - pretty encouraging! I'll be playing around with the Global Lighting tools in the next few, so they won't be as similar to each other as the originals are...
PS. Bruce alone took me 4 hours to create, so I'm not looking forward to making The Mystic that much O_o
PSS. I might update Walkabout so that Bruce's head is attached to his body with the usual Wobble Bolt
PSSS. The Nautical Star will be gifted in the same Prize Bubble in Didgerido Didgeridon't, so the Race Mode in Walkabout will be available when that is published.

Looks cool! I'd like to point out that a remake of 'shear madness' already exists in lbp for the ps3!2010-07-25 17:30:00

WHOOPS! Thanks for that; you probably saved my originality's skin there...
BTW, the reason Wave Goodbye is absent is this:
I never want to look at another shark survival level in my life, so the thought of actually MAKING one was enough to send me into a Sack-coma lol

I played it, and I found it to be very good! It stayed very close to the remake! There were, however, some small parts that didn't relate as much, but overall very well done! 4 stars, can't wait for the next! 2010-07-26 14:29:00

It was a pretty faithful recreation to the original.

Improve:

1. Cutout around Bruces body! I know you're trying to stay true to the original, but you don't have to be lazy like the developers.

2. Some parts were a bit cramped. Parts like the boomerangs at the end of the level, one of them got stuck on Bruce, and the platforms beside the frogs were a bit too close etc. etc.

Thanks again guys! Bear in mind that some things had to be adjusted because PS3 Sackboy is a very different blob of physics compared to PSP Sackboy. @PaddyJ; I dunno, I kinda like the cardboard block that Bruce's body is stuck to. Besides, it's very thermo-friendly and serves as a platform (sometimes there are prize bubbles behind his head).
But I know what you mean by "cramped". By the time I got to the sticker-hungry frog bit, I was oblivious to the tiny-ness of level space left. The bubbles in the boomerangs at the end had to be stuck down most of the time because I couldn't stop them from toppling over. I also cannot, for the life of me, figure out why the first frog's Spring is so stiff! It worked perfectly at one point...
But yeah, physics were a big factor. So when you see how the first pull-down boomerang in Gift of the Grab is made of polysteirene, Just know that I did what I could... lol Thanks for the advice, though! Always appreciated

PS. I'd like to point out that I'm in the middle of Grade 10 exams, so I'll be aiming to publish Gift of the Grab by saturday night (Well, South African night; dunno all the time differences too well). I can't even check how many plays and hearts Walkabout has gotten until Friday...

You should change the name of the thread title to the level name. It's LBP PSP Level 1: Walkabout. If you search PS3 Down Under it doesn't show up.2010-07-31 01:26:00

Hey hey hey woah holy cow. This is the first level I've actually ever finished - let alone published - and freakin' MORGANA25'S PLAYED IT?!?! Wow... Thanks for the honor! BTW it says to search "LBP PSP Level 1: Walkabout" in the thread description; dunno, must not be visible enough.
@Joey: thanks!
@FreeAim: I think it has something to do with the fact that there's a huge Glockenpop-obsessed chunk of people in the PSP community, but I personally enjoy it because it has the best atmos. (plus, as a beginner zone, it blows the King and his budget Gardens out the water lol).
@The nice people that have played Walkabout, who I subsequently like (very much): A humble question, but have you guys been able to spot any of the logic setups and/or spotlights/LED's in the level? I hope not
P.S. All that still has to be done in Gift of the Grab is to make the tortoise Creatures and tweak certain visual elements, including Magic Mouths and Stickers etc. I can tell you now that you'll be playing along to Volver a Comenzar, which is better than Glockenpop, and Rock the Jungle will be the soundtrack to Didgerido Didgeridon't.

Again, wow.

Alright, Gift of the Grab is online. Hope you guys like what I've done with the lighting effects!

That Power Fist Sticker from the Wilderness was a common sight in this level before yesterday, when I Corner Edited myself to near-death making the much better-looking Green Thump Sticker; it's prized just before the end and I hope people will find them useful. Enjoy!
