The gruesome corner editor bug! (suggestion to get this bug fixed)
Archive: 5 posts
I am very fond of my corner editor tool. One of my favourite tool. Could not create properly without it. But it has its flaws. If I am corner editing an object to go edge to edge with a cornerful and pointy object, there might happen a tiny bug which makes me go as crazy as a hungry monkey locked in a cage inside Banana-land. What happens is that when you corner edit your way around the mentioned cornerful and pointy object above (I will call it pointy-shape from now on) you might not be able to move any of the corners anymore. The whole object (from now on irritating shape) you were corner editing is now unable to be edited! One of the corners have somehow got wrong and jammed the irritating shape. There is a way to solve this most of the time, though it can be a pain in the @$S. You have to check every corner and try to pull it in different directions to see if it loosens. If it does, it means you found the jamming corner, and you can continue. If you are unable to find it, you can either scrap the shape and begin from start or find some other way to solve the problem. This does not only happen when you have to corner edit the irritating shape to the pointy shape. It also happens if you place an object inside another. copy the irritating shape and put it into the pointy shape and it might happen as well. Checkpoints are also available to create this big, so you won't be able to corner-edit the irritating object you were dealing with. I hope somebody fixes this bug. Edit: Is there another thread on this? Probably so, I can't possibly be the only one to experience this. | 2010-07-24 12:18:00 Author: moonwire Posts: 1627 |
Press R1 or L1 when you got a corner selected to toggle between corners clockwise/counterclockwise. What helps often is just select the object with the selection tool, more than often the object will jump, meaning that one of the corners got locked inside another objects collision, all you need to do now is place all the corners where you want to again. another way of solving it, a little crude.. yes.. but luos likes it too. Just select the object, press R3 and copy the object, now place it on the same location as it was. this will often cut away some edges of other objects interfering with the corners of the object selected. you can now corner edit again, just make sure you didnt delete something important. there are allways cases where this does not apply, i.e. placing complex objects into the object you want to corner edit. Also, for some reason the Sand material seems more easy to corner lock than other materials. also, when somebody is standing on your object while you corner edit it, you are more than often not able to corner edit the object. This happens a lot when you are working with front layer glitches, your sackboy even in hovermode will fly/hover against it resulting in you not being able to work on the object untill you land near/behind it. Hope that helps! | 2010-07-28 22:29:00 Author: Luos_83 Posts: 2136 |
I don't run into this too often, but it can be annoying. I copy one half into another layer, change material, paste it back on the right layer, then break apart if need be. Kind of hard to explain, I hope you get what I mean, heh. | 2010-07-28 22:39:00 Author: midnight_heist Posts: 2513 |
Yes... I tend to make pointy things, then mold other things around them | 2010-07-31 00:20:00 Author: grayspence Posts: 1990 |
The trick to the corner editor is that when you're nearing a corner (while like...zipping pieces together), the little purple ball will *snap* to the corner you're on. If you fail to do this and then try and keep going, chances are the shape will lock up on you. Just keep snapping to the corners if you want to avoid this problem (it can still happen sometimes even while snapping to the corners, but it's very rare). The only issue I have is when I wrap around some corners to reconnect with the same piece (for like a border) I encounter this glitch where the outside border piece will mold into the inside piece. They're separate pieces of material still, only they both lock up and the outer piece is "inside" the inner piece. | 2010-07-31 04:18:00 Author: AeroForce22 Posts: 392 |
