Now some of you may remember the well though out posts myself and Darth Spartan, Kapbam and Mark D Stroyer (going from memory, so sorry anyone else in that thread) about the major differences between the 360 and the PS3. It was a nice, adult discussion about the pros and cons of each console and the first I've had on the interwebz without fanboyism rearing it's ugly head. Now the one counter argument to my own that I don't remember being brought up at all, (though it is a fair point) is the 360's reliability, or lack thereof. I am on my third 360. It died today, a different fault for me this time, one red light instead of 3, there are workarounds on the net, but this isn't the early 90's. I shouldn't have to be metaphorically blowing into the cartridge every time I want to play, and I certainly shouldn't have to unplug everything and wait 30 minuites to play! I'm lucky, this time, it's still in warranty. But MAN this is getting annoying! So, to continue ceeding to you three, and all the others out there who are all willing to have adult discussions about which console's exclusives are better or is the superior system, I'd say the PS3 has it in spades in the reliability stakes. (Darn thing was supposed to entertain me until LBP arrived!) | 2008-10-14 08:44:00 Author: flakmagnet Posts: 1084 |

(Darn thing was supposed to entertain me until LBP arrived!) I feel your pain man I'm on my 4th 360 My dad's on his 2nd and my sister is on her 2nd But i tell you what, it's all worth it as i've never loved or had more fun on any other console in my life (and i've had them all, trust me i'm 30 and been gaming since i was 5 lol) And to top it off my PS3 has just broke and won't play disks JUST BEFORE THE RELEASE OF MY MOST ANTISIPATED GAME OF ALL TIME LittleBigPlanet So yeah i feel your pain | 2008-10-14 09:18:00 Author: dorien Posts: 2767 |
I'm on my first, had it since release, i don't get it. What did you do to your consoles? The Red Rings don't come from nowhere. You putting it on carpet or something? Don't block the fans and it should be fine. | 2008-10-14 09:22:00 Author: Tomo009 Posts: 274 |
Tomo, You're right, they don't come from nowhere, they come mainly from inferior parts and an unwillingness to recognise there is a problem, (I got the Elite this time and whilst they were upgrading it they should have looked into the reliability). I play mine in a well ventilated area, on a TV unit like most others. There is more than enough room for the console and the power brick to breathe. Yours is still alive through either luck of the draw or not being used as heavily, obviously I don't know which! I just hope that eBay seller with an early release copy of LBP is legit, otherwise my next 10 days are going to crawl. | 2008-10-14 09:31:00 Author: flakmagnet Posts: 1084 |
trust me, it's been used heaps. once I even accidentally left it on while away for a week. I know that they aren't always the sturdiest console but the only stories I've heard of this are on the net. Are our Aussie 360's built superior or something? | 2008-10-14 09:35:00 Author: Tomo009 Posts: 274 |
Tbh I've been through 3 , but I'm a fan of all consoles rather than certain specific ones and would agree that there is positives and negatives of each console. But I do agree with the reliability of the XBOX to be alarming , But hopefully they will work it out they have to. | 2008-10-14 09:41:00 Author: Kyashu Posts: 447 |
Mine's never given me any problems and I've had it for quite some time... Lucky, I guess? | 2008-10-14 13:23:00 Author: aer0blue Posts: 1603 |

Untrue the red rings can come from nowhere, it is hardware failure, not always user's fault, in fact I am waiting on my 4th xbox to come in the mail today my first 2 were dead out of the box and this last one died after 2 1/2 years of careful use. I hope this one will be a little more reliable | 2008-10-14 14:22:00 Author: Jaegernaut Posts: 43 |
