Pro Video Game Trader's Advice Needed!

Archive: 19 posts

Okay, so I'm wanting to to preorder that LBP2 Collector's Edition thing, right...

But that means I need $80! Seeing as I currently have about $3.36 set aside in my old piggy bank for it, I need quite a bit to go...

So what I'm asking is, how much money would about 40 PS2/gamecube games sell for, and where would be the best place to trade 'em in? And would I be able to get cash instead of in-store credit? (Unless they'll be selling the collector's edition in the store, in which case I'll be fine...)

I'm hoping they would be at least a dollar each, seeing as they were a good $60 each when I first got them.

I know the CE was only announced in the US right now, not Cananananada, but it'll probably be the same kinda deal right?

Oh, and what about old PS3/Wii/PSP/DS games, as I'm willing to trade a couple of those too...

GameStop is pretty lame when it comes to buying back sometimes....
Hastings is pretty good but they have their GameStop moments.

I suggest you check around, go to every store and compare pricing maybe? and as for the GC games, i think they should be a lil more than 1 dollar :s

PS3 games may be like 10-20 dollars
Wii games same as PS3
PSP 5-15 dollars, depends
DS same as PSP maybe.

sorry thats all i can say :s

Hope it helped? Ill check around when i go to the store tomorrow to help ya out more :3

Well if you sell around 15
games based on what inanimacy said you should get $80.
I once sold a lot of Xbox games and got 2 DSlites, if that helps.

FYI, selling gets quite less than trading for in-store credit.

Tbh, I would reccomend finding people to sell them to instead, place them at a garage sale or something, and put them at $10 - $20 each (unless they're worth less on the store of course) that should get you the most money for your games.
(PS3 Games should go for about $30, unless they're worth ;less in stores already of course.)

Check Ebay/Amazon Marketplace if the game is worth a resonable amount sell it on one of those you get much more money. Leave trading in for the games that are not valuable enogh to be worth doing a private sale.2010-07-24 08:59:00

I wouldn't recommend you traded anything in personally. I've passed my trading-in days and now it's biting me back because i'm trying to rebuild my game collection. Every game you trade in will have you wanting to play it again at some point.

Are you sure there isn't any other way you could get the money? That's an awful lot of games you're getting rid of just for one.

I was told at gamestop I'd get 10 norwegian kroner for resistance 1. That's around 2 dollars. WOOOO awesome deals.2010-07-24 15:35:00

It all depends on the games, my brother for instance went to trade in a couple of football games and he was offered 90P for both of them collectively. Trading in is a rip off market in all honesty.2010-07-24 15:50:00

To be honest, you probably won't get more than $15 for your collection if you try to sell them to a used games store. Your best bet is to dabble with Ebay if you're comfortable. Otherwise, you'll just have to settle for the $15 and worry about the other $65 between now and November (or whenever they stop selling the CE).

If you were trying to get rid of your PS2 or Gamecube, you might have better luck.

Take out a loan from the International Bank of MomandDad.

Probably because sports games have terrible resale value once the next version is out everyone wants the latest version. I've seen either fifa 08 or 09 going for 98P preowned they're just that worthless to the shop.

Thats true, and its a shame because when you bought it you paid full price, a ?40 game being worth a few pennies a year later. Its ridiculous.

Hmm... IF your never going to use your ps2 anymore (Mines gathering dust) You might want to get rid of that with some games, I remember i sold my wii and about 15 wii games, (some of the were good games, like brawl, and animal crossing) I remember having at least 6-8 bucks left AFTER buying my xbox 360 elite model.

Since the wii is a lot newer than that of a gamecube or a ps2, Im not sure what kind of luck you might have. would reccommend selling your ps2, if your ps3 can play ps2 games... Cause if you have a wii, the wii can play GC games.

BTW, if you have any sly games, DONT SELL THEM! THEY ARE THE GREATEST GAMES ON TEH PS3 EVAR!!!1!

My PS3 can't play PS2 games, and there are a few games I wanna replay sometime. I'm keeping the obviously good games.

I dunno if I should sell my gamecube, since my Wii's lenses don't work very well, and I have a memory card that barely works in the Wii.

Also, I agree about Sly. All 3 are in my keep pile. That's where I got Klaww from.

Depends on the game, thanks to the GC's relative failure some software is hard to find, I bought Twighlight Princess for ?30 and sold it for ?40 and MGS Twin Snakes bought for ?20 sold for ?40.

If you use a site like Ebay you could pretty much get full price on all of them if they're in good condition.
I saw Jedi Knight academy(pc) listed at full price(it was made in 2003) and people were still buying it at that high a price even though it was listed over 40 times..
