Moving a spaceship, logic help

Archive: 1 post

Hey all,

SO I've been working at this for the past three hours. I need a spaceship to do several things:

NOT move until something is grabbed outside of the ship AND not move until everyone is inside. The window should close (piston).

The ship launches up (another piston), moves right for 10-20 seconds (a block car on a dark matter "road"), then lands. The window should open. The players talk to a character, then get back in the spaceship.

The window closes, the spaceship launches up, moves right again, then lands.

Essentially, launch, fly, land, launch, fly, land.

I've been messing around with various logic switches (I'm not bad at it, just need help). Currently, I have an AND switch for the grab and prox sensor, which is then connected to a quick set-reset switch, which should be attached to the up/down piston, and other logic continues to move the ship forward (I already have moving forward figured out, I think).

However, the quick set-reset switch provided in the logic pack needs a button that is automatically pressed, rather than the player pressing it. I can't use magnets or most other switches with the quick set-reset switch.

So I've been considering a different way to do it, but I'm sort of at a loss. I've thought of using a line of emitted magnet keys that only emit after certain things take place, with a magnet switch on the spaceship. When activated, the up/down piston changes direction, and it also moves forward. However, this seems unnecessarily difficult.

SO... any help would be appreciated. Thanks,

Ryhas.

EDIT:

So I figured out a modified OR gate will do the trick. I'm using lots of magnets, as well. Here's what I've got at the moment, in case anyone is curious or wants to do something similar:

3-Input AND Gate - Grab Radio + All in same spot + Grab seat
Permanent Switch
Modified 2-Input OR Gate - The hub/main gate; permanent switch previously is attached to the side that has a dissolveable key (removed when the ship lands) so I can launch the ship again from another AND Gate/Permanent Switch location, which is attached to the other side of the OR Gate
3 Delay switches - Three different timings, one for the window (fast), one for the smoke (medium) and one to get the cart far above to move forward (to the left). At the moment, the window delay switch is attached to a modified (keys are dissolveable) 4-Input OR Gate... just in case I want another input...

The "cart" that drives above everything has two magnets on it, with the keys further down the track. One key is attached to dissolveable material and holds the cart in one place until it's dissolved. The other key is attached to the previously mentioned modified 4-Input OR Gate; when the cart reaches it, it dissolves the input, lowering the spaceship.

These Modified OR Gates work simply because I can repeat the action without jumping through any further hoops. I'm pretty happy with it.
