Fix...the colour Glitch

Archive: 15 posts

Heres an idea for their next patch for LBP

(Sorry if this has been mentioned already)

But they have got to fix that annoying colour glitch, you know what i mean, when you have a large block of material and when you sticker it, the edges start alternating between other stickers in the level.
for example, if your making something like a colourful world, you use lots of colour stickers so lets say your standing on a huge block which is coloured green, and the edges (usually the right hand edge) start alternating between blue, red, purple, etc.

It makes your level lose the look you wanted, and makes, me, annoyed and less likely to finish creating the level (But i'm such a lazy creator) =P

so hopefully Mm will fix this problem, soon, or for LBP2!

Well, first off, I believe it is called the "Sticker Glitch". Second, there are means of avoiding it, just use the search option, you'll most likely find a few threads about that! 2010-07-22 19:29:00

I have encountered this, and I just give a flower (what? Can't use violent language you know ) about the real name, as long as people know what I am talking about.

I had stickered a very rare creature in my level, a strange humanoid thing, when suddenly this happened and the stickers I had made the face of appeared, I was like "Oh flower!!! ( )" And now I am currently trying to fix the different objects.

your obviously using big objects and big stickers. The best way to fix is to use circle colour stickers and place 5 or 6 to fill the material and it should be ok. I have never once encountered this bug when I was creating Colour World 1 - 5.

Well personally I think Colour levels are poor, thats why I deleted mine...

Aren't most of your levels the same survivals like jump for your life and those bomb survivals? No offense.

Oh and if you use circles it will leave an ugly line were you overlapped unless it's the black colour.

I find it helps to break down large areas of a stickered material into smaller sections. You should generally avoid using huge stickers, especially when covering a single piece of material in multiple custom stickers. Large numbers of big custom stickers placed close together in a level will make the issue much more likely to arise, if not inevitable.

A complete rebuild of an affected area (while following the advice above) will normally eliminate the problem entirely. Alternatively, you can often cover up the area by placing objects/scenery in front it, so that it's out of sight and out of mind. If the glitch affects the edges of a thin layer backdrop, as is often the case, you can always corner edit and stretch the length of the material to move the glitchy bit of the sticker behind your foreground scenery. Sometimes a glitchy sticker may correct itself when you take a photo of the affected area. Strange but true.

Anyhow, not all sticker glitches will appear in play mode, so don't assume it's gonna ruin the visuals of your level just because you see it in create mode. In fact, probably only about 10% of glitchy stickers will actually remain messed up in play mode. Also, zooming far out in create mode can create the illusion that your stickers have gone haywire, when they're actually just taking longer to load in because of the panned out view. Take a playtest run through your level to see what's actually problematic and what's not.

this happened to me earlier on today but there is an easy way around it either cover up the areas or if it is the background (as in my level) extend it so the edges can't be seen2010-08-06 20:05:00
