Gravity platforms changing how high can you jump?

Archive: 6 posts

I'm making an anti-gravity belt "powerup" for my new level, that allows you to jump higher on certain spots. To do this, I need one of those "odd gravity" platforms, but with a piston to change wether it's on or not. I know this could be done with some demitter trickery but that would eat too much thermo...

The problem is, I can't remember which one of the rods is supposed to be a piston, is it stiff, the values, etc... I just remember someone saying that he had found a way to turn the platforms on/ off. I did some searching on google and here, but nothing...

Edit: I figured it out. If you wanna know how, it's in post #5.

I'm not absolutely sure about this, but I'm pretty sure the bottom rod/piston is supposed to be loose, and is supposed have a incredibly high/low length, so if you wanted a platform that could change the gravity, just attach a piston that has a high length and a short length, and attach a directional switch to that. Also, make sure the piston is loose.

All of this assumes you already know how to make standard gravity platforms, if you don't just say so and I'll try to find a tutorial.

Warlord mentioned it in his thread (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=16733-Gravity-Manipulation), but my experiment merely resulted in me swimming in the floor.2010-07-22 23:55:00

I made this using a vid on youtube. I made a thin block of darkmatter or another material that can't possibly move. Then I put a block of sponge under it I put 2 stiff pistons set at: min length 10, max 200, stiff, timing 3 secs. Make sure you don't move the platform and don't let it move. Put a rod in between the pistons and set it to stiff and length 5. Then I put 2 strings on the ends of the platfrom and set them to 20 and it worked beautifully for me. But for turning it on and off I'd try using speed on the pistons.2010-07-23 00:26:00

Well I figured it out, but thanks to those who spent time making those answers up.

What I did:
First, I made a standard gravity plaform. In pause mode, I put the "jumping" part of the platform 1 small grid space down, and made 1 small grid-thick line of dissolve on top of it. Then I made a "frame" of sorts, and glued the dissolve into it. Then I moved it back again, and painted both the dissolve and the platform black. While it's true that they glitch and overlap now, it's not enough to give you a boosted jump through the dissolve. Then, when I dissolve the dissolve the platform rejects itself to the normal position, and it looks like absolutely nothing happened, you only jump higher now.

Hope that helps someone in the same situation as me!
