Does anyone else think swinging across a fiery pit using sponge is overused?

There are so many levels that just have a fiery pit or something equally as death inducing with circular sponge hanging above for you to swing across. I think I'll probably get sick of it when the game is out. There are so many other things you could do and yet so many people just do that overused thing. >_<2008-10-14 00:09:00

Not really. So long as that's not your entire level. 2008-10-14 00:10:00

Yeah it's like saying pipes in mario are overused I think. The swinging mechanics are always pretty fun so as Clank said as long as there is other content, I think swinging over a firepit is fine. I think I'd actually kinda miss it if it wasn't in a level 2008-10-14 00:21:00

Hmm, that gives me an idea...

Picture it... one, entire map-wide flaming pit.........

I'm also sick of rocket car levels... so unoriginal :|

Luckily, from what I've seen of Story Mode, circular sponge swings are most common in The Gardens. In The Savannah, you'll see bouncy branches with spinning zebra-patterned sponge on them.

I made a "fire pit" in YouTube - My second level: The Stormy Skies, but there were fire logs blasting out from below (it's over a volcano), and the sponge was on a spring. Not only that, but you have to bounce off of a fire log in order to land safely. A strategy that not many people have put to use: fire bouncing.2008-10-14 00:31:00

Yeah, those round sponge balls on a string over fire...kinda overused. It's kinda odd to walk into a level and run into...those same familiar balls. I've had the idea of using a series of thin foam lines, each small and pretty close together, each one tied together as string, to act as a rope. Then you could do a Donkey Kong-style swinging series. Lower, you've got better momentum but less forgiveness for missing, whereas higher up you can land on higher levels, but won't go as far forward. However, I didn't get the time to delve into create mode nearly much as I'd like in the beta, so I never got to it. It'll be for certain, however.2008-10-14 00:49:00
