Timber Canyon IIVelcroJonze
Welcome back to Timber Canyon.
Hey Guy's, I finished my level today, and published it tonight. Part two in the Timber Canyon series. I used all wood in making the level, except for my grab material, and no stickers. If you have any problems, please let me know.

Thanks!!

EDIT: Here's my feedback buddy!

I have to say and agree with Nuffles, this is your best level by far!
The materials were great! It was great how you changed the material combination, it felt like that feeling you get when go into a baseball stadium and the whole thing just pops out right in front of you.
The intro was awesome! I loved the immense feeling of being shot out of that ditch from the first Timber Canyon, if that was what you were going for, then it was perfect.

You were absolutely a trickster when you used the Tom's third layer glitch. I jumped off and I was wondering what in the world is happening, hahaha! That was great. I saw the lift drop coming as well, but I didn't expect it to snap from the top. The ball thing was cool, I've never seen it. It had me thinking about "Indiana Jones" the whole time. Jonze = Jones?

You're getting more trickier when you hide those bubbles and launchers. Some launchers I saw coming, but I never saw that bubble blaster in the beginning. Maybe because it was hooked to a proximity switch, am I right? Well, I only played through your level once, and I still got the high score. Don't worry, I'll most likely play through it tons of times, after typing this feedback. The ending to the level was great, but did I get stuck in a ditch again?, haha.

You got yourself yet another :star::star::star::star::star: and a <3

Haha! I got first play! Before you even made the thread.

Well, this is your best level in my opinion. Everything is amazing. The gameplay, the visuals, the bubble chains, the secrets, the random launching into the air, the fact that I got to play it first...
I especially liked the use of the 3 layer glitch, although it tricked me into thinking i had a platform to jump on a couple of times, it was cool looking.
The rolling ball part was awesome. Never seen that before. I totally saw the lift drop coming, and I was happy it wasn't the end. The launch at the end was well done.

Overall, great job on another fun platformer.
:star::star::star::star::star: and a <3 for sure.
Edit: Oh yeah if you can I would like some feedback on my new level Ruins and Riches in my sig, thanks.

@ HappyGreenCactus - Hope you like it!

@ The Nerd - Glad you liked it. Hahaha, the Burk glitch was supposed to trick the player into thinking there was going to be a platform under there to catch them. I am such a stinker. I did put a checkpoint near it, so hopefully no one will get too angry.

I am glad you liked the rolling things, I had that idea in Jimmy's Room, but pulled it because I thought it didn't fit. It worked out good in this level I think. I am sure it's been done before....... I think.

Glad you liked the intro, I had some text planned, and a little story but pulled it all today, it just didn't feel right to me. I am renown for adding and dropping things the last day.

I want to see what your high score is, I won't try to beat it, I am just curious to see what the high scores are going to be on this.

Thanks again Bro!!

@ Nuffles - Glad you liked it Buddy!! The lift dropping, I was hoping people would think it was the end. I am glad it worked. Jackofcourse did that in a level, and I thought it was cool, but it didn't seem like a good place to end it. I actually wanted to do another section, but lag was starting and after I countered it, I was afraid to add to much more. That launcher at the end, hahaha, that turned out good I think, but I had to use an emitter there for the whole set up. Sponge, piston, dissolve, everything, just in case the player did something crazy, you never know. The rollers, I am very happy with those. That section kept breaking during create mode, I bet I rebuilt that section five times, but it's worth it. Thanks again for your feed back, I will leave you some on your new level too, I have already played it and I loved it!!

Later.....

I was very happy to see a new velcrojonze level today. It was the perfect way to start my lbp day. First I am amazed at how great your levels look without stickers and just having a small amount of materials. Your levels never cease to amaze me! I don't know how you seem to take a simple platformer and make it so memorable. The mechanics are always perfect, fresh and fun. Glad to have that experience, thank you!2010-07-22 09:04:00

Wow
I was really astonished.
Everything was perfect.
There was only a good place for this level.
Your design power is wonderful.
It's a great point that 3 Layer Glitch was used.

Brilliant level, love how you themed it. Took a couple of times to ace, but every level needs a challenge. The gameplay reminds me of Jimmy's room. It got a :star::star::star::star::star: plus a <3 from me.
Looking foward to a sequal, if your interested. Anyway, only negative feedback is that at a couple of switches seemed to do nothing for a while, which almost disrupts the flow of the level. Apart from that, brilliant!

Sup VelcroJones,

Timber Canyon II is a true successor to TC in every way. The layout and design is so clean and beautifully crafted. TC was great as well but every aspect has been refined and improved upon. The new gameplay elements are a blast. When I jumped on the circle and was heading down, seeing the other one come up was truly a killer moment. Another thing that is great about this series is how well they play.

The difficulty is just right where there is enough of a challenge to keep you playing but not enough to get you frustrated. So anyone can play this and have fun. But the meat for players who like to challenge themselves comes from the combos which you are without a doubt the king of. You have again outdone yourself with them in TC II. They are all well though out and spaced perfectly. Each one not too difficult to pull off but hitting all in single run takes some effort. Which is something I love to do.

:star::star::star::star::star: and a <3 for you my freind! Great job

WOW! This is another brilliant level VJ! I enjoyed it from start to the end. (And more that once, because i liked looking for secrets and bubbles.) It has very nice scenery and you used the third layer very cleverly.
I rated it with :star::star::star::star::star: and with <3 of course.

Hey VJ
What are you, some kind of crazy level making machine now? Already another, and I can't even finish my third one. I will now just use 2 materials from hence forth, lol. I played this yesterday, and it's awesome. A really good looking level, and one of the first to be enhanced by the newly discovered 3d glitch layer. You've used it so well, that you wouldn't even know it's there, untill you realize you can't jump on it in a section or two. This is the best of your Points and Springs type levels that put your name on the map. That is, lots of point bubbles to collect, and a ton of spring plattforms that vault you to them, and other placces in the level. Like the Jackof Course levels on crack, lol. I know he's your inspiration initially, but you have taken his title as platformer king on the PSP in my opinion. 5 stars and hearted buddy.

@valmassoi - Glad you liked it. Thanks fot the heart!! I will try your levels out and leave you some feedback!!

@Captain-Rule - Wow!! Thanks man. You made my day when I read your post, I am glad you like my style. Sometimes I get the feeling it's getting old, but there you have it. Thanks!!

@prstu - Thanks buddy!! I appreciate the play and the heart!!

@ Famous - Glad you liked it my friend!! I wish I could do something different man, I just don't know how to create that way. That's why I respect creators like you and Captain Rule, everything you make is different. I usually tend to find what I'm good at, and go with it. I truly wish I could make a level like Zen, Lifespan, or Destiny, but I think it's not my style. I really tried something different at the beginning of Isla Moya, but by the end, I think it was just another VJ level, Hahaha. Later Buddy!!

@Struanmcd - Thank you for the play and the heart!! I am so glad you like it it. I am sorry some switches took a while, I try to get those so the work good, so I truly don't know what happened there. Are you making anything new? I would love to play something new by you!! Later buddy!!

@Xenon - I am so glad you think it lives up to the first one. I know you had the high score on that level for longer than anyone. Those roller turned out great I thought. I am glad it gave you a cool moment. Hahaha, I know you like those combos, I remember your comment on Tera Cota about how learning all the combos was fun, and that statement has stuck with me. Thanks for saying I am the combo king. That is awesome you think that. Anyway, thanks for the awesome feedback Buddy!!

@Honza - Thanks for the heart buddy!! Those are always welcome. Those secret areas are fun. That is something I have tried to do on most of my levels. I like to give a reward for players who make a little more effort to explore. Glad you liked the scenery too, that is a great compliment considering I used no stickers, so thank you!!

@unXpectiD - Hope you like it!!

@Spark - Hope you like it too Buddy!!

@ Kaiju - Thanks for the kind words man!! I am so glad you liked my new level, I was kind of worried when I published it, I actually said to myself, I hope Kaiju will like this, considering I went back to my old way of creating again. I have not gave up on the story telling though, I promise, I just wanted to do another TC.
"Jackof Course levels on crack", That is awesome!! Thanks for saying that I am the platformer king too, it made my day!! Later my friend!!

Glad you liked it!!

Yes, I used the TomBurk glitch in a couple of places. I thought it turned out pretty good, especially the one spot where I sort of trick the player into thinking there is another platform to land on. I hope Cambridge does not patch that glitch, it would not be good for my level.

Thanks again Buddy!

Well I liked the bit with the Timber Canyons!! (See what I did there?)
The only problem is that I died at the end because the sponge squished me!! XP
Defiantly spotlight material.

Hey VJ,

You've done it again! Make it into the Community Spotlight with an awesome level, that is! As with the original Timber Canyon, this level awed me with your masterful use of minimal materials, well hidden point bubbles, and those amazing surprise launchers. What I loved most of all were those rolling wooden circles thingy. At first seeing them, I thought there was no way I was going to pass that section. But it ended up being pretty easy and fun! I also really liked the big leaps off of cliffs--nice way to implement the canyons theme in gameplay! Well, I hope you keep'em coming buddy...I'm really glad I dragged you over here.

Here's a video of your level:

Hey man! Congrats on the spotlight! I'm so glad that this level is finally out! I've been looking forward to it the moment you let us play that preview a while back.

I loved the theme of the level and the colors and everything. It was awesome and I loved the awesome platforming that you always have in your levels. Sorry, thats all that I can think of saying right now, I gave you five stars and a heart! And of course I already have you hearted as a creator. Great job with this!

I played the level the second day it came out. :/
Anyways, congratulations on the spotlight. This level sure well deserved it. Although, I'm not here to congrat you; though, I'm here to leave feedback. I always leave feedback here. I will say, you improved a lot since Fort Sugar. Your design and theme are so well implemented. You always find a way to create a new obstacle too. Now it's time I start with the feedback.

The intro is cool, reminded me of the first Timber Canyon. I was flung in the air and then came obstacles and bubbles. Collecting score bubbles make your level wanted to be played. I thought I made it to the top 5 highscores, but I guess not. I liked how you hid certain scorebubbles. Whether it's emitted or just there. I liked how you used the third layer glitch. I'm the person that doesn't like seeing the background unless it's made, but you made it interesting. The third layer glitch is cool to look at. It actually makes me feel like I'm playing LBP PS3 on the portable.

I liked how you used the sticker switch. It added more flavor to the level. (Taste like wood) I found every hidden bubble. Even got the one at the end. I thought I would get a highscore. Your wood theme was wonderful and I gave the level a second go. Very addicting levels to play VelcroJonze. It seems you managed to put a lot effort in this level. Honestly, I thought the level would end in some parts, but it keeps continuing. You finally managed to make e level with its best length. It felt twice as long as the first Timber Canyon. This level was Outstanding!!

Decent run without any problems. I'll start with your rating now.

Length: 5/5 (Right when I thought the level ended, it didn't.)
Material Usage: 5/5 (Materials were woody and nice.)
Sticker Work: N/A (I won't grade here)
Corner Editing: 5/5 (Your work is perfect. The thin front layer flows)
Terrain/Mechanics: 5/5 (The terrain was nice, you're great at Platforming levels.)
Story: N/A (Hi!)

Total: 20/20 Perfect Score!!

This level was unique, more improved since the first Timber Canyon.
5 stars :star::star::star::star::star: and a heart. <3

Until we meet again,

@ Joruto Sorry the sponge squashed you there, if anything , it might get you to play my level again to avoid that.

The third thick layer is very simple to use,TomBurk has some tutorials up on the lbp server, dl them or check out his thread here - https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=28661-3-Layer-Glitch

Thanks again for playing my level!

@ prstu - Thank you my friend, it's always good to hear from you!!

@ My Buddy - Jeff, thanks for the awesome write up in the spotlight, I actually showed that to my mom again, and she said, he is the one who wrote about the first TC? So you are getting pretty popular around the Jonze household. Seriously, I am glad you liked it, and thanks so much for recording the video, that is so cool of you to do that for us. I want you to know, I am not going to stop pushing myself to try new things, I want to do an RPG one day, and there is no doubt it will happen, I just really wanted to do another TC. And it makes my day to know that you, Taffey and Spark still enjoy playing my levels.

Thanks Bro!!

@th3_fly1nG_vEE - Thanks for playing my levels. I really appreciate the kind words, it makes me very happy to know that you liked this one too. I really like your new level as well, and I hope to see more from you soon!!

@eagerneph - Thanks man, congratulations to you too, your level is awesome!!

@Spark - Hey Buddy! Glad you dig my new level. I remember you were one of the first to leave me feedback on the first TC, so it's good to hear you like this one too. I am always eager to hear what you have to say, since you are one of the best. Hahaha, I am glad you like the length, you have told me in the past, some of my levels are a little short, so this is very nice indeed. Thanks for your awesome feedback Spark!!

@ Himoks - Thanks so much my friend, I always appreciate you leaving me feedback, and thanks for the heart too!!-VJ

Oh yes! Another VJ's level!
Which means more intelligent platforming, more secret zones to discover, more adictive gameplay and of course, thousands and thousand of bubble points!
Oh yeah, one day that scoreboard will be mine...I hope so
Hehe, well, aside my ambitious as a bad bubble hunter, this level is cool, like all the others and it has all the things that I have mentioned previously.
You are an excellent creator, but I have a question. Have you ever tried something different?
Because you have a lot of talent at designing platforming and scenarios. But I am sure that with all this talent you would be able to create something different to all the levels that you have now.
Don't think bad, I love your levels but what I'm trying to say is that I would like to see something different from you, because I know that you can do it.
And for your level, as always, :star::star::star::star::star: and a <3
Yeah I know that I'm leaving feedback a bit late but ohh well, I was a long time out of here and now I'm back
See you soon VJ! Ohh! and congrats on the Spotlight!

I'm not sure the gameplay has as much character as some of your other levels, although the rolling bit was cool. This IS, however, probably your prettiest level, with the 2-tone or 3-tone woodgrain, and the way you accented it. Thumbs Up.2010-10-20 23:17:00
