Unable to glue compressed objects

Archive: 11 posts

Well I'm trying to compress some stuff but when I move it in the other's place it won't let me glue. What do I do?2010-07-21 23:35:00

Glue it all to a piece of material on the layer in front or behind, then delete it. That generally does the trick. If not, post more details on what exactly you have compressed 2010-07-21 23:52:00

I find that putting material behind works better than in front (though it's probably 'cuz I'm always messing with thack stuff). I also usually have to glue something else before ungluing the first thing to keep the whole thing from ungluing. Did that make sense? Like, I have to glue a plank or whatever to the back of the two compressed objects, then glue another bit of material somewhere else before removing the plank.2010-07-22 05:57:00

I had this problem gluing VERY tiny dark matter. Try selecting the object behind, press L1 to try and move that object a layer back,
but since there's something blocking its way, it wont move back. And so, while pressing L1, hold X to glue.
Then, it should work.

Well I'm not sure if there's an advantage to gluing the objects to a piece of material either behind or infront but I usually just put a piece of invisible material into the objects themselves to glue them together. That way it doesn't take up another layer.
The first person to see this and send me a PM about it will get 100xp : )

I could be wrong but i thought it is impossible to glue compressed objects and you just have to press O2010-07-22 07:35:00

Would 2 Bolts do the work?2010-07-22 07:49:00

That's only for placing them. Once you have placed them then you can glue them.

You don't need to take up another layer as you can just delete the joining piece afterwards as the compressed objects are implicitly glued afterwards. And WRT infront / behind / on top / underneath / left / right.... it doesn't matter - any will work, it just depends on what objects you are compressing and what what space you have to place the joining piece ;p

Oh ok, I have no idea how I missed that part:blush: It's cool to know that can be done.

Rtm is right that it doesn't matter where the object is as long as it's touching both of the compressed objects, but I have had issues with specific objects that don't seem to want to be glued to from the front. I've never had anything reject a gluing from behind (I'm sure there's an innuendo there but I can't think of it) so that's what I use.2010-07-22 21:38:00
