http://i303.photobucket.com/albums/nn151/plasmavore/ActualLogo.png http://i303.photobucket.com/albums/nn151/plasmavore/stormsignature.jpg This level series will be based on The Wizard of Oz and be called OzDust! The series will feature custom music, cutscenes, sackbots etc. I will start revealing screenshots of what I've done so far very soon. I will be creating this level series, along with "All a Dream" , so keep an eye out! I've started work on the first level, so keep your eyes peeled! After the first one is released, there will be a vote on whether you would like to see the next Oz level before I start work again on "All a Dream", which I am currently taking a break from, there's a lot of work involved in that particular project! I'll also post new information and pictures in this thread Please see Page 3 for lots of info if you're interested! Stay tuned for info on how to get involved in the levels, pictures and more general awesomness! Thanks a lot for reading! | 2010-07-21 19:18:00 Author: Plasmavore Posts: 1913 |

Looks like I'm not the only one planning early lol It sounds like its gonna be awesome.... take that back, I know it is because you are puttng in the work early I hope that this project will be a big hit. | 2010-08-02 21:18:00 Author: lyrradXOX Posts: 285 |
Thanks for all the compliments guys. And I hope it will be a hit! I've only created a few things as of yet, no actual levels so far. Although I can reveal that there will be a 'hub' level, with portals to the next level etc. So once you've completed a level, you will be taken back to the hub. Everytime a level is published, it will be locked so that people must play the first one first, second one second and so forth. The hub level provides a way to get to the new level, without having to get the key from the last one (therefore meaning they have to play the level again. Thanks again! | 2010-08-03 09:00:00 Author: Plasmavore Posts: 1913 |
I wanna make my announce too, but im afraid of stealers jejeje. You got a wonderful project there !!!! | 2010-08-04 21:52:00 Author: Duckywolf Posts: 198 |

Hah, when I saw the poster I first thought the tornado was a mushroom cloud. Immediately some twisted atomic version of the Wizard of Oz popped into my head. - Takes place in the 1950s during the cold war - Instead of a tornado, a nuclear bomb is dropped - The mushroom cloud launches the house into the air, twirling around and around - It lands in a nuclear 50s version of Oz - When Dorothy wakes up at the end, she's underground in her family's bomb shelter Someone make THIS into a level! I bequeath it freely! Meanwhile, looking forward to seeing the actual project come together - not my nuclear one, the real one. But the nuclear one would be cool. So... do that one too. | 2010-08-04 23:38:00 Author: Teebonesy Posts: 1937 |
MUAHAHAHA!!! I knew about this project before most of you! Looks really great Plasmavore, can't wait to see the finished thing! | 2010-08-05 18:00:00 Author: SPONGMONKEY56 Posts: 209 |
Thanks guys! I'm really excited to properly start work on this. (All I've made so far are characters, random buildings etc) @Teebonesy That's actually a really good idea. But I'm mainly going for a simple colourful version of Oz. I would love to see a level like that though <3 | 2010-08-05 19:34:00 Author: Plasmavore Posts: 1913 |
MuhHaHa! I was right! Cool by the way! Lookin' forward to it! | 2010-08-05 19:57:00 Author: Super_Clone Posts: 849 |
I have some ideas for fun competitions to help out with the production of the series. Better warm up those vocal chords! Oh, was that a hint? | 2010-08-05 20:04:00 Author: Plasmavore Posts: 1913 |
http://www.jeboavatars.com/images/avatars/274753177066donuts.jpg Hmmm... Makes me feel like watching this movie. I guess it's an old movie now, and I can't bear musicals to be honest http://img408.imageshack.us/img408/1016/88382544.gif However, I know it's a cult movie and its world and atmosphere seem very unique. A video game on Nintendo DS has been made, it might help you make some sceneries (am I really telling you that ? http://img134.imageshack.us/img134/2964/honte.gif ) Anyway, good luck, all that stuff sounds very exciting ! I'm glad someone (as talented as you) intends to make levels based on Alice in Wonderland and The Wizard of Oz. This is something that has to be made for the game to be whole. | 2010-08-05 20:17:00 Author: Oddmania Posts: 1305 |
Hey everyone! I know it's been a while since anyone posted in this thread, but I thought I'd just update you on a few things. 1) I'm very sorry, but I have scrapped Alice. I made a huge mistake with the story of the levels and it would have been very difficult to fix. I may return to the project at some pint but for now, it's dead, I am very sorry to the [few] fans it had! 2) Never fear! "All a Dream" is still being worked on! I just felt like I needed a break from the logic-heaviness of that and return to a simpler level series like this. I also came up with a few new concepts for the story and the general style the levels will have! 3) Message for the mods: Please don't ban me for posting in here after so long! | 2011-03-20 11:39:00 Author: Plasmavore Posts: 1913 |
Agh! Sorry for double posting, and after so long as well! [Mods do not smite me!] I just thought everyone should know that my PS3 got the YLOD, and therefore the first level will be delayed even further, I apologise profusely to the [none] of you who were anticipating this series and I hope I can get my PS3 fixed soon/get a new one! [This also unfortunately means the delay of "All a Dream" ] In the meantime however, I have managed to try and get as much work done as possible on the project without the need of my PS3. This has included... Finding some voice actors! (If you want to audition, please check out this thread (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=53462-Audition-for-a-Wizard-of-Oz-Level-Series!)) Mr_T-Shirt (A_Morton) to create the music for the series! (What he's done so far is just fantastic, look forward to that!) Advertising the series Creating concept art which I will be slowly releasing here, so keep your eyes peeled! Various 'Coming Soon' posters, one of which I have edited into the OP! Writing the script for the voice actors! UPDATES: The script for the first two levels is complete! Once my PS3 is fixed, I will be contacting all the voice actors I have so far and give them the script to work from. The storyboards for the cutscenes for the first two levels have been completed. Below I have decided to reveal some new information about the first two levels of OzDust! FIRST TWO LEVELS Prologue- Over the Rainbow Featuring music from the amazing A_Morton! (Mr_T-Shirt here on LBPC) Parts of this level will be playable, but most will be cutscene. Featuring the voice talents of many LBPC members! This level will be set in Kansas. Chapter I- The Cyclone Again, featuring music by A_Morton! This level will be almost fully cutscene. The level is set in Kansas, the cyclone, and Munchkinland. Expect a few new story elements along the way too! New innovative gameplay to LBP2. Please note that these two levels will be released at the same time, joined by a hub level with a new and original menu system! And while I'm here I may as well reveal the names of the levels* in case anyone is interested... Prologue- Over the Rainbow Chapter I- The Cyclone Chapter II- The Yellow Brick Road Chapter III- March of the Field Mice Chapter IV- Emeralds and OzDust Chapter V- The Vinkus Chapter VI- Wicked and Wretched Chapter VII- There's No Place Like Home *some names may be subject to change Thank you for your continued intrest in this project and I hope it lives up to your expectations! - Plasma <3 | 2011-06-10 13:51:00 Author: Plasmavore Posts: 1913 |
This looks really exciting! Can't wait to see what you've got brewing Plasma! | 2011-06-30 20:36:00 Author: rialrees Posts: 1015 |
This looks very interesting. Will you follow the Oz story 100%? (or as close as possible in LBP) ? | 2011-07-01 02:56:00 Author: DarrienEven Posts: 217 |
The story is based mostly on the book 'The Wonderful Wizard of Oz' but with many elements from the classic film and a couple from the stage musical 'Wicked', based on the life of the Wicked Witch. Oh and a couple of original ideas from me as well! For example, OzDust is an actual story element. | 2011-07-01 06:33:00 Author: Plasmavore Posts: 1913 |
Just posting to show support. Been following this since the start and am still very excited, plasma. The whole concept is really exciting. If you need anything (in-game) I'm here to help in any way. | 2011-07-04 11:24:00 Author: talbot-trembler Posts: 1114 |
Aww! Thanks talbot! <3 Sorry you've had to wait so long though! First there was the wait for LBP2 to actually come out, then I had real life stuff going on so I couldn't work on it, and now my PS3 has YLOD! I hope to finally publish the first level before the end of August though! Join me anytime you want to have a look, and I may as well reveal a bit of new info for you, and all the other two people who are actually looking forward to this! But first, to start the conversation on this thread back up [hopefully!] everyone speculate, What do you think OzDust is? And to anyone who has read the book [I]The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, how do Field Mice [i.e. Chapter III] fit into the story? Thanks to all those who have supported this project, whether you have from the start, or have only just found out about it! | 2011-07-04 19:29:00 Author: Plasmavore Posts: 1913 |
UPDATES: 14th July 2011 My PS3 has been fixed! Huzzah! Music for the first level is complete! Look forward to fantastic music from the amazing A_Morton (Mr_T-Shirt here on LBPC) and the fantastic Foofles! Scripts will be sent out to the voice actors once I come back to my holiday in two weeks! Oh and one more thing, the logo may be complete.. Tell me what you think! http://i303.photobucket.com/albums/nn151/plasmavore/ActualLogo.png Ahhhh another double post I'm so sorry! Mods please do not smite me! To sum this idea up in two words: AMAZINGLY EPIC! | 2011-07-14 19:28:00 Author: Roneranger Posts: 415 |
Haha thanks so much! The first level should be out by September, I'm running wayyy behind schedule, plus I really need the Move pack for some things I'd like to do. Oh, and after over a year, this thread has finally reached Page 4. I am so happy! | 2011-07-14 20:15:00 Author: Plasmavore Posts: 1913 |
lol, a year for this THREAD??????? | 2011-07-14 20:29:00 Author: Roneranger Posts: 415 |
I first announced this project back when LBP2 was first announced, but I've been too busy to get working on it until now. Sorry for the wait.. | 2011-07-14 20:43:00 Author: Plasmavore Posts: 1913 |
Well, it looks amazing, so no need to rush. | 2011-07-14 20:48:00 Author: Roneranger Posts: 415 |
Aww thanks. I hope to be posting a few pictures of the first level before I head off on holiday on Sunday. Keep your eyes peeled and on this thread! | 2011-07-14 20:57:00 Author: Plasmavore Posts: 1913 |
Ok. I hope you think up some ideas, while your far far away.......... from your house! If you get bored and want to leave (highly unlikely), just tap your feet together and exclaim "There's no place like home! There's no place like home!" Don't forget the red sparkly shoes. EDIT: Oh yeah you can finish up this level once you get back! | 2011-07-14 21:02:00 Author: Roneranger Posts: 415 |
CYCLONE MUSIC! *frantic dancing* Seriously, this is going to be so awesome. Pointless teleporters, speaker-busting tornado, really looking forward to it! http://i.neoseeker.com/mgv/272671-Blackfalcon/671/5/animal0064hb2_display.gif | 2011-07-15 16:15:00 Author: Blackfalcon Posts: 409 |
The Wizard of Oz is an amazing creation. Creating it could be a challenge, but the outcome will be amazing. Can't wait for this to be finished. | 2011-07-15 21:47:00 Author: Roneranger Posts: 415 |
Aww thanks for all the support guys! I hope it will live up to all your expectations! And as BlackFalcon said, you may want to prepare your speakers for the tornado. I tried to go as realistic as possible with the sound of it... | 2011-07-16 12:27:00 Author: Plasmavore Posts: 1913 |
...And as BlackFalcon said, you may want to prepare your speakers for the tornado. I tried to go as realistic as possible with the sound of it... Not very encouraging. | 2011-07-16 15:45:00 Author: Roneranger Posts: 415 |
Not very encouraging. What do you mean? | 2011-07-16 17:16:00 Author: Plasmavore Posts: 1913 |
Is it loud, or is it scary? | 2011-07-16 17:23:00 Author: Roneranger Posts: 415 |
Is it loud, or is it scary? All I've managed to do so far (without the Move Pack, this is what I need the Move Recorder for) is the core structure and the sound effects. I've done research into tornadoes to try and get it as realistic as possible, and I spent a long time trying to get the sound of the in-game tornado to match a real one. That means it is loud, and yes, scary. | 2011-07-16 18:18:00 Author: Plasmavore Posts: 1913 |

In fact, I used the scene from the original film and tried to mirror the sounds of the twister in that. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MhPu5AHDMHM The sounds you hear in that video are very close to the sound effect of the tornado in the level. I layered about 14 different sound effects on top of one-another to achieve the results. | 2011-07-16 18:48:00 Author: Plasmavore Posts: 1913 |
Hey this thread hasn't had any replies recently. Do you have anything to show for it, or are you AWOL? | 2011-08-02 21:38:00 Author: Roneranger Posts: 415 |
Hey this thread hasn't had any replies recently. Do you have anything to show for it, or are you AWOL? Nope! The project is very much still going on, just not many people have been interested enough to post here in the thread... The voice actors are currently recording their lines for the first level! | 2011-08-03 00:11:00 Author: Plasmavore Posts: 1913 |
Yeah! Some progress! | 2011-08-03 17:00:00 Author: Roneranger Posts: 415 |

This will be a level made with epical awesomity! | 2011-08-04 21:48:00 Author: Roneranger Posts: 415 |
Pictures, pictures! At long last, pictures! Please bear in mind that the levels remain quite unfinished, the end product will look much much nicer. So don't judge the series based on the pictures below! The Kansas farm, pre-Tornado. http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=35961 The house interior. (I just noticed that the cupboard door became unglued somehow, ignore it! XD ) http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=35960 The [rather ruined] house, having landed in Oz. (I only started work on this yesterday so this is the most unfinished.) http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=35962 A sneak-peek at some of the epic music created exclusively for the series by A_Morton and Foofles, get excited for that! http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=35959 And that's it for now, I'll post more when more has been made... I hope that's enough to keep you all interested! | 2011-08-05 21:16:00 Author: Plasmavore Posts: 1913 |
For some reason I can't see the pictures. You might have to upload them in LBPC's photo album. | 2011-08-10 10:37:00 Author: Roneranger Posts: 415 |
I have news! The first level is going great so far, but judging by how long it's taking to get everything done it looks like I'll have to release the first two levels a few weeks apart (I've barely started on the second). My original plan was to release them both at the same time but that's just not working out how I planned (you can shun me it's fine..). Also, I really want to get at least one level published before everyone completely forgets about this project. Onto more positive news... I have received all the voice actors' work for the first level and I can confirm to you that it is all fantastic! Look forward to hearing the voice talents of many LBPC members in this series! 99% of the names I'm sure you will all recognise! There will be a credits level at the end of the series thanking all the actors and everyone that has helped out on the project in any way, such as making music, or just helping me create a part of a level. Everyone will be thanked in a large credits level, hopefully accompanied by the singing talents of one or more LBPC-members, but don't hold me by this! Everyone has their separate commitments and I can't promise they'll be able to! I have an amazing back-up piece of music by Mr_T-Shirt in case this plan fails in any way.. Thanks so much for sticking by the project for over a year (sorry! :s) and not forgetting it! Unless you have, in which case.. *awkward munchkin*. | 2011-09-03 21:01:00 Author: Plasmavore Posts: 1913 |
FINALLY A POST. I THOUGHT YOU DISAPPEARED IN A TORNADO TO THE LAND OF OZ BUT YOU ARE VERY MUCH HERE! Well if you did you would have more stuff to include in the production of this project. | 2011-09-04 18:26:00 Author: Roneranger Posts: 415 |
I'm sorry! I've been very busy lately! Hopefully there should be more frequent updates with the Move pack being released and all that. Very exciting indeed! Not many tornadoes here in London though I'm afraid, just rain.. | 2011-09-04 18:30:00 Author: Plasmavore Posts: 1913 |
I know, I think Birmingham had one ONCE! | 2011-09-04 19:03:00 Author: Roneranger Posts: 415 |
I'm fairly sure that London had one and it destroyed a couple of houses on a surbaban street. EDIT: I just realised I might an epic typo on 'suburban'. But I'll leave it there for others to enjoy.. XD | 2011-09-04 20:11:00 Author: Plasmavore Posts: 1913 |
