Play LBP2 at the PlayStation Beta Rooms (UK only)

Archive: 30 posts

From Friday 30th July - Sunday 1st August, we're turning a secret Central Birmingham venue into a gamer's paradise. Check out this blurb from SCE UK:

“PlayStation BETA is our access all areas community for gamers. It’s an opportunity for us to reward you guys with trials of titles way ahead of release, invitations to exclusive content and an array of prizes to further enhance your gaming experience.

We’re inviting you to come and prove yourself on games before they’re released, battle it out with the best of the best, win awesome prizes, and speak face to face with your gaming heroes. While other people can only talk about future games, you can be launching yourself into them for real at our first ever BETA event in Birmingham.

So what kind of crumbling apocalyptic cities can you race through and what kind of power struggles can you get caught up in? For a taster of what’s about to be unleashed on the market, you can sample all of these at the event: Killzone 3, GT5, MotorStorm Apocalypse, LBP2, The Fight, Kung Fu Rider, Sports Champions, Heavy Rain Move Edition and many more.

We’ll even stage a MotorStorm Apocalypse tournament. The prize? The champion of each session not only escapes a natural catastrophe but also wins a Sony 3DTV. And if you can’t dodge enough flying concrete to claim a prize, don’t curl up in shame as there are limited edition take homes for everyone. And there’s free food and drink throughout, to fuel your shooting/racing/zombie addiction.

So if you want to thrust yourself into games no one else can get their hands on at the BETA event in Birmingham, sign up now"

You're itching already, right?

The event is open to UK residents. To secure a place for you and a friend, send us an email on betarooms@scee.net before Monday 26th July along with your preferred date. You can choose from the following sessions:

Saturday 31st July: 6pm- 10pm
Sunday 1st August: 12pm- 4pm

Places are offered on a first-come, first served basis so don't hang about. Don’t worry, we’ll be confirming venue details nearer the time but if you want to check out travel information, it’s within a mile of Birmingham New Street station.

I would have posted this here yesterday, but LBP2 wasn't confirmed then. Its shaping up to be quite a popular event, so if you want to go you'd better send those emails fast! I heard that the place can hold about 400 people yet it may already be too late, but worth a try, right?

Why did my parents decide to book to leave for our holiday on the 29th?!
Well, I hope that whoever does go has a great time.

WAT?

Well I'm too far away to dream now, have to wait for:

- LBP2 beta in Brazil (not happening)
- Gaining beta key (uhhhhh... no)
- Waiting for LBP2 to be released (now we're talking!)

Yeah. I live in Canada. Even though i'm not particularly far from the us, there is no such thing as a Canadian gaming convention. Go figure.

Does anyone want to sponsor a trip to England for me? I'll send you cookies in the mail in return

@Cybersnake, I'm pretty sure he meant that it wasn't confirmed that LBP2 was going to be there.

Well, I gave it a shot and sent off an email. Can't hurt right?

Do you know of any age limits of anything in place, and the cost (if not free)?

I'm leaving on the same day!

Even if I wasn't going on holiday, I'd still have to persuade my parents to take me up to Birmingham just to play video games. I don't know how I can make that come across as appealing to them...

I've got no money for travel at the moment but if I got a ticket, I'd trek the motorways' hard shoulder from Manchester with a sat nav in my hands to get there.2010-07-22 11:42:00

No places left
Yeah... apparantly I sent my email after the deadline - even though it says deadline is on the 26th July...
I'm rather confused - Oh well...
Don't bother applying now

Does this need a lock? Ah well - up to you mods to decide.

That's a mega-shame. I bet a lot of the people that have got accepted will realise they actually can't go, because they'll be ferrety little kids that click before they think...

Not that i'm sore or anything... >.<

I don't live that far away, but to be honest, I doubt I'd go anyway. And when you think about it, how long will you actually get on LBP2? It won't be like having the game to yourself in a nice, comfy, quite room to yourself. They'll be loads of people, you'll never hear it you'll probably get 10 mins on it.

Sorry for being negative, just my thoughts and stuff.

LittleBigPlanet 2

Is it wrong to declare love for a game? If it isn?t, then I love LittleBigPlanet 2. The co-op demo level is the same as the gameplay trailer that was released a few days ago ? and it's a real gem. The grapple is a real nice touch and allows some smooth transitions between platforms, and the jumping seems to feel less ?floaty? than in the original LittleBigPlanet.
