Or maybe they're taking a year to finish LBP2. Remember, LBP1 was announced in 2007. A year later, it came out. The year after that, LBP PSP came out. Finally, a year after that, we'll have LBP2. I wouldn't be surprised to see LBP PSP2 pop up.

It probably takes a long time because of te complete visual overhaul. They had to make everything in the game better looking, and that would take quite a long time...2010-07-21 12:40:00

The things I think they are hiding from us:

-Some sort of way to create music (like mario paint).
-A save system that works in level (well how else do you expect the community to make real RPG levels)
- A lighting particle system
-Other power ups
-Different emotions
-and maybe the ability to control vibrations. (Mainly want this!)

just the stuff weve senn so far

Lol, I don't think you really appreciate how much more stuff there actually is in the sequel, and how significant the new stuff is. There is plenty there to apslode your heads when you actually get to use it

Also, during the two years between releases of games they have not been working on LBP2 exclusively - think how many updates and extensions we've had, from the little things like angle sensors and invisible connectors through the biggies like water and OC.

That said, I'm sure they've got a few bits and pieces held back, just because they are cheeky like that. But I assure you: "just the stuff we've seen so far" is worth buying the game three times over when it is released

@cybersnake: vibration control might be possible with a bit of creativity, even if it's not explicitly supported

They're definitely taking longer than a year, just remember that the PSP LBP games weren't made by Media Molecule.

LBP1 probably took 2.5 years, LBP2's probably taking about 1.5 years alongside making the LBP1 DLC.
The PSP games would probably take a year each, starting from when the PS3 version is released.

I'm fairly sure they would be hiding stuff though. Whether it's a load of little tweaks, or they hiding something HUGE to surprise us with, or both. And at the very least they'll be releasing more features after it's release.

2) No comment.

3) I wouldn't call it hiding. Just "under construction".

You already get a music maker.

Yh, I know but I'm not sure if it's the selector seen in Gevurah's videos or an actual music maker.

Yh, I know I can have some sort of danger come close to sackboy to make the controller vibrate but I want to remake MGS1 in LBP2 and there is a 'certain part' (don't want to ruin for anybody) that I would like to recreate.

It is possible that they're reveling some features at a later date, there's 2 big shows before the release (Gamescon & TGS) for them to show something and generate a bit of hype. I doubt they'd leave any big reveals until release it just seems too late for hype building.2010-07-21 17:18:00

Agreed. I'm not sure if you people really get how much we've already had revealed. It's huge! Some of us have discussed ways it would be possible to do mushroom powerups a la mario (demit a dcs'd sackbot and emit a new bigger one using the same remote control color), have A.I. characters that the player(s) can switch between a la Lego Star Wars (a bit more complicated, but should be possible with a bit of advanced logic), a gamespeak system a la Abe's Oddysey and even a way of possessing enemy characters, also from Oddworld. I'm sure that water running and wall jumping mechanics will also be possible a la Ninja Gaiden. And that's just sackbots. If you put your mind to it, I'm sure you'll be able to imagine all kinds of fun things that will be possible with the new features.

Now of course there are some things that haven't been revealed that I would really like to know, but they're mostly just details of the big features we've had revealed. For instance, we know about level linking, but we haven't heard if variables can be saved and/or transferred from one level to the next (in an rpg, will your exp stick with you?) But I suspect that most, if not all, of the major features have been revealed.

Anyway Everything Sehven has said is 100% true, there will be a lot more that you can do now with all of the tools, a lot more then what we've seen so far. Imagine the fairly simple tools that they gave us in LBP1, and look at some of the absolutely incredible things done with them. Now with highly advanced tools, people will be making much more insane things, things that you couldn't even dream about in LBP1.

I also agree with this, but just imagine what would happen if you discovered all the new features when you first play the game? your head might explode!!!!! not to mention we all have time to plan out a whole variety of new inventions. yay. thinking about lbp 2 kills all boredom you have to admit, and is something to look forward to.

I'm pretty sure I saw in some video one of the lead designers ( I want to say Alex) stating that they were waiting to reveal some of the features until they were further along, like tweaked to where they want them. So, I know that there's more to come. That stated I reserved a copy the first day that I read about the new stuff that was already announced, I'm sold. I just want to know what more amazing toys I'm getting with the already amazing collection of toys I'm determined to possess. I might have a hard time justifying other game purchases, what with most every genre of game possible on one $60 disc.2010-07-26 04:00:00

- yeah i remember seeing this vid as well, - in terms of the features he did say they're holding a few cards close to their chests, because if they announce it to early people get excited for it and if it doesn't work out and they pull it then people will be upset. - remember the dynamic cloth from e3 2006(7?) that went missing. - wasn't a big deal but imagine if sackbots were a feature that was suddenly cut, i'm sure people would be very upset. (really doubt thats gonna happen) - so maybe there are a few powerup of features still being tinkered with that could be insanely cool, but may still hit the chopping block. Personally I'd rather not know.

This is why game developers don't like to talk about game in production, since then they can do to features whatever they want without consequences. It's MM mistake to even talk about features that was not 100% sure they will make in to the game2010-07-28 13:04:00

I think a lot of people think they know a lot more than we do. We don't know the specifics of the DCS, all the tweaks you can tweak the sack bots with with, or anything else they havnt announced yet. Theyve given us a lot of titles and cover pages, but we havnt quite read the novels...

Also, nobody quite knows what the magic bag is now do we? I thinking that is going to absolutely blow peoples minds.

Thats long. I didn't read it. Is there anything new in there?

MM could hide the entire LBP2 if they wanted. But its always good to hook the attention of the consumer and make them anticipate pure awesomeness.

And then Trogdor comes in the nnnniiiiigggghhhtttt!

I think the magic bag should be a bag where items you collect can pop up and be used...This would be absolutely necessary for RPGs.2010-07-28 17:17:00

I suppose the whole name of the Magic Bag was just a mess-up.
Wasn't it "'Magic Gloves' and 'Bag'" turned to "'Power Gloves' and 'Magic Bag'"? Just asking.

Agreed. Maybe it could use spoiler tags so it's not taking up such a huge chunk of the page?

THATCHED ROOF COTTAGEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEES!!

Wait, what were we talking about? As far as what's in lbp2, I'm already completely stoked by what's been revealed. Anything else that they reveal later will just be gravy on top of already perfect.... whatever you put gravy on. Mashed potatoes? Does... does lbp2 seem like mashed potatoes? I would think it'd be something yummier. What's yummier than potatoes that you can put gravy on? Biscuits? Lbp2 is biscuits. Really yummy biscuits... but not like what the Brits call biscuits. I don't think I'd want to put gravy on those.

The first level I played of LBP2 featured a Sackboy, my character, equipped with a hat that could shoot globs of foam. The hat could be set to shoot any substance in the game, a Sony representative who also had a controller in his hand told me. In this level, though, the hat would shoot goo. The goo would stick and pile. We could make our own platforms with it.

While the hat is something we all know about I think that sticky goo to make platforms is something that hasn't been mentioned yet.

I can think of a feature there hiding....
I think we are going to get to make our pods bigger and redesign them to make them a home for our sackboy!

well i just want to say something and considering i haven't read page 2 or 3 it might of already been said, but do you remember that first time you tried to create in LBP1? You knew the tools they told you about but when you went in there and saw all these new things that weren't even mentioned till the moment you got in there? Yea i don't think they are telling us every bit. Mm is a group of people just like us so they probably know how fun it is to get that cake with the god-like frosting that no one told you about... although i cant eat that frosting cause I'm a diabetic...
