Spinning/Turning Objects in the Same Plane?

Archive: 6 posts

Not quite sure how to word this for the title, but think basically a planet/cube spinning. It would give a pretty realistic effect and I think it could be accomplished without messing with the planes or anything. Maybe even add "Bolts" to make things oscillate back and forth?

Hope you you all get what I'm trying to explain...I think it would really make LBP2 seem more realistic, e.g turrents "noticing you" and quickly oscillating to face you and start shooting.

You mean making objects rotate along the X or Y axis? Objects in LBP can already rotate on the Z axis quite easily, and with camera effects you should be able to make object appear to rotate differently in "top-down" camera mode, but it's just an illusion.

Rotating along other axes would make objects potentially reach far into the background and foreground layers, or beneath or below the "edges" of a normal level, should the object be long enough.

Yeah, the X axis in particular. I see what you mean with long rectangular objects, but it could work, in theory, with cubes and spheres.

I suppose it could just be worked around by emitting multiple objects to make it seem like the object is turning.

Neat idea, though I'm not sure how sackboy/other objects would react if they came in contact with spinning object.
and in conjunction with this, they should give us Sphere/Pyramid/Cylinder .etc shaping tools.

This. It'd be nice to actually be able to build an actual round tower or something to that effect.

Ive always wanted to recreate the new Total Wipeout Qualifier, without it being top down.
This would be a vital tool to make that, as they now have alot of spinning bars.
