The Shack

Now, I'm not a book reader at all, but I somewhat felt drawn towards this book in my house after some of my family members had finished reading it. After reading the blurb and the front cover, it seemed that this was the book for me. Does this book really hold the question I have been wanting an answer to all my life? Where is God in a World filled with such unspeakable pain? This book has it all.
I'd like to know has anyone else here read it and feel the same way as me It is a work of fiction, but yet it contains such a strong and in depth meaning that I believe it has to contain some divine inspiration. I'm fine if others are not feeling this way too, or your own religion is what you only believe, but to people who haven't been able to find God in their lives, I highly recommend it. Maybe you'll find him.
(Please, I'm not here to cause controversy, so please, don't you either).

Well, if you really are that desperate for a reply, I could oblige.

I've never heard of this book, but it sounds really good, what's the storyline, if there is any?

Well it's about a guy who after years after a family tragedy, has received what look lie a letter from God inviting him back to the very place that he hates most, the place where evidence had been found that his daughter Missy has been murdered all those years ago.2010-07-19 18:38:00

I read this book, changed my life! It had everything in it and I'll probably read it again. I'm glad to know there's some Christians here on lbpc! Sure this book is an act of fiction and is not really god speaking, but the writer does such a good job on keeping to something god would say rather than the writer. The first few chapters in the book were brutal but without them you really wouldn't feel the pain of Mack and his "Great Sadness." Anyways great book. Everybody in the world needs to read it. Nuff' said.2010-07-21 02:38:00

My wife read it and if I recall correctly, she felt pretty "Meh." about it. And she's an ordained minister. My guess is she took issues with the way God is portrayed in the book or the kind of theology that it used as it's basis.2010-07-23 14:27:00
