Sun sets on the WestsideDraden6436
This level is pretty **** good but its short and more of a platform for bigger things as I try and get my teeth into the PSP a bit more (metaphorically of course)
Howdo guys,
okay I'm churning out levels like a big errr churning machine.
This time its on the ol' PSP.
I gotta be honest I can't really give you a comparision to any of the PSP community because I haven't played nearly enough, but this is a miniature work of mine as I intend to find my feet on the PSP a bit more.
The level itself is a Japanese garden meets ninja dude kinda thing going on and has all the platforming juiciness you'd expect from the ol' Draden
I would appreciate the feedback if possible as this is the first level I've actually tried in lol.
Cheers dudes and dudettes

Hello Draden!! Welcome to the psp side of the forums!!

I loved your level. It had a great flow to it it, and it looked great. It was short but that's okay, it seemed almost like it was intended to be, so I did not mind at all. I can tell you have made levels before, because this was an excellent level design. Your mechanics worked great too, everything worked , and worked good too. Great job on your first psp level.

I gave you five stars and a heart and one for creator too. <3

Looking forward to more levels by you.

Nice one glad you liked it jonze,
yeah it was always going to be smallish but thanks for the feedback and the author heart, I only found out about that the other day lol.
The ps3 experience is good to have, thank God there's a corner editor on PSP lol.
The pistons were starting to wreck themselves as well but I'm confident my next one will rock
I'll go check your levels once I've charged the PSP lol.

I'll give your level a go. In return, I ask that you look at mine: "The Gears of Life". I need to know how to become a better creator.2010-07-18 16:03:00

It was very fun.

I liked the different ideas that you placed in there, the ceiling crawl idea was genius. I might even use it in another level.

I had a few difficulties with the first section, the platform over the fire and the fire rods part, but that might have been just my noobish experience

EDIT:
5 stars and a heart for you!

Fantastic Eli,
Glad you enjoyed it and the ceiling crawl is the oldest trick in the book for us platformer creators so feel free to take it
I'll get to reviewing your level soon I promise I'm just currently midflow recreating a PS3 classic of mine on the PSP
Exciting times
I'll try and give you some easy tips for improvement as well, I'm told I'm a good lbp teacher

Hey Draden,

Congratulations on the Spotlight nod! You have an eye for style, and I really loved the theme and materials you chose for this level. My only concerns were that it felt cramped at times, and the gameplay could be a bit more innovative, but other than that, it was a great level. Fabulous job, and I can't wait to see what you come up with next!

Cheers Jeff,
I never thought my first spotlight (or half a spotlight ) would be for my PSP work.
I was pleased with the look of the level and I'm hoping to recreate that style in my next platformer which'll be much bigger and better than Sunsets.
Its great to see how people are so enthusiastic about this level because I always thought this was a platform for my best. Thats also why I didn't go all out and make too many show stopping obstacles but I'll make sure my next platformer is nice and open as well.
Thanks for the feedback

GUYS HOW DO I CHANGE MY TITLE OF THIS THREAD TO ADD SPOTLIGHTED?
I'm not technical enough lol

Hi,Draden! You created very cool level! Nice choose of materials and good flow. It looks a little blocky for me but anyway this level has own style and it is very good. I like your obstacles and level mechanics. So I gave you 5 stars and heart for this level and will look for new levels from you.2010-07-27 13:35:00

This was pretty good!

Story: N/A/10
No story.

Music/SFX Choice: 8/10
Music seemed to fit in a little, I would of used an oriental song but that's just me. Didn't seem to find any SFX

Corner Editing/Material Use: 9/10
Materials looked great together! It was a little boxy at times, but that's alright.

Creatures/Objects: N/A/10
No creatures.

Gameplay: 9/10
This is different than most i've played, it had a few things I've never seen before. I would have added more bubbles.

Overall: 8/10 (not an average)
A little laggy but that's not your fault. I find it weird that it would lag in a short level... Anyways this was enjoyable and I'm glad I played it. I gave you :star::star::star::star::star:

F4F: It'd be great if you checked out my Patapon level. It's in my sig.
