3D world possible?

I think that in LBP2, a 3D world would be possible by having a sackbot controlled by a DCS (that could move between layers, even the ones in background that use the 3D layer glitch) placed in an environment made using the 3D layer glitch, then placing a camera on the sackbot's microchip that makes the camera give a 3rd person shooter perspective

Yh, but I think that they will have to because half of the levels out there use the 3D layer glitch, so if they got rid of it most levels would be broken.

I doubt this would work. Sackbots would not be able to go into the extra layers because they behave (mostly) like Sackboy, who of course can't walk on the extra layers.2010-07-18 08:01:00

Just wait and see what will come in the full list of tools before we make any judgements. There may be other tools that allow us to to cool stuff, or not, still too early to tell.

However, don't expect to use the 3D glitch again in LBP2, it's called a glitch for a reason. It's not that people aren't using it in interesting way, but it breaks certain aspects of the game that could probably be improved on otherwise. I bet you there's some features that got lost in the wayside due to having to keep LBP1 level compatibility and glitch compatibility specifically.

Glitches are not things that devs implement in game ^^' there are bugs in coding state point, so the can leave bug or "legalize it" by truly implementing it in game so user can easily access, either of those 2 3D should be there, they can ofcorse fix glitch but then they will lose lot of backward compatibility. Keep in mind LBP2 not made by 0, but from upgrade of LBP1

This idea wouldn't work because jackboots wouldn't be able to shift back into the 3D layers

They may patch the 3d layer glitch so it can't be remade so the levels are saved but the glitch disapears

Conversations about whether the extra layers will still be useable (probably) or whether the movers will be able to move you into them (I very much doubt it) aside:

You still wouldn't have 3-d movement using this method - you'd just have the same 2.5D style, with more layers of depth....

Well its not exactly 2D because there is some degree of thickness (layers), but its not full 3D because (for the most part) there isnt a lot of movement within this depth. Most of the movement occurs along one plane.

2.5D is just a name that's been created to describe this unique behavior. I think its also used to describe things that appear to be 3D but only function on one plane.

I have a feeling they might include it somehow because they have discussed in an interview how much better the glitch has made some levels look!

I just hope they continue the theck and thack layers... but I doubt it =(

I have a strong suspicion that neither of these will be officially supported any time soon. And by strong suspicion, I mean we kinda talked about it with MM On the plus side, they aren't exactly wanting to take these tools away from us either

"Sorry to burst your bubble", but NO MM DIDN'T (use 3d glitch in Marvel Pack)!!! (Level 2 - Freeway Frenzy) It's just an VERY carefully made illusion. The scrolling speed and height of the city background is just right to make us think it's farther than it is.

How do I know? Take your Finger decoration what you got from Monster Pack, size it to the max, slap it in the city skyline cardboard, and you see that the tip of the finger's nail is just barely peeking from the side of the truck you start in.
Now compare it to any thin material in the 4th layer to a thin/thick material in the 1st layer. Sorry.

Didn't Mm use the layer glitch in the Incredibles kit?

The bit on the monorail where you pass by the rocket? I thought the rocket was much further back than the normal layers.

Mm never have, and never will use it. It'll just be the case of optical illusions!
